"entirely possible that you have a program that takes a list of names and places them in the "dear ____" slot"

yes. it`s called mailmerge. And everyone with Microsoft`s standard package has it I think - I think you need Microsoft Word and Access to use it...

> Why do people who hire staff always seem to be the dumbest person in the company?

You go to a small remote town where there are only 2 barbers. One has a shaggy, terrible haircut, the other is nice and clean and neat. You go to the one with the terrible haircut to get yours cut.

Why? Because logically, each must have done the other`s hair.

Obviously, logically, companies that don`t have a good Interviewer in the first place, cannot hire the best person for the job of Interviewer since the person interviewing them isn`t up to the job.

hah... That`s epic fail for someone who`s supposed to be `president` of whatever the company is.

My reply would have highlighted his failure a little more.

He was polite about it. I was expecting some big cursing rant at the end. However, he seemed to take it coolly and rationally.

"Why do people who hire staff always seem to be the dumbest person in the company?"
Because most of the time they are. Companies take no time and invest little money in hiring actual pros in the area of hiring. How ironic is that?

Ouch, dumbass employer alert. If I got a call from them I`d just say "Oh I already got the job, I start on Monday." Of course I`d never show up.

My response would`ve just been something along the lines of "Dear Sir, on reconsideration, I have no desire whatsoever to work for a company who`s efficiency and quality are so poor that it cannot ever send correspondence correctly. It beggars me to imagine the quality of product and service that such mismanagement produces. Please refrain from contacting me again, and try to lift your game for the sake of all the businesses out there who DO run well."

"not really that funny, just a bit smug. and his name is julius, which says it all really."

When you get rejected from a f*cking yogurt store after jumping through hoops like making up ads on the spot and describing the intricate details of a stupid penny, after the manager there keeps going on and on about the "quality of the yogurt" when you can taste how artificial the second-rate crap coming out of the dispensers is, maybe you`d understand the frustration this person is going through.

IssaTheFiend - I`ve had a better one. They actually bothered to print out the rejection letter and send it to me; while it was still a rejection letter (and as such, probably a copypasted fill-the-name-in-the-blank thing, it was pretty awesome to get - so many companies relying on email to do their dirty work these days...

the reply seems nice on the surface, but it seems pretty scathing in the "i`m gonna be really nice to you cuz i think you`re a moron" kind of way.
at least that`s what i made of it. Either way, it`s drating funny lol

Actually, this has happened to me once before. Where I inquired about a job and got a response back saying "Thanks for responding. We looked over your resume and you look like the perfect fit for our job! We would like to schedule an interview..."

Thing is, I didnt send my resume. So obviously I didn`t hit that job up on its interview.

at least he wasnt an ass about it. with a letter like this the president may move him to the top of the list.

How is he a douche? If I were an employer looking at this I`d be like "Wow, this guy is actually somewhat sharp. Maybe I should hire him."

Julius must be young, or just a douche. If I were this HR rep and rec`d that letter, I`d be happy to know that we rejected him based on his poor douchy resume and didn`t waste the time with an actual interview. Mistakes happen, and this guy is an unprofessional douche.

dewsh!!!
