Take a dive through Austria"s Green Lake, where a beautiful hiking trail, complete with benches, lies frozen in time.

@oldollie...they were wearing dry suits not wet and with out the SCUBA units you can only stay under for a few seconds and can not get the same video and pics. At those depths the diver can stay under for up to an hour and maybe more.

@MrBowserPuff, I can believe it`s cold, so I understand the wetsuits, but why the underwater breathing gear? It just seems a little overkill to me when you could just walk/swim along with a mask and maybe a snorkel and see the same things.

@OldOllie: Austrian lakes can be very cold... A lot of foreign divers die in our lakes, because their equipment freezes/sometimes you can`t event see your own hands.

Why all the fancy SCUBA gear? It looks like the whole lake`s only about chest deep.

I keep thinking: a lonely old man was reincarnated back to his childhood backyard as a fish

Just so everyone knows the story behind this
Tragöß is a municipality in the district of Bruck an der Mur in Styria, Austria. It is home to Green Lake (Grüner See), which dries out almost completely in the fall. In the spring the lake is filled with snow melt runoff. This gives the lake crystal clear water, the existing rocks and meadow give the lake its green color.

That was truly amazing. I`ve swam in some pretty clear water in my life, but never in water that clear. If I lived in Austria, this would be on my list of things to do.

@ScottSerious

agreed. Also, this can`t be Austrian, since my Austrian neighbor has a broken leg. They obviously don`t have broken legs, so they can`t hail from Austria, duh!

Apparently it floods every year. I`m assuming that means it`s dry at some other point in the year, which would explain the grass and other plant life

Beautiful... if this is a result of global warming, then let`s start crank the heaters to full blast!

Apparently it`s real, go on the video description and read the note at the side.

Must`ve flooded relatively recently. Grass, Flowers, And trees still growing underwater. That`s likely why the water is still so clear as well.
