I, for one, SUPPORT our new Google overlords.

Seriously though, if they own the physical cabling the internet runs on, policy change might literally take an act of congress. It was never any secret that Google has been spreading out like that. Now we have TWO megalomaniac fronts of the computer based industries (apple has some pretty terrible policies regarding privacy and DRM as well.)

Also, IkeRay: What if we just don`t like being watched for the principle of it? What if said picture is misrepresented, being totally innocent in context, but devastating out of context? What if it was taken without my knowledge when I was in my own home seemingly alone? What if I just like my privacy for the principle of it?

There will eventually be a monopoly lawsuit against Google one day.

Just like the industrial age of the late 1800s, we have a burst of technologies finally coming to fruition as an entirely new way of living. There are exposes and social action against them too.

When the poo hits the fan in a new way in the future, we will recognize that Google is too big. After all, with capitalism, competition is key.

the quote is exactly how I feel, "if you have something that you don`t want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn`t be doing it in the first place", something our society needs to learn from.

its like people who complain because a picture of them drinking/smoking/having sex/camwhoring/etc gets released on the internet, don`t do it if you`re ashamed if someone sees it.

also, that final image would be awesome on a T-Shirt, I`d sport it, but remove the "lawsuit" stuff

That`s retarded. It seems to me that all they`re trying to do is make the internet that thing that we see in sci-fi movies. The worlds biggest digital library? That would be awesome, putting all the information I would ever need right at my fingertips. If you don`t want people seeing personal information, then don`t put it on the internet. No one is forcing to post crap on those social networks. Honestly I think they are a really good company and they`re just trying to make a difference in the world.

What bollocks. Google Earth is not some evil plot so google has complete knowledge of where we all are. They did not open up google health so they could gather details about our bodies. This just sounds paranoid imo. Google is still 10x better than Microsoft, EA games, Apple or Virgin when it comes to moral choices.

And don`t even get me started on how good it is compared to Activision *shudders*

I trust Google a lot more than I would trust a lot of other companies. They are probably one of the best companies to work for in terms of how they treat their employees. As well, they are committed to green technology in a big way. Whereas most companies just talk about it, Google does it. Check it out: Tour of Google

Things got potentially terrifying at 1:00.

Google is amazing, but if any one company is going to become the evil super corporation read about in fiction, it is them. Lol.

At least their collection of data about people, their interests, and their actions is accompanied with really awesome tools and services (even if that`s how they`re getting the info). It`s not PURELY exploitation, it`s at least a bit more mutual.

But I am not worried. People will eventually all flock to the best service, no matter what that service is. If that service invades your privacy, it can`t be the best service.
