That shows that either you embrace discrimination and oppression, or you don`t understand the issue of GLBTQ civil right (including military service) abortion rights, and an African-American Republican running as Democrat.

I find the thought of having sex with another guy to be a gross one, but to discriminate against someone because of such an inclination is pretty much as stupid as it gets.

Maybe not so much for the United States (other than when we bow before the Almighty Dollar), but when the Muslims declare a Jihad, it`s kind of tough to say that they aren`t doing it in the name of religion.

Look, I know that what happened to this man was an act of discrimination (and a rather backwards way for the army to set it`s priorities. Then again, the whole war was pretty backwards)

But on the other hand, if I were conscripted during that time, I would`ve tried anything to get away from the madness!!

My personal beliefs are that war in a practical sense is obsolete, and serves no ultimate purpose.

And so, although I certainly approve of the message here, it doesn`t resonate as much with me as it does with some of you guys.

... put another way... I look at this and I think "yes, war sucks and so do gay-haters", but that`s about it.

I have nothing against gays in the military, but I just worry about the logistics. Will there be separate bunks and showers? Do they shower with the women? Don`t they need to respect the straight soldiers right to comfortable living quarters?

Put me in a shower with a bunch of naked women and no matter how professional and stoic I try to be, trust me, it would be awkward. I may just be trying to clean my balls and next thing you know the shower clears and I have a raging hard-on. Just saying...It would be awkward.

He didn`t get discharged for "loving" another man, he probably got discharged for "f***ing" another man. I don`t think it`s the loving another man the military has a problem with.

This was a case of discrimination, but I doubt he got kicked out for sending love letters. However, I could be entirely wrong.

Are you saying you can`t sleep in the same room with, or shower near, a woman, without needing to frak her? Separate showers and dorms are a waste of resources, so if that applies to the men/women thing, how does it not apply to the gay/straight issue?

I`m all for equality but I saw a huge difference in the way gay guys acted in the military as opposed to the way gay guys act in the gym. I think if they allowed gays in the military that difference would cease to exist and
    a) the amount of straight guys enlisting would drop dramatically
    b) we`d start seeing a lot more gay hate crimes
    c) the navy would turn into royal cribbean

Lion, I can be in the same room with a woman and possibly even shower with one and not want to "frak" her, but put me in a group shower with 10 other women everyday for months at a time and something awkward is bound to happen. I`m pretty sure the women would be much more uncomfortable than me.

2 quick questions....You`re in middle of 3 hour long fire fight with entrenched enemies. I pause the fight and tell you that I`ll give you 100 more soldiers right now..the one catch is that they are gay. what do you say? The second your driving in a caravan down a dusty desert road. I tell you that in the next 30 miles you will encounter 2 large IED`s. We could find out exactly but we would have to use a gay translator. what do you say?

beeze, I say let`s use the gay guy, but just like a women would say about a straight man, I`d still prefer not to shower with him (that`s the only point I`m making so your argument is somewhat off-topic) and I think that is my right.

lupus, you are right. But the vast majority of all men are horn dogs and it should be the same for gay men. Unless they`re different in some way beyond their sexual preference.

This `War` is not over oil or religion. First off, America doesn`t get any oil from Iraq. Secondly Afghanistan has none. The radical muslim extremists love to try to misguide people into thinking America is on a `Crusade` against muslims. Such is not the case, We helped the muslims in Serbia and tried to protect them from the `ethnic cleansing` in eastern Bosnia.
We took back Kuwait from Saddam Hussien.

American forces have spilled a lot of blood for muslims and what did we get in return ? 9/11.

This is not about oil, religion, or imperialism, It`s about preventing another attack on America. We have succeeded, In that respect, So far.

The war is not about oil or religion, it`s about distracting and controlling US citizens. The government needed and excuse to go to war, so they staged a terrorist attack (9/11), and went to war with Iraq so that they could take away our freedoms in the name of "protecting" us from "terrorists", all in preparation for the new world order.

    Trufax people, do your research.

    CrakrJak, could not agree more.

People seem to forget that the role of our government is to protect and serve the United States. That`s it. Nothing more. All the junk about serving the good of the world is a bonus, but the main reason for the existence of the government is to protect its citizens without regard to anyone or anything outside of it.

If every government put its own people first then things would balance out. Just like Congressman here. I vote for someone to look out for me. If his main goal is to serve people from another state, then I don`t want him or her as my representative.

    Cool story.

Fire has never in history caused a building to collapse, thermite is in a number of explosives, that tire was proven to not be from a Boeing-757, the hole in the pentagon was nowhere near the size of a Boeing 757, there is no video footage of a plane hitting the pentagon, as all videos taken from nearby buildings were confiscated by the US government (Doho big coincidence amirite.), all video footage of the planes hitting the trade center show a large flash just before impact, videos also show a large missile shaped figure on the bottom of the planes, pictures and videos also show that the planes that hit weren`t even united airlines planes, pictures of the crash site of flight 93 show a distinct lack of burnt grass.

What else do you have to show me. You should go watch some videos about this stuff, you can`t just take everything everyone tells you as fact, do some independent, non-biased research. Whatev, it`ll all be clear soon enough, peace.

kika, Bush and his "cronies" who supposedly maliciously started this war are now out of office. They didn`t take over the world. They failed in the eyes of the conspiracy nuts. They`re not in power anymore, but things continue. Get over your paranoia.

I find it funny that anti-Bush people always point to paranoia. But where`s the real paranoia? It`s with those who think they`re own government is out to get them.

Not to say we shouldn`t be vigilant and cautious about our government, but in this case, get over it. Mistakes were made, but no grand plan to control people was ever underway.

kika, for 9/11 to be a conspiracy, how many people would have to go along with it or know about it? Easily thousands. It only takes one person with any credibility to step forward and expose it all. Plus, there`d be millions in book deals waiting for them.

It doesn`t matter who`s in office, all presidents since JFK were puppets, and JFK was assassinated because he spoke out against the shadow government. Obama is a puppet and will change nothing, all he will do is sign more bills that take away more freedoms, which he`s been really good at.

Nobody has failed at taking over the world, cause it`s not as simple as them just swooping in with a ray gun and taking control of the world, it`s about gradually brainwashing and desensitizing people to were when they realize they`ve lost all freedom, it will have been too late.

And people have exposed it, crap I`M exposing it right now, but any and everyone that does is called crazy and ignored, exactly what`s happening RIGHT NOW. It`s not that hard to understand people, it really isn`t.

"Fire has never in history caused a building to collapse..."

kika, fire may have never caused a building to collapse, but a 2400 lb. wrecking ball has. How about a 700,000 lb wrecking ball going a couple hundred miles an hour? Could that possibly knock a building down?

I`m just asking. I mean, you`re the one who`s watched all the videos.

OK, I didn`t want to help keep these comments going off-topic here, but this is really, REALLY dumb. And wrong to boot.

"Fire has never in history caused a building to collapse..."

Then someone should have told that to the apartment building next to mine. Two years ago I saw it get gutted by fire and COLLAPSE. It sure as hell did, and it was a brick building too.

Fire makes buildings collapse ALL THE TIME.

"Fire makes buildings collapse ALL THE TIME."

No, it doesn`t. Granted saying a building has NEVER collapsed from fire is probably wrong, but buildings have been on fire for as long as 7 days without collapsing, and that`s without special measures taken to prevent them from collapsing, which the world trade center buildings were built with fires in mind.

I have no problem with gay people, in fact I simply don`t care who anyone has sex with loves or marries be they man or woman. What bothers me is when someone is all in my face about it like they assume I give a poo ,like they have to prove some point to me because they assume that I am going to judge them based on their sexuality.

kikayoaka: They weren`t built with loaded 737`s full of fuel exploding and damaging the cores of the buildings, In mind. Btw, That`s 35,000 gallons of jet fuel in each plane.

I shown you a link, With pictures, Showing the floors and beams bending before they collapsed. I`m guessing you didn`t look at them.

"The building was not able to withstand the intense heat of the jet fuel fire. While it was impossible for the fuel-rich, diffuse-flame fire to burn at a temperature high enough to melt the steel, its quick ignition and intense heat caused the steel to lose at least half its strength and to deform, causing buckling or crippling. This weakening and deformation caused a few floors to fall, while the weight of the stories above them crushed the floors below, initiating a domino collapse." Source

Nice sound bite, albeit from a dead person, but love should have nothing to do with the military. And that goes for women getting pregnant as well. If there`s one way to undermine the military this is it.

My Uncle was a career Navy guy. 30+ years. Died in 1997, buried full military honors in Arlington. His partner of 25yrs was relegated to a relatives seat. My aunt sat in the grieving widow spot and was handed the folded flag. DADT is shameful. It`s not our military if it`s not all Americans military.

This isn`t an actual headstone it`s just some gay rights propaganda but the point is pretty valid either way. What this says actually happens and it really shouldn`t.

I really don`t see why gays should be treated differently. They aren`t breaking laws and it is discriminatory to treat them differently in all other facets such as employment etc so why should military service be different?

Anyhow I`m not exactly all for gay rights or whatever I just think that what people want to do in the bedroom is their own dam business and no one else really has the right to infringe on another persons freedom.

I can understand some gay rights, but in the military, it creates problems. No, not just for homo-phobes @_@. Straight men living together with gay men is the problem. Think "group showers" and "the guy in the next bed over has a crush on you..."
