QuinnNukem: It`s a re-release of footage at least 2 years old and it`s been resized down to Youtube res. Hardly surprising it doesn`t look as good as a modern game at ~10 times the resolution.

Have you played Duke Nukem: Eternity with the Polymer renderer? It`s the latest mod for DN3D, which is still being developed by fans, 14 years after release.

It`s a bit of a fuss to install, because you need the original DN3D .grp file, eduke32, dukeplus, the hi-res pack, the polymer renderer and Eternity.

Gameplay footage. YouTube, so it looks much better in actual play:
The reason PC advertisement is gone is because console game sales are far superior to PC game sales.
When you add all consoles together and ignore online sales, certainly.

Ignoring online sales reduces the apparent sales of PC games a lot more than the apparent sales of console games.

Developers prefer consoles because they`re easier to write games for due to hardware consistency. A PS3 is a PS3, an Xbox360 is an Xbox360...and a PC is one of many thousands of possible combinations of hardware with hugely varying levels of performance and even capability. Even with standard APIs, there are different versions supported by different hardware (e.g. DX9, DX10, DX11).

Console gamers are also used to paying and obviously willing to pay a lot more per game, especially older games. PC games quickly get re-released on budget labels, console games don`t.

Easier to develop for and bigger profit margins, so developers and publishers

For Xbox? How come no one ever shows trailers or gameplay videos from PC anymore? I think they should just keep it in development indefinitely. Where`s the fun in releasing it? Where will we get our joke material?

3DR should`ve released what they had in various stages, At least then they would`ve been seeing revenue. At some point you just have to let your project go and have a life of it`s own, Instead 3DR smothered Duke Nukem to death.

being raised on duke and playing all the games from the ghetto plat former to the 3d on the pc im stoked to play this. they have no excuse for it to look so damn bad tho. even in its day duke 3d looked beautiful and with bio shock 2 and modern warfare able to have such amazing graphics while supporting so much stuff the 13 years and some change in development should have given a boost to the graphics of duke forever. but regardless imma have to buy it since i love the duke franchise

tlshaman: "half-life meets borderlands"

Maybe, but both of those games actually look decent. Apart from a few little things (nozzle flash on guns, better use of physics, explosion quality) it looks like more of a PS2 game than an Xbox360/PS3. Also, the character truly does nothing for me and the occasional laughing/cursing commentary gets annoying in the 4-min video, I can`t imagine having to put up with it throughout 10-or-so hours of gameplay.

This actually doesnt look half bad i remember seeing in around 2008 leaked footage of duke nukem forever on Cracked but that was just really short but it did look alot like this, Also. I think this is Xbox 360 edition because when the duke was moving the lever it said (A), If this is really going to come out now then hopefully it`ll be on PC too. >.> I really doubt its going to really come out though.

Really, the reason 3D realms went under is because they were on their own schedule. If you are a game programmer, and you have your uppers saying "make this game by this time or you`re *punishment*" you`re going to make the game.

They didn`t have that pressure, and it just is never going to happen now.

damn dirty hippies.

There`s no way they`ll be able to complete this game, seeing how they were never satisfied with the engine.

If it ever did come out... I mean, it`s become legendary for NOT coming out, so right there it`s got tons of publicity. I have a feeling that if it ever comes out it`s going to sell tons of copies, just because of the novelty of actually existing.

That`s unlikely, though.

It`s not impossible to produce. Bethesda resurrected Fallout from its purchase of the intellectual property. They even admitted their nostalgia played a role in their purchase. And since Fallout 3 won GOTY, it may not be long before someone decides to take a change on DNF.

3DR should have just let fans make DNF, 14 years ago. They would have done a better job, much faster.

Incidentally, 3DR still technically exists as a business. It just doesn`t have any employees, any money, etc. It`s a shell to hold intellectual property, but it does mean that it is theoretically possible for it to be resuscitated. Mind you, if they couldn`t make DNF with 13 years and a huge pit of money, they`re hardly likely to be able to make it with whatever money they could find behind the fridge if they win the court case. And DNF will be behind the cutting edge again by then, so they`d start over like before and fail to keep up like before.

They had a hugely popular and lucrative franchise and they blew it in the most ridiculous way. Bizarre.

This is leaked footage from ages ago. 2007 if I recall correctly.

The game was never coming out. The only way it might come out now would be if another company acquired the IP, finished it and wrote it. 3DR had chance after chance after chance and blew it. Despite the fortune they made from DN3D, the Max Payne franchise and the other games they had a cut of, they still managed to throw all the money away failing to make DNF. Failing year after year after year. It`s quite remarkable.

DNF was allegedly due for release on the 1st of April 2010, according to a former employee. The date was a deliberate joke. It`s claimed they were that close to release when they ran out of money and T2 allegedly went for an IP grab (i.e. they want the rights to DNF).

DN3D is *still* being developed by fans, 14 years after release. It doesn`t look too bad with the polymer renderer, hi-res pack and remastered sound using the original equipment. New missions too.

Someone apparently has not realized that 3DRealms, the company that was making DNF, is out of business and closed for good.

For any holdouts: 3D Realms has officially shut the project down, so we`re never getting DNF... as awesome as it would be

What the hell... is this another one of fancyfags crappy postings? It was announced MONTHS ago that they were abandoning the project. All this footage is old and was around before they made the announcement. Letting me down once again IAB... gonna have to go back to 4chan.

I`m pretty sure some of this is old footage. In fact I found another video dated February 2010, and another 11 Month old video with some of the footage in this video.

I wouldn`t be surprised if someone has taken all available footage and thrown it into one video, instead of this being an official video by the developers.
