Ah, I guess I did overlook that, but even then, it`s estimated that only 12 in short succession can ruin the climate and atmosphere, they could just attempt to get them as spread out as possible in an attempt to destroy the whole dang ecosystem by having them detonate regardless of direct damage. they only have 10, but that`s still enough to ruin a good chunk of Asia, possibly more.

"Kim Il Jong is nothing but a two bit meglomaniac dictator. He can`t go to war because his army would flee. Yet America has 40k troops protecting the DMZ... How can you feel safe when you know your getting raped?"

Kim Jong Il has an army that believes the rest of the world is the cause of the misery in North Korea. He could do an awful lot of damage before any significant fleeing. He could level Seoul.

It`s not 40k troops- below 30k now, and Korea pays about half the upkeep cost. There`s also not much at all at the DMZ. Most of those bodies are stationed further south, waiting for NK to get stupid. They work and train side by side with the South Koreans, who were pretty much slaughtered during the war but have become a very respectable force of their own. In fact, operational command and control has been handed over to the ROK and we`re falling back to even more of a support/advisory function.

I don`t know who you think is getting raped.

"I know that`s not the point, but why does russia have more nukes than us? that`s just wrong "

usarguy- whats wrong? that another country has more weapons then you? it sucks for you i guess, but its not "wrong". there are other, bigger, and some even better, countries in the world other than america. its wrong you think your better than everyone else, if anything.

man looking at this thing though makes me more and more glad to live in a free country. only one party to vote for??yikes.

Damn straight. Every mathematics, science, and literature course is just chock-FULL of propoganda. They`s brainwashin` our children! Thankfully we have the NRA and holy warriors of the Republican Party to oppose the liberals/communists/satan.

Right - we`re the enemy.

Yeah - haha - so much for dismantling the military-industrial complex through socialist government entitlement.

In a sense he and his father DID create the world - at least the delusional one under which their citizens are forced to persist.

When there is no concrete limitation on government intervention into the private domain, with tangible (and violent, if necessary) recourse for citizens, this can ALWAYS be the result. It can ALWAYS go this far - whether it begins with health-care monopolization (single-payer), or progressive income-redistribution (centralized planning, meal tickets, artificial price floors), it always evolves into totalitarianism because that is the ONLY way any command economy can manifest itself.

P.S. - next time we declare a war on Terror, we should be invading THIS f*cking country.
The only problem is the nukes, they have enough to release the equivalent of 10% of the sun. (Correct me if I`m wrong, I can`t remember where I heard that)
You heard it from someone that hasn`t got a clue. Not the faintest sign of a clue. So far from a clue that they couldn`t even see a clue with the Hubble telescope.

If you somehow turned the rest of the entire solar system into one big nuke, it wouldn`t release anything close to the equivalent of 10% of the sun. It wouldn`t even get close to 1%.

Every planet, every asteroid, every comet, every speck of dust, somehow made into a nuke...and it still wouldn`t be within an order of magnitude of the yield you claim for North Korea`s nukes.

Ya, what was the point of the state-run schools part? I go to public school (which is state-run). Is it that 8% of time is spent on political propaganda and nationalism? The U.S does that too (e.g the pledge every morning, and culturally biased social science textbooks [I mean, my government book says its a fact that global warming is caused by man and urges environmentalism, for crying out loud]).

The blood of virgins and banished short people rumors are almost certainly not true, and I think the 50,000 political prisoners are not guilty of crimes -- since they`re POLITICAL prisoners and all. We call the ones actually guilty of crimes just prisoners.

Well...that was pretty damn inaccurate.
First- Kim and Stalin didn`t "decide to start the Korean War," but it was a more or less unilateral decision by Kim that Stalin ended up reluctantly supporting.
Second- No mention of Juche, that whole, you know, state ideology North Korea runs on? Ok...

There`s also the bit about "Communist morality", whatever that is. The DPRK is not Communist, its current constitution doesn`t mention the word, etc.
Crazy despotism, yes. Communist, no.

Another Korean war would be another insurgent war. Unfortunately, Democratic countries and developed countries who have access to televisions cannot win insurgent wars. Because of television, our attention span is that of a 5 year old. If we can`t have results by the top of the hour, it`s not worth it. Unfortunately things cannot be accomplished like that.

Plus with Soviet and Chinese backing, no one could win a war against N.Korea.

0

Male 17,512
The horror of North Korea rests solidly in it`s support from China. If China ever turned on them, They`d collapse within a year.

It`s going to be a stunning wake up call one day when North Koreans realize they`ve been lied to for generations.

We can`t afford or win that war. Even if the impossible happened and all the major military powers allied to conquer north Korea, it would still be a horror. Millions would die and it would drag on for a lifetime at least. You`d need a huge army to occupy the country and impose order. There would be ongoing insurgency, some from people who support the current regime and some from people who would oppose the occupation.

The current system can`t even manage to do it in Afghanistan or Iraq. What on earth makes you think they could do it in NK, which is far worse?

All that is without the fact that Kim Jong-il actually has weapons of mass destruction and would use them in an instant, even within his own country. Invaders would get nuked and gassed.
