CNN lost it`s credibility long ago, it`s losing viewers fast and soon will be on-par with AlJazeera in terms of believability.

Al Jazeera isn`t actually as bad as people make out.

Yes it is biased. Is it more biased than any other news network? Not noticeably so.

I`d still trust, in order of believability:
BBC, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, Jazeera(English), ABC, NBC, Jazeera(Arabic), FOX.

You can read more about them, including their controversies here.

the fact that they probably have only US news or Entertianment set up as their homepage on CNN makes this comparison null and void. maybe were they on teh World news tab, then we could properly compare and contrast...all this shows is that americans don`t care about the world events, not that the news doesn`t cover it...

I`d say English Jazeera is higher than any American media on the believability scale, unless its about the Middle East, where there is obviously a bias. The best news source, though, is the Deutsche Welle. Not as accessible because its half German, half English, but it is the most politically neutral media organization that I have found. BBC isn`t as good as English Jazeera, but about equal to CNN. Of course, why watch any news media when you can get a better idea of whats going on from the internet.

What makes you think Al Jazeera is factual?
Al Jazeera displays news from all around the world.
Do you think people in the US care about someone "thinking" that we killed civilians in Iran, or about some stupid thing that the Taliban thinks?
    No, I don`t care.
Then again, I don`t really give a sh*t about Tiger Woods or the IPad either.

@vfr4 @Ballthazaq: Yeah, Al Jazeera is simply arabic news, a Qatar-based news joint, like BBC for British, CBC for Canadians, TF1 for France.
They are not really biased, other than being Arabic. Depending on where in the world, they are considered Pro-(Insert the other camp here).
I am happy about my newscasts from my place, I got no real reason to go elsewhere to see other news. I would probably choose otherwise if I`d be living in USA.

Oh yeah, BTW, I just did the experience ... cnn.com, no world news whatsoever (except 2 bullet points containing elements where US visit to another undisclosed country might be jeopardized) on the first screen. My screen is 1920x1200, and I could barely see the "World" box title in the bottom. That was my first cnn visit in months!

Actually, that was the CNN homepage yesterday. I don`t think the comparison is as invalid as you think. I didn`t check Al Jazeera`s site for comparison, but I`m pretty sure there wouldn`t have been too much emphasis on Tiger Woods. Our news in America has been skewing more and more to entertainment over the passing years, and that`s the fault of the majority of the public buying this type of tripe as opposed to supporting actual news organizations. BBC, Asian Times (www.at.com), Al Jazeera all have decent world news reporting. I`d trust any of them before Fox News or MSNBC.

CNN is just another part of the American `cage`. You/they don`t know their in a `cage` if they don`t look else where. Since the American electoral system has become a joke, rights and freedoms are what they were last century. and the continued allowance of multi-corporations to walk away with billions of dollars with out accountability. This is just a minor example of American media keep Americans dimmed out and stupefied.

Yeah except there biggest headline was about a leaked military video of the US massacring ~12 people (most of which where unarmed) I don`t think that qualifies as "they`re always killing each other". That would be you killing innocent civilians, not to mention that 2 kids where in the van that they just HAD to shoot up because civilians where collecting the dead and where trying to help an injured reporter from reuters. Kids where only injured which is about the only positive thing that happened, the US military wouldn`t even treat them, they waited for Iraqi police to show up to take them away to a hospital.

But yeah, that`s not news at all.

When terrorists hide amongst civilians, Use them as `Human shields`, Hide in mosques, etc... Eventually a few civilians will get hurt or killed.

I`ve seen many videos where the anti-terrorist units did not fire and or aborted bombings because they assumed civilians were present in the area.

Al-Jazeera frequently gets their `footage` wrong and have been caught photoshopping their pictures on several occasions. Plus I`ve never seen a story of theirs that was Pro-America, Even when American soldiers put their lives on the line to keep their reporters safe.

The video provides a rare, disturbing close-up of modern urban warfare at a time when violence was near its peak in Baghdad and the U.S. death toll was mounting. The soldiers flying attack helicopters had been called in to assist ground troops in the area who were pinned down by small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades.

In redacted copies of portions of its earlier inquiry into the July 2007 incident, the military said U.S. troops acted appropriately. Reuters employees were likely "intermixed among the insurgents" and difficult to distinguish because of their equipment, the document states.

After viewing the video on wikileaks a few times, It was pretty clear the reuters people were paling around with armed insurgents there. It certainly appeared that they were carrying guns and the people around them were carrying guns as well (but wikileaks didn`t bother to point them out in their video). Their cameras had long shoulder slings, Just like rifles and rpgs. There was no way to tell that the van had children in it, Even their `zoomed in` enhanced video of `the kids` shown only two white pixelated blurs.

The reporters were "palling around with terrorists"... where did I hear that before...
So they should just stay clear of the war zones and report what the high commands tells them to.
Had they been killed by an IED while "palling around" with marines to do their job , they would be heros , since they were doing their job tracking the other side, they had it coming.

What I find funny is how these people reporting what they call the murder or civilians by U.S. forces, say nothing of the people murdered by terrorist groups such as contractors. It is fine for the Muslims to murder, it just a horrible crime and a justification for terrorism when U.S. soldiers inadvertently kill civilians.

    Deuteronomy 20:16-18 (New International Version)
However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the LORD your God has commanded you. Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the LORD your God.

@MrBowserPuff: So you are saying that if Alaska was captured by the Russians, it is wrong for us to go to war to regain our territory?

@hknuddv: How so? They seem to be extremely pro-Islamic radical. Find me one article that talks about the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan or Iraq in even a neutral view. Or find me an article on the murdering of innocent civilians by terrorists (without somehow blaming it on the U.S.)

How does this make us dumb at all? You are the one coming on here making bold claims without anything to back them up.

3rd world health care system? /facepalm

Please cite the last time war was fought because of Christianity. What about the last time Christian terrorists blew up buildings in a non-Christian country. Oh wait...
Please cite where it says in The Bible that it is okay to murder.

Ok, first people complain about the news always reporting the bad stuff, then when it reports the good stuff, people STILL complain. It`s absurd.

    @ZNaught
You asked to cite a part of the bible that condones murder and you defend it by saying killing innocents isn`t technically murder when it`s done for the reclamation of property.

It`s not just murder god`s pushing here, read that part again - "... do not leave alive anything that breathes."

He`s commanding genocide. If that`s not worse than murder, then you have a very skewed sense of morality.

    >>then when it reports the good stuff

Tiger Woods and Apple fan-bots do not count as "good stuff".

Wow... That`s crazy... Not even a blink. It`s all over the news in Europe, you know, the "video- game-like" war with a reporter killed, and other civilian casualties... And my new favorite porn-star Tiger is touched! What`s that got to do with anything? Is that news?

And thus is why americans are ignorant when it comes to what is happening in the world. They are to busy with their Ipads and Paris Hilton and they don`t even know that on the other side of the world people are commit acts of murder. I am not talking about those US soldiers either but of all the bombings, IDE`s terrorist killing innocent people and so on. I am an american and it is shameful that so many others care more about whether or not paris hiltons poop is brown and don`t care about what is happening anywhere else.

I would argue that many Americans are ignorant about world issues just for this reason. They aren`t exposed to truthful, reliable, or relevant information through the media and don`t know that a) real news exists or b) where to find it.

erm.....thats why when i talk to Americans they don`t know what the drat i`m talking about. Its sad when you have 200 channels and they are owned by the same 4 corps. The Time, CNN, and FOX are the worst.
