How is it clever for a species of bird to do exactly what they`ve evolved to do?

This is very common, as everyone else has said. There are also tarantulas that live in cacti.

Show me a bald eagle living in a palm tree and I`ll be impressed. Or a hummingbird killing an antelope...

That`s a cactus wren, Arizona`s state bird! It nests in cacti, sometimes in a hole in a saguaro, sometimes where its nest will be protected by the prickly cactus spines of a cholla or leaves of a yucca.

And they make the hole themselves. They have evolved to be protected from the spines of the cactus.

i live in arizona, the only place these cactus grow. those bird holes are actually really common. the part that the bird picks away gets "scabbed" and is really strong.
