From what I understand, it wasn`t a "fake prom". It was the "official school prom", but no one went except the lesbian girls, some random students, and a couple special ed students. All the other students went to a seperate prom that a large group of parents put together that those few weren`t invited to.

Also, I saw a new "PC" phrase today to describe the special ed children- "Neurologically Atypical" is apparently the most unoffensive way to refer to people with mental retardation, and if you don`t use it, you`re a horrible person.

How much we listen to lesbians about their sexuality is directly proportional to how hot they are. She`s ugly, ergo nobody cares what she has to say.

Mississippi IS an ass-backwards sorta state, unfortunately.

However, even if she didn`t have fun, I`m glad she acknowledged that the couple of kids there managed to have a great prom without being made fun of.

But it`s stupid as hell: they should have been able to dance and be merry with everyone, instead of having some group of hoighty-toighty parents hold a big party elsewhere.

this was ridiculous- the school canceled the whole prom after she protested when they wouldn`t let her go (because of her orientation), directly inviting vengeance from her classmates who she had to spend MONTHS more with. it was an act of violence and a crime. i`m glad the school system is now in court over this. my heart goes out to this girl.

The people that organized the private prom had to do so because of her actions. Did she really expect to get invited?

She`s just one more person that learned when you try to force society to participate in (insert social cause/lifestyle/religion here), society pushes back and says `You are free to do what you want, but you won`t do it with us`.

"I don`t agree with homosexuality for religious and social reasons,"

It is not your place to disagree with other people`s innate traits. There are no honest `social reasons` for any bias against homosexuals, nor are there any accurate religious reasons, within Christianity, Judaism and Islam, for any such bias either.

Don`t blame your prejudice on anything other than yourself.

"The people that organized the private prom had to do so because of her actions. Did she really expect to get invited?"

Your post is more than a little reality challenged. Since "her actions" were a response to their prior action of illegal discrimination, they are entirely responsible for their disgusting display of cruel and malicious, infantile behavior.

"She`s just one more person that learned when you try to force society to participate . . ."

Wrongo Marylou. The societal response to this has overwhelmingly rebuked the school, the parents, and her peers for their atrocious behavior. Those kids have wrecked their lives because their actions are now on the internet for every HR department, every college admission board to see, and they`ll be seen as posing a high risk of involving any business or school in a messy, expensive discrimination lawsuit.

If only you`d used your real name too - prejudice is no longer acc

Now it`s not just a matter of conspiring the segregation of same sex couples but the learning disabled as well!

"The people that organized the private prom had to do so because of her actions. Did she really expect to get invited? "

When they were in court, the judge didn`t force the school to reinstate the prom SOLELY because the school board promised she would be "welcome and encouraged to attend" the private prom. When they didn`t invite her she asked for the promised invitation and they sent her to the fake prom.

Well to be fair you can`t PROVE that he`s ugly. Having no picture doesn`t automatically mean that he has a face for radio.

You`re probably right, but I just had to point that out.

It is not your place to disagree with other people`s innate traits.

I am sure that you, like everyone else, judges people who act on their innate traits when you don`t like what they do. Some people, for example, have an innate trait of sociopathy.

There are no honest `social reasons` for any bias against homosexuals,

It`s fairly common in many societies, therefore there are social reasons for it. That`s all a social reason is - what your society trains you to do.

nor are there any accurate religious reasons, within Christianity, Judaism and Islam, for any such bias either.

That`s a matter of interpretation, and you`re very much against the mainstream interpretation.

I can go as far as arguing that maybe Christianity isn`t really meant to be against homosexuality, possibly, but I couldn`t rule it out. For Judaism and Islam, I couldn`t even go that far.

America is to god damn liberal. Every liberal group claims that the Constitution protects all their rights and try to change the parts that don`t saying that they are "unconstitutional." America is going to poo because of how liberal it is becoming. Look at any other country in the world and tell me they are less conservative then the U.S. (Canada excluded because it is Canada) If a state or a school has a law or rule that doesn`t allow certain behavior then so be it. The government is to afraid of the personal feelings of a single person that they`re willing to alter the lives of thousands of others.
    (let the debate ensue)

More relevantly in this case...I could make a pretty strong case that Christianity isn`t meant to be agianst homosexuality *between women*. Nearly all of the references are specific to men. But it remains true that we`re talking about interpretation.

Feel free to flame me. You might like to take into account these facts:

    i) I`m bisexual.
ii) I think that there isn`t any significant difference between homosexuality and heterosexuality.

Lblaxplaya20, i`m all for being mad at people who want too much and complain when they don`t get it. However, why is it unconstitutional to fire someone for being gay, but it`s perfectly fine to discriminate against them at school? If by "too liberal" you mean freedom then damn I hope it gets liberal as hell in that sense. These guys just said "Hm what`s the best way to be an ass to this lesbian? I know make everyone blame her for prom getting canceled! High Five bro!" So in conclusion,Lblaxplaya20, stop hate mongering over something that is not a big deal and shut up.

Holding a fake prom with people they just didn`t want around is absolutely horrible. I feel bad for her and I hope they get their act together and grow up! She did nothing wrong but try to express her sexual orientation by bringing her date, it`s not like they were doing it on the dance floor or anything.

@KrazyKoala, You misinterpreted what I was saying. All I meant was that if a company or school has a rule that says "you cannot do this" then you can`t do it. But the government is so scared of offending one person that they are willing to change the whole system to satisfy them. On the other hand, if the aforementioned job or school has no rules against something and then discriminates against it, that I think is wrong. In this case the school had a rule saying no gay prom dates, and therefore there should be no gay prom dates. It is a rule, abide by it or move, that simple. Sorry for the mix up.

The thing that makes me mad is that if she had brought her girlfriend along as just a "friend," the school probably would not have even batted an eye. The mere idea that McMillan had feelings that ran deeper for this girl caused the whole school to spaz out in homophobic revulsion. Then to regress to elementary school and ostracize her for wanting her girlfriend to share that experience with her...people make me sick sometimes.

My post was about my surprise that she was caught off guard by being ostracized.

If she were my kid, I`d have backed her up 100%...but I also would`ve have made sure that she was psychologically prepared for the fact that rocking that particular boat in that community just might incur some type of social backlash.

I did not say the school or the parents were in the right, so drop the `prejudice` card and practice some critical thinking skills before you initiate personal attacks.

Tay-Dor, do you want to collect your ignorance and just leave please?
liberalism and tolerance for others, be it in their beliefs, opinions, or sexual preference, should never be viewed as a negative. And your comment on Islam just reinforces the mental image you have conjured to all of us with your idiotic comments...

At the very least they couldn`t just not invite her? Instead they went out of their way to arrange a fake prom for her and all the other kids they don`t like? These parents have the mentality of a 10 year old.

They are called `Invitations` for a reason and they can exclude anyone without naming a reason.
It`s one thing to not invite someone to a party, it`s another to arrange another fake party and send them there. That`s just an immature and a$$hole move.

immature and a**hole is the whole theme of high school. The sad part is that the parents got in on it. I wonder what could have motivated them?

instead of picking one student out and the faculty allowing actions like this. They need to find someone who can say... you want to act like this? Fine no prom... i didn`t have a prom... so stop crying, do some homework or something. On another note stop tripping. It`s prom, if your whole family fails to show up at your gay wedding. Then you can be upset.

    @glassjawdave.

"You do realize you`re comparing a country to a continent, right?"

The United States is a union of individual states (the clue is in the name).

The European Union is a union of individual states.

I don`t consider it unfair to compare them.

    @Puddingbrood

"You`re including the east of the EU, the west has already surpassed the US"

It wouldn`t be fair to make that comparison though, as the US could equally turn around and just select its wealthier states to compare with Western Europe.

Comparing the whole entities, we`re wealthier than the US in actual terms, but not as much when you measure population differences into it. We`re hardly lazy and failing, however, which is the point I`ve been aiming to make.

And the more prosperous states in Europe tend to be the ones that are more socially liberated. Whether social liberation causes prosperity, or prosperity allows social lib

Ok...im pissed. This whole article is a joke. When the first Prom was canceled there were three proms planned by three different parents/organizations. No knew which one to go to. While all this was going on, Constance was in California and New York getting the "OMG SHE IS SUCH A VISIONARY" treatment from everyone. She didn`t ask where the "popular" prom was, no one else knew which one to go to. When she got back, of course she got a couple of cross glances from time to time, but no one gave a damn. Invites were not sent out to the student body for a specific prom. Constance decided that the three days before prom, she`d just not show up because she was "sad from the bullying" (bullpoo might i add). She also had a new phone Perez Hilton gave her with a new number, no one could call her. On Prom Night (The night she returned), Constance and her GF decide to go to the closest one...which was a poorly made prom. She didnt pay attention to the local

That sucks, but is still hilarious because of the sheer sneakiness of the parents that went to the trouble to organize a fake from for a lesbian girl.

So you have to be a hot lesbian to make it in ur book? F>U>C>K YOU! You are an idiot.. and even worse you SHOULD be old enough to judge someone on their merits other than their looks... but i guess we cant just assume age merits maturity... as YOU just showed so well.

Well, I know someone who`s a little bit offended... Don`t take it personally, jokes are jokes. Also, I`m pretty sure the "hot lesbian" thing is a huge fetish all over, so you shouldn`t judge other people because of their tastes :) Let them dream.
