Apparently, Texas is not going to let Florida just stroll off with the title for the nuttiest place of earth.

I`m from Texas so let me clarify a little.
This probably could be covered under child molestation.
The law she`s refering to just says if your Dad takes you the store and buys you a playboy neither the kid nor adult is doing anything illegal. In Texas the law just leaves everything up to the parent. This guy is their father and Texas prosicuters aren`t goung to tell people how to raise their kids. I`m not defending it, these laws let my mom keep me from going to school, but thats how it is here.
However the other report says the father physicaly forced the girls to watch the porn, i.e. commited a sexual act, i.e. molested them.

This is like how a parent giving his kid a taste of your beer is legal, while forcing him to get drunk against his will is not. Add in that these are two little girls and you have a strong case to revoke any visitation the father has, or try to file abuse charges.
Texans aren`t going to give up the custom of buying boys Playboys when t

hmm guess youd have to know more details to the story to make a serious judgement. Obviously hearing "forced children" makes everything sound dirty, horrible and wrong. But I agree with Kaougaiji in the situation that, possibly the mother is conservative and just might disagree with the education for her children. The media is good at leaving out important details :O

And another side could be that she`s a conservative mean person that doesn`t want her kids having any kind of sex education and she`s upset that the dad tried to explain it to them.

Thank you news corporations for destroying what sounds to be a reasonable law.

You realize that if this law is changed, you`ll be able to go to jail for viewing porn without a parents permission pretty much?

also, really, stop taking news reports literally. Because one person claims the other "forced" x to watch porn doesn`t mean he did unless he`s found guilty. Could be that they just found the porn stash and she`s upset at the husband for having one for them to find.

Will CBS do it for you?CBS affiliate
Or ABC? ABC affiliate

So how do you feel about a prosecutor "finding a way" to prosecute someone who did something that wasn`t illegal?

Even if she gets the law changed Her husband would have to break that law AGAIN after the law went in effect. Shes stupid for thinking she can do otherwise. And yes that dad is a sicko.

"Give it a rest a$$wipe. Time for you to go to bed."

Seriously?

Seriously?

Well, I can`t say I could expect much more from some biker-bitch on the internet.

What, you can`t be Mr. Tough-Guy with your chosen group in real life, so you come here to let out your steam?

Thanks, though, it actually is about time for me to sleep... I`ve been up since 4 in the morning job-hunting, among other things in the early hours, so I do feel a little tired...

BTW, GENIUS use of dollar signs to prevent the censorship of a word that`s not even blocked by the IAB censors. I`ll have to write that one down.

Cont.

But, like I said, we don`t know sh*t in this story. Could someone get a link to a more reliable news source? I mean, whoever posted this obviously doesn`t understand how much weight Faux News carries around here, or on the internet in general...

P.S.

I`ve realized... The IAB character limit is off.

It says 1000 character limit. It only shows 910 in the actual post...

Just saying. That starts to get on my nerves when I think "Oh, I have this much left, why not use it instead of making another post," and then my last sentence gets cut off, completely changing the context of my post...

Pfft, I`ve been watching porn for... Oh, wait... I just turned 18, can`t be admitting that.

ANYWAY...

I honestly don`t know who to believe or blame.

I mean, think about it, it`s Faux News, so we`re probably only getting the 1/100 of the story they think will outrage the public most.

If dad GENUINELY
MADE
them watch, then yes, something`s wrong with him, and there should have been a law broken.

*cough*Especially if it was one of those crappy pornos with a terrible storyline.*cough*

But if it was just something for the sake of sex ed., then it`s okay, WITHIN REASON.

Though, honestly, teaching your kids that way at 8 and 9 years old seems a little...

Excessive,I guess?

I mean, he could at least wait `till they`re in their early teens, you know... At that point, one would expect more of a "Birds and Bees" talk then a full blown sex lesson.

Shouldn`t we try to discern slightly more than "OMG his little girls were made to watch Porn"... There are many different forms and by sheer technicality a decent Sex-ed film is classified as a form of porn if it shows what it should. So, Why are we only getting a single side of the story then ranting about how messed up he is. Calm down, because very likely Fox News did this as a ratings stunt and only told one side of the story because his daughters very likely ASKED him or they had Questions and he showed them a little clip that showed them..however tame, if it has nudity its classified as porn to some people. So really I think the issue is with the mother not understanding or freaking out..and Fox News picking up on that.

What the father did should not have been done without the consent of the mother, but we don`t need more laws restricting people`s rights. What we need is people to take responsibility of their own actions.

green_batman: I agree to an extent though I think both parents should`ve been in agreement on doing this. Even then you have to know when your kid is ready, if indeed it was something like say softcore or tame porn to actually teach instead of flat out corrupt.

I think spurlyburbl has it right. It is possible that the dad showed a somewhat more tasteful (if the word can be applied to porn at all) porn movie to the kids to teach them about sex. I had a general idea of what sex was when I was about 6 (though not through watching porn), so I wouldn`t consider 8 and 9 too early to learn about it. Especially since there are a few 8 and 9 year olds actually doing it.

I understand that abuse can happen with this, but abuse can happen in ALL situations. What if a parent wanted to show their kids a video that was considered porn but was really light (not too raunchy, etc.) in order to teach them certain things about sex? You have to admit, those sex ed videos that were poor production, cheesy and boring were nothing but a punch line for jokes.

He forced his prepubescent daughters to watch porn ?
This`ll either scar them for life or they`ll be on Jerry Springer/Maury Povich in a few years time.

or, like me the guy wanted to educate his daughters as to what men thought of when the think of women. and maybe just maybe he wanted to give them a little fear of strangers with candy... and maybe he is just a perv. but since they7 didnt ask him, well responsible news reporting only reports one side.

So, if your parents weren`t married then, by definition, you can only be and create evil?

I have nothing against with watching porn with your kids, so long as you don`t molest them of course.

Way to exaggerate everyone! Good going, reacting without attempting to discern the context.

"Forced them to watch porn" or
"Taught them about sex with visual aid which happened to be a few frames from a porn?"

<sarcasm>
Surely, that guy needs to go to prison for 20 years for teaching his children about sex.
</sarcasm>

The only mistake that guy made was marrying someone so head-screwed that she feels guilty for having committed the acts that gave them children.

I bet she can only doing with the lights out!

Oh come on, they aren`t going to say what TYPE of porn? I mean, your usual "Hi, I`m the new secretary" flick ain`t so bad for the kids lol. I`d be more concerned about them seeing people die than people having sex.

I wonder if he actually FORCED the children to watch porn or just like watched it while they were present (possibly story got exaggerated)? Both obviously bad parenting but it just kinda blows my mind that a father would force porn on his young daughters...takes bad parenting to a different level there...But then, there are all manner of people in the world... >.>

Surely being forced into anything should be against the law. If curious teenage boys want to look at porn the let them, it`s not like it doesn`t happen anyway... But forcing 9 year old girls to watch it? There`s something very sick and perverted about that.

Hard to make this against the law... I see this falling under just bad parenting... Like teaching your kids to be hate preachers.

Man, some parents amaze me (& not in a good way). "Kids...come here a minute - I`ve got something to show you..."

I`m just curious as to what "certain situations" would call for the watching of porn by minors??
