Also, Neagle, India and Pakistan were never at any time nor are right now part of the Middle East. This ritual by the way happens daily and is awesome. Hundreds of people travel every day from across both countries, its like a holiday.

"If they only put half as much effort into building infrastructure, they might get somewhere."

You obviously need to visit either country to know how ignorant that statement really is.

"No mustaches where hurt during this ceremony."
Out of all the stupid antics done in the Middle East in the name of tradition, this was kind of cool.

Yes he did. Yes he did. And now, to something completely different: the art of not being seen. All officers in this clip failed.

it wouldn`t be so bad if they weren`t breaking bearing so terribly. its pretty pathetic actually, there out of sync and have individually slightly different and tweaked movements. drill at its worst ladies and gentlemen, and i`m on a drill team.

British ruled subcontinent for approximately 200 years, Muslims and Hindus fought a war with british named War of Independence, which they lost, later british left sub continent and before leaving they divided the land into 2, 1 for muslims and other for hindus. And left kashmir as pain in @ss for both countries. Pls, Its our traditional police dresses, you white wears like your dress so don`t be curious.

Pakistan was a part of india once. But they had a really bloody war back in the 1940`s to seperate. There is obviously still a lot bad blood over Kashmeir.

Well at least there`s one person I can always count on to deliver the haterade.

Face off! I`m with India on this one because... @LazyMe484 Yes Pakistan was part of India at some point but religion divided them.

@LazyMe484: Yes, Pakistan was once a part of India. The official state of Pakistan was carved out of a chunk of what was then British India in August 1947.

Also nice to see people who have pride in what they are doing.

wow reading the comments was funny...ok i will explain it as i am Indian.
it is sort of hard for people to understand this unless u are not from one of these counteries..
well first off the partition of india and Pakistan was very brutal..a lot of people were killed...
this ceremony is a way to try to show some sort of unity for the lack of a better word. both the countries here are trying to be better...that is why for the ridiculous walk and angry faces.
Indian and Pakistani`s are still very hostile towards each other
Are they actually closing the border? Is it to keep out the muslims? Mabie, but if not, what is the ultimate point of this ceremony?
There are Muslims on both sides of the border and note that Pakistan (mostly Muslim) closes their gate as well as India (mostly Hindu).

My guess is that it symbolises the seperation and independence of the two countries and was probably more seriously aggressive in the past.
guys its weird, but its not too much weirder then the english guards that cant make a face and wear the tall hats.
My favourite is the formal opening of the UK Parliament. No silly walks, but laden with symbolism. It also involves closing a gate of sorts - the main doors to the main chamber of the House of Commons. They`re ceremonially slammed in the face of the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod (how`s that for a title?) because he is the messenger of the monarch (who is forbidden to enter the House of Commons). It represents the independence of the Commons from the state. Exquisitely formal all round, except for the members of the Commons joking and dawdling on their way to the House of Lords (the same symbolism).

I liked that part. It looked all serious and angry and then they go: "Have a nice night."

This is genuine and is a fantastic ritualistic closing of the border signifying the seperation of Pakistan from India but note at the end the little handshake signifies its all in fun.

I was going to call April fools, but I looked, and apparently this is real. I have to say it`s an AWESOME way of dealing with tension at the border. They obviously are in on it together, and try to out do each other in a civilized way. These two countries have a stormy past, afaik, and to get together like this is just a message to the world, I think.

Probably purely ceremonial like the changing of the guards in London UK :)
