But it`s the idiots standing outside of the vehicles who are defying death.

I was just waiting for one of the bikes to shoot over the side and collect some of the bystanders o_O

"The only actual force present when people talk about centrifugal force is called CENTRIPETAL FORCE. This is something you`re supposed to learn in Physics Grade 11/12."

Strictly speaking, isn`t there no centripetal force either? Centripetal acceleration is the result of other forces, the sum of which is directed perpendicular to the axis of movement and towards the center of curvature.

That was awesome! I fb`d it!

And to hi2pi:
I actually learned the correction in middle school. :) Maybe some people went to crappy schools where they weren`t taught the term at all?

You know when you watch a professional do something incredibly dangerous and you`re not worried because you know they are experts? Well, this is not one of those times.

hi2pi, don`t be a know-it-all, c`mon. some people don`t have physics offered at their highschools, doesn`t mean they are trying to ruin your day.

CENTRIFUGAL FORCE IS NOT AN ACTUAL FORCE. The only actual force present when people talk about centrifugal force is called CENTRIPETAL FORCE. This is something you`re supposed to learn in Physics Grade 11/12.

vv @almightybob are you being a geek about the difference between centriFUGal and centriPETal forces? OR something else?
LEt the masses have their fun a-m-bob! Let them believe Pluto is a planet, or the Earth orbits the Sun in a cirlce, lolz!
Anyhow this for sure is real, eh? They`ve been doing it in stunts and circuses since cars were invented!

There IS such a thing as centrifugal force, but it isn`t what people usually think it is, and it isn`t present here.

"what people will pay 10rl for these days."

Thats about 15p or 20cents. I love India, the health and saftey brigade just doesn`t exist out there. I saw a guy working on a sloping roof about 5 stories up and he had a saftey rope, but it was in his hand. Not tied to him in any way and he just kept putting it down and working away.

Patticakes, you`re misinformed; people do this in the good ole` USA. In New Hampshire (Live free or Die!) on bike weekend up north, this is a popular sideshow. I went and saw one of these shows in goddamn grade school on a field trip no less.

@Patticakes- What does this have to do with the government? Are you talking about people not doing this because the owners would be liable if somebody got killed?

That and you can see how few people were actually watching the show-like 30 people tops-it just wouldn`t be very profitable here if everybody was just paying three bucks per ticket. After one or two visits the novelty would wear off and you`d go spend your money some place else...and they`d go out of business.

But in that country there probably aren`t a ton of other options for entertainment, so people repeatedly go to the show week after week, allowing it to be a legitimate business.

That just goes to show how much government has grown in this country. We don`t have the liberty of doing anything like that anymore because of so many rules, regulations, and laws.

I`m not exactly a physicist but shouldn`t the car be going a lot faster to "stick" to the wall like that?
Is it just me, or does that look to be made out of rickety wood?
It`s not just you. At one point, you can see the spectators` area shaken by a passing vehicle. So it`s rickety. Which makes it more awesome.

I understand how this works.

I wouldn`t do it.

Centrifugal force isn`t a real force in this situation, just the perception of one. The car`s momentum wants to go in a straight line but the wall pushes it in a curve. This is a centripetal force.

Sorry, physics classes have made me a bit frustrated about people using them wrong.

Centripetal? I think reactive centrifugal force is what`s going on here... Without the outbound force, the cars would not be able to stick to the walls.

It`s not so much that it is awesomely dangerous...

It`s that it look like it`s made of rickety wood... I mean, at the bottom you can see all the cracks and how it looks like it was put together my high schoolers.
