*sigh*

It is a sculptue by David Cerny displayed in the central atrium of Lucerna Palace meant to be an ironic twist on the St. Wenceslas statute in the square outside.

An Equine Proctologist. (to the semi-illiterate, a proctologist is an ass-doctor, anal physician, sphinctor pilot, etc.)

Four hooves in the air means before the battle he saw his shadow, six more weeks of winter.

"There`s a reason you don`t hear much about French knights."

The French pretty much invented Knighthood and Feudalism, so if you haven`t heard of it, you`ve pretty much never opened a History book.

Hm... my first impression is Knights Templar. It reminds me of the two templars on a horse thing (those with dirty minds, shut it)

I`m not entirely sure though...

And by the way, the position of hooves thing... isn`t true I`m afraid. I wish it was.

@ Skabashas

I used to think that was true also, but I was watching an episode of QI a few nights ago (I dont know if it airs in the US but it`s basically a program which debunks popular theories and urban legends to be true or untrue, or to give their real origins etc etc that is hosted by a few comedians), and it said that the "4 hooves on the ground for natural causes" theory isnt actually true :o I cant remember if there was an alternate origin story or whatever but I distinctly remember being surprised that that wasnt true, after I thought it was for so long...

No idea wtf that is up there though ^^ haha!

On statues of men riding horses: 4 hooves on the ground means the military hero on the horse lived through battle and died of natural causes later. 1 hoof in the air means that they died later from injuries sustained during battle. 2 hooves in the air means that they were killed in battle.

As for the upside-down horse with the right-side-up rider, I am going to blindly assumer that it means that the guy was killed in battle, came back to life, and then did of natural causes during another battle later. Eh?

Two hooves of the ground - died in battle, one hoof, died after the battle, all hooves on the ground suvived the battle and died of another cause, I watch QI too!!

"If one hoof is off the ground, the man died in battle."

That system is actually wrong. It was on QI so it MUST be true!

If one hoof is off the ground, the man died in battle. If all four hoofs are of the ground the man died in a blimp.

Did a little research. Here`s what I got:
St. Wenceslas, the patron saint of the Czech Republic, is honored with many statues around the country. But the sculpture of St. Wenceslas Riding a Dead Horse in Prague turns those monuments — literally — upside down. Hanging in the gallery of a shopping and entertainment complex, it was created in 1999 as a parody of a right-side-up statue in a nearby public square.
