It"s that slight emphasis on words that make all the difference.

So when you say taliban i take it you mean talibatan. Otherwise its just silly.
Tali is a student, taliban is 2 students and Talibatan is a group of said students..

Silly expressions are silly.

`liohhart only problem with your comment is Osama doesn`t lead the taliban, he leads Alqaeda`

yeah, bin laden is to the U.S what lex luther was to superman and every bit as believable, not!...Alqaeda is jihad,it`s not some good vrs evil black and white war as you`re led to belive...

it`s all about securing dwindling natural
resources from other countries...it`s not just the US that`s at it?

Normally it`s not that bad to have a little ad before something, and I hate to complain but IAB has never had these type of ads in the past and now im sad.

> Main Difference Between USA And The Taliban

That`s easy: the Taliban is a military society led by a man called Osama... the US is a military society led by a man called Obama. It`s not hard to tell the difference, you just have to recognise B/S.

Actual `the Taliban` are three Afgan tribes that stretch along the Afghan-Pakistan broader region. Which are trying to expel `the foreigners`; which is the `the western nations`. Now Al-Qaeda on the other hand is the extremist religion nuts, much like the `American religious patriot fundamentalists` And American media in particular tend to interchange the terms when they are different groups with different aims. And a with common foe; NATO alliance; which if we weren`t there they`d be at each others throats. Considering that before the invasion the Taliban were going to turn other the Al-Qaeda top brass, in exchange to being left alone.

@smithno13 "In all honesty, the taliban resistance is just the same as the french resistance during world war two."

Except the Taliban aren`t garlic eating surrender monkeys.

@smithno13 "In all honesty, the taliban resistance is just the same as the french resistance during world war two. They think they are truly doing a good thing, because they are defending their own home towns."

Uhm, not even close. The French resistance was against Nazi fascism. Not for the behalf of religious bigotry.

Nidonemo; The Taliban are a Sunni group with archaic, tribal values. They try to cling to an old yet corrupted way of life because they truly believe that it is the path of righteousness. (This is a part of the reason why they despise American progress.)

I once heard tell that when the Soviet war came to Afghanistan the Americans armed the people with weapons to fend off the occupation. Many of those weapons, and their technology fell into the Taliban`s hands in later years...but I`m not entirely sure if this is true.

Nidonemo, they`re a group of Muslims who believe killing innocent people is part of their religion. Now that`s not true, and I don`t know why they think that, but they do. I`m not really an expert on the subject, but they give the whole religion a bad name.

Does anyone know what the Taliban actually is? I mean in all seriousness, does anyone -really- know what they stand for?

All I ever hear is Taliban this and Taliban that, and I know absolutely nothing about them. I would like to know -why- everyone says they`re evil with the obvious exception of "they`re blowing up US troops" as the resulting answer.

@Molehouse: I really hope you`re trolling. Taliban stand for religious dominance not logic. If you want the hold back the human race, then keep your attitude.

Looks like a comic from something like Newsweek. Sad really, the Taliban extort people into being human bombs, not coercing fellow soldiers. Extortion of family safety and also over a religious fallacy to boot! Sad, sad comic.
