calling 112 wouldn`t help at all...some people are just cruel...now so many people are going to call that number and the lady will say "this is not a valid 10 digit number...i hate you...you suck"....tsk tsk....

Admirably fought, and several good points! Just leave the trolls alone, we can only guide a horse to water, we cannot make the ignorant horse in question drink it.

Love your slamdunk about the indigenous Americans. ^^

It`s an open square. You are, in all likelyhood, looking at the exact area where the supposed assault takes place, and thus, when a film appears to be running irl, with you in it, you don`t check to see if a medic truck and muggers have magically appeared where there was nothing before.

I think this is a purely genius idea! I love it, and it should be in more places than just there.

>>No, it was bluescreened in BEFORE, the rest was a live feed.

If that`s a live feed, why aren`t they showing people turning around to see what`s going on? Ok, maybe a lot of apathy - but you can`t tell me people aren`t going to at least turn around and take a look. Something just doesn`t add up with this.

Now you are getting the idea. You DON`T want to end up like the native Americans or Australian aboriginals. So be careful.

Part of WHAT problem? The problem of democracy? Well, I better start making racist comments towards my mother and her religion before our country gets invaded by Muslim immigrants, wouldn`t want to end up like the Native Americans, huh? If I may ask, how long have you lived in Europe?

I guess that you are part of the problem then. Google "Sweden Muslim immigration".

I feel bad for Europe.

We "let the Muslims come over"? Come over from where? My mother "came over" to Sweden from Finland and she`s Muslim. I think what you meant to say was we let Arabs come over? Foreigners in general maybe? Either way, why the drat would we want to do anything? Someone born in Egypt who moves to Sweden and becomes a Swedish citizen has the right to demand law changes just like those who were born here, it`s called freedom and democracy.

No, we are doing something about the Mexicans. Check the news for what Arizona just started.

You guys let the Muslims come over and demand law changes and all kinds of crap, and just like the people in the vid, you stand by and do nothing.

Touche on the homeless guy though, but thats what NY is all about.

"stupid Europeans
that`s why the Muslim extremists are taking over Europe, because you all just stand there and do nothing"

So the reason illegal immigrants are entering the US is because Americans let homeless heroes bleed to death on the street after saving a woman from assault? Dumbass.

Actually just to be annoying and picky Spelt is actually the past and past participle of spell in the Oxford English Dictionary and since English spellings were around before any other `English` speaking countries it is correct.

Hey, hey, don`t forget, you`re talking to an Irishman there. If there ever was a country that cared "about stuff to die, or kill for" it`s goddamn Ireland.

Also you spelt `your` wrong.

@siyanor "there seem to be quite a few middle aged African American men in Amsterdam"

Like TR-Wolf says, they`re not African American outside of America. They`re just black (or "of African descent" if you`re scared of not being PC).

Interesting point on international awareness, which I personally think speaks volumes...

This is a true fact, I`ve tested it on both sides of the Atlantic. In Europe, although the emergency number is 112, they`ve set it up so that the unfamiliar visitor who dials 911, or 999, or 000, will ALL be automatically connected to emergency services. If it`s an emergency, then we`re on it, no matter where you`re from.

I just tried the converse, dialling 112 from North America. No dice. Got a recorded operator telling me I dialled the wrong number. Wouldn`t help me much if I was an Italian on vacation watching my wife being raped at gunpoint.

"What? You didn`t research that before you came here? Your own fault. F*ck y`all. You`re on yer own, bub."
So... the people don`t react to something that`s not there... because it was bluescreened in later... and this means... what? It would make sense if they showed actual footage of people actually not reacting to an actual crime, but this is just really stupid.
No, it was bluescreened in BEFORE, the rest was a live feed. And if it was just a vid of a previous incident, people would`ve just ignored it. What arrested people and made them stop and take notice was that they were actually in the scene, like seeing yourself on the big screen at a sports game.

Besides, seemed like a lot of people stopped to stare and watch... which in my book means its was effective at getting the message across.

Hey, I didn`t call anyone stupid. I was responding to 5Cats who said "people in Europe are f*cktards". I`m not knocking Canada at all, just blanket ignorant statements like that one. Besides, people in Europe are not submissive, far from it.

Hey, I like Canada so much, I emigrated here several months ago. True story.

See how political correctness lead you astray.
Ever considered that black people don`t all come from the USA?
The Netherlands have ties with the Antilles and Suriname. Those people in the movie are far more likely to ve from those countries.

And no, aggression against paramedics is far more likely to come from drunk Dutch men or teenagers from Morocco.

"Don`t know about the US, but in Australia, 000 is the Emergency number, and 112 is the Emergency number from mobile phones"

Ah!!!
So, you guys just discovered that "911" is a North American thing, eh?

Like, in Britain, isn`t it 999?

In the US, if you hit "911, send" or just "9, send" on a mobile with a charge, it should work, even if the phone is not activated.

It`s not so much crime fighting as it`s raising awareness. I like concept, but there`s a reason people have come up with the name Bystander Effect.

Don`t know about the US, but in Australia, 000 is the Emergency number, and 112 is the Emergency number from mobile phones. I guess they`re assuming you`re not using your house phone to call in this instance.

It is a great idea, but it is also one that will not accomplish what they are trying to.
It is more of a "Hey, look at this! This is so kick ass!" When, what you really should be trying to get is "Hey! Whats going on? What can we do?".

Police: Okay, send the paramedics home, call the coroners.

BTW, I know what some people are thinking. And no, I am not being racist. If you think I am, read the comment, then kill yourself for being an idiot. African Americans are statistically more likely to help in cases of street violence.
