I`ve actually got to agree with Angilion. "Free" would imply that you can have the phone without regard to a contract. By requiring you to have a contract in order to get the "free" phone, it ceases to be free as there is a requirement. If you want the phone without the contract it will cost you money. "No additional charge for phone with signed contract" would be accurate.

Angilion,

The phone ITSELF is free, meaning you don`t have to pay the amount the phone is worth just to own the phone. USING the phone, on the other hand, is what they`re charging for, which from what you posted the ad even says. It`s not contradicting itself at all.

i think its just a misplaced modifier to blame
i think they meant the deal is valued at five dollars, and is going to be free with the $10 purchase, just a thought *shrug*

I would show up with a semi tractor trailer truck and park it right in the middle then blast that stupid sign with a shotgun and pee on the store.

Free parking is $5 with purchase of $10?

So it`s really $15 for free parking?

Not much different than getting your parking validated by a merchant, its just worded differently is all.

This reminds me of a Fonejacker character who (supposedly) works in a India-based call centre selling "Internet Providings" and a dating service.

Nothing is `free` you end up paying for it one way or the other.

I think what it`s saying is when you spend $10, you get $5 worth of parking for free. So maybe you get like 2 hours or something, i don`t know how much they charge for parking in the US.

if you actually read the sign, it says with $10 purchase. It`s not difficult to work out, it`s free if you spend $10. Otherwise it`s $5

You can use "free" with anything nowadays. "300 Free Texts a month for just £10" etc.
That`s not at all worse. You`re not paying for the phone, you`re paying for minutes, texts and apps. It`s called a contract...
It`s not free if you have to pay £20 a month for it. The ad explicitly stated that it was a free phone for £20 a month. Which clearly contradicts itself.
