Well, I`m not him, but clues include the Japanese lettering and cartoonish illustrations on the warning stickers. And the Japanese folk.

I`ve used the moving sidewalks on airports when I`m at a huge one and need to get to my gate in time. Plus i`m always carrying heavy luggage which slows me down and I always seem to run late getting to my flight because i spend to much time looking at the stores. lol Never seen a 4 step escalator though.

Haha, I was in an airport in New Jersey and they had moving sidewalks. It seemed like a waste of energy because no one was even using them.

well sometimes people ARE disabled and need better accesibility .i work with mentally challenged adults who would have a hard time with 4 stairs.but they still have a right to go into the community and do things, i guess. i have to park in the handicapped space too when i am with them.

but i agree, usually they have an elevator for handicapped people. so 4 steps for an escalator is pretty ridiculous.

My definition of Eurofag is someone from outside the UK who shops in M&S...

well.. it probably is a mall or something highly frequented by oldfolks.. so of course 4 steps can be annoying for people 80+ .. don`t always think about people being lazy for using escalators.. but for people who can`t walk steps anymore.. it`s called "accessibility" or something like that..

What is worse is the horizonal escalators that go on a flat surface.. in airports or something like that.. but you can also argue that it is for people who can`t walk long distances.. not necessarily because they are fat/lazy but they are old/disabled/whatever

Actually, we`re not the fattest, we come in ninth behind Nauru, Micronesia, Cook Islands, Tonga, Niue, Samoa, Palau, and Kuwait. Mind you most of the people in those countries don`t have many options about what to do with their time besides sit around and eat mangos.

Those are called Moving Sidewalks and I`ve seen those all over the world. If you think Universal Studios is the only place that uses those you obviously haven`t gotten out much.

Anyhow, location aside, it`s probably installed to avoid lawsuits. If you put stairs anywhere these days, someone`ll sue for tripping up, down or across them.
Or a wheelchair person will sue, but that`s a bit more understandable, eh?

About the actual pic... Still doesn`t beat the moving sidewalks at Universal Studios. An escalator that just goes straight. In theory it`s useful, because if you walk on it, you get from A to B 2x faster... But the lazy Americans eff it up by standing still on it, making it a 10 minute journey to move 30 feet.
