More Fuzzy Obama Math On MSNBC [Pic]

MSNBC, we understand when Fox News acts this retarded, but you? You"re supposed to get this stuff right...

Um... these are different questions, as in, "Do you believe Omaba is XXX", Yes/No, it could also be a "Click all that apply" and then the answers are summed based on the number of yes`s. This is done all the time in surveys.

This is not fuzzy math, or even bad methodology. They assumed that the viewers would understand that these were not either/or type of totals.

There`s obviously some crossover here, like I`m sure where he`s a socialist secret muslim.

Davymid, what "deregulation" are you talking about? I assume you mean the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 which allowed banks to sell securities and insurance among other things. A couple of interesting things about that: first, it passed the Senate 90-8, the House 362-57, and Clinton, not Bush, signed it into law. Second, the regulations it repealed never even existed in Europe.

If Bush can be faulted for one thing it is for trying to get along with the Democrats. He wanted to "set a new tone." Instead, he should have been attacking them every night on TV for blocking attempts to rein in Fannie and Freddie, who were buying up all of these worthless mortgages -- which banks were being forced to make under CRA -- and selling them to Wall Street as safe-and-sound, government-backed securities.

Rman1201, do you think that Hitler started the Holocaust on his first day in office? According to your standards, we can`t compare anyone to Hitler until AFTER they`ve murdered their 6 millionth Jew.

We need to study the early history of European fasçism if we are going go understand what led up to WWII and the Holocaust and how to avoid anything like that from ever happening again.

The sad fact is, we are doing a LOT of things similar to what the European fasçists did in the 20s and 30s. Just because Hitler isn`t FAMOUS for nationalizing industries or banning private gun ownership, that doesn`t mean he didn`t do it or that it wasn`t bad.

Before WWII, American progressives were quite enamored with Hitler and Mussolini, and they still hold many of the same ideas to this day.

BTW, that poll has been completely discredited as bullpoo.

"it was a result of the economic depression and subsequent financial housing crisis caused by the Bush administration."

The housing crash was not caused by the Bush administration. Clinton signed off on GSEs, Making them legal. The democrat controlled house rebuffed auditors that tried in vain to warn about the upcoming crisis. In 2004 auditors came before the house GSE subcommittee and voiced their concerns over the illegal book keeping of fannie and freddie. They were flatly told that there was no problem and accused as scaremongers and lairs.

Hitler isn`t famous for nationalizing banks and the auto industry. If those are the standards to make one close to Hitler, the entire Scandinavian region might as well be renamed Hitler-land.

Hitler: Murdered and tortured an entire race of people.

Obama: Insured 32 million that were previously uninsured.

I mean, really? I guess you all went to school in Texas.

Auburnjunky:

If you`re refering to the federal takeover of Fannie May and Freddie Mac, then Bush is extremely relvant to that argument. James B Lockhart III announced his decision to do so on september 7, 2008 (Obama took office January 7, 2009) and it was a result of the economic depression and subsequent financial housing crisis caused by the Bush administration. In fact, Bush was pushing for increased goverment regulation of those insitutions since 2003.

Bailouts do not imply ownership by the government and cannot be considered nationalizing. If you think they do then Bush is just as guilty because he bailed out AIG for $85 million so you would be arguing that Bush nationalized the insurance industry. Congress bailed out the airline industry during Bush`s administration as well so I guess he nationalized the commercial airlining industry. I do not think any of these examples qualify as "nationalizing", even if that is the direction they point towards.

Hitler: Nationalized German banks. Nationalized German auto industry. Nationalized German health care. Nationalized German housing. etc. etc.

Obama: Nationalized American banks (bailouts. he`s working on it.) Nationalized American auto industry. (GM down, Ford to go! Dodge/Jeep is foreign) Nationalized American health care. (Once the Insurance companies are bankrupt from this new law, who`s left?) Nationalized American Housing. (FHA taking over failed mortgages. He`s working on it.) etc etc....

It`s not Hitler. I don`t see him cooking the Jews, but like Hitler, Obama will always be remembered.

Bush is the only other president I know of who was compared to Hitler. What I am saying is I would like to get an idea of how many democrats polled from the same area had the same irrational and ignorant view that he was "doing what Hitler did." Bush is the only other president I have seen denomstrators compare to Hitler. It would give an idea of how extreme both sides might be. The surprising thing is that some people obviously do not see that MSNBC is just as bad on the left side as Fox News is on the right.

What with Chris "I felt this thrill going up my leg" Matthews and the great patriot of the people Keith Olbermann. You can take MSNBC opinion show hosts and equivalently map them to the Fox News counterparts.

But, then again, it`s only cool to rail against a biased news station if you don`t agree with it.

You all do realize this poll could allow for multiple choices right...? This is where you can vote for A, B, or C and any combination of them. When you see it on a ballot, they will be check boxes instead of circles.
This means it would be of all of the total voters, how many voted for that specific choice. This means that it will NOT add to 100%.
Here`s an example:
There are 10 voters. Any combination of the 3 choices can be voted for (A, B, or C.)
6 of the 10 vote for option A = 60%
9 of the 10 vote for option B = 90%
2 of the 10 vote for option C = 20%

This is rather basic. Adding up all the percentages in this kind of poll is completely pointless.

Since the polls in the picture are not mutually exclusive it is very easy to assume that this poll allowed for multiple choices.

Many of you other IAB`ers just made fun of yourself. Don`t pretend to be more intelligent than you are. It`s doing you all a disservice.

well obviously if you understood the first thing about statistics, you`d understand that this list is not the results of a mutually exclusive poll. just like i can think that this picture is dumb and unfunny, a republican can think that obama is more than one of these (albeit ridiculous) characteristics. it doesn`t need to add up to 100%.

This IS right, it`s just not clear.

A random republican can both think he`s a muslim and he`s a socialist.

The options are not mutually exclusive

O.o People don`t actually believe he`s the anti-christ do they? Disregarding the bad math, this is all fictional....right?

People are allowed to think more than just one of those options.
Some might even have checked all of them.

Well let`s see. The numbers are high, as a "radical left" I even think they are exaggerated. If you are lookin at it not adding up to a hundred, maybe they asked 5 yes/no questions.

Do people really not understand how a survey like this works? "Mark all that you think apply."
Thus, 24% may think he`s the Anti-Christ, and some of those same 24% may ALSO think he`s a socialist or a Muslim (or both). It`s not a very good system because you can`t atomize any of the poll answers to derive any new information, however.
