"I have 85 Tivos and 15 cars and 5 billion dollars in the bank look at meee I loove technology." Yeah? What happened to people living a life of poverty like Jesus did? Giving to people so they can eat instead of giving to the church so their pastor can have his face plastered on more billboards? Idiot. Hypocrite. Most of all, brainwashed. I actually kind of feel sorry for this guy. Joel Olsteen has a 50,000 seat arena for his congregation. 50,000! Do you know how many people would be off the streets if they turned that pile of crap into a 50,000 bed homeless shelter? THINK, people.

My comically-censored rant aside, this guy remains a terrorist. He is using fear to control the minds of others. Fear of my religion (Which is fear that is totally unjustified) and fear of that movie. It`s sickening.

I hate this guy, seriuosly, I want to cause him grievous bodily harm. ARG, Paganism has NOTHING to do with Satan, you ignorant drat! Stop with the bullpoo about pagans worshiping the devil! I worship Thor, I worship Odin. I don`t worship any PART of YOUR religion. YOU made up Satan, so why would people of another faith have ANYTHING to do with it?! You are so full of yourselves, you are too blinded by your own faith to see that every part of it is bullpoo. >.< RAGE. Get the drat off of my screen, non-nice individual!

And since I use to be a die-hard Christian.... I can say.... this guy is being blinded!

I mean... Christians DO believe God is in everything! IDIOT! What, you think God made the earth, all these creatures and living things but chose that humans are the only things he cares about? When I was Christian, I believed the earth was sacred... I believed God was in everything... I believed we are all creations of God.

I was a Christian when i saw that movie...it was during a time where i was questioning religion and stuff.... I was analyzing what exactly it is i believe.... after i saw Avatar, I thought "OMG! YES! That makes so much sense! All energy is only borrowed, and we eventually need to give it back to the universe to make something else!... THATS what the afterlife must be! It makes WAY more sense to me than a heaven..."

And this was the time in which i was starting to break away from what ive been TOLD is real and try to think for myself completely...

now, I dont really have a clear idea of what i believe...but i dont think it should be clear... how would anyone have a clear idea of what cant be known?

So waaaay back when paganism was large ad in charge and beating down the christians. Now the christians are in charge and beating down the pagans. There, friends, is your love and acceptance from christ. I love and accept you as long as you do what I say, because I am always right.

Religions of all kinds have been pissing me off since I was old enough to read. But christianity seems to be the worst for it because the followers don`t even practice what the follow. Way to go! Bad religion is bad.

53590: I meant that you can relate something entirely innocent to something entirely evil if you put reasons behind it. They don`t have to be good reasons or even true ones, you just need your audience to believe you.

One strategy is to get someone very afraid of something, in this instance: Zealots afraid of Satan. Then find something that you don`t want them to follow or enjoy, say a child`s book.

You can`t just say it`s evil right off the bat, you have to build them up to it, show instances where it may have been evil. Like Harry Potter teaches witchcraft. It doesn`t, it simply has the characters using magic, which is similar to witchcraft, but if your audience already believes you as it is, you can skip over minor details that discredit your entire argument and use flash fear to your advantage.

This is why it`s so important to sort out facts and evidence and keeping a solid calm mind when you expose yourself to new information.

that was sickening. I`m christian and i am completely astounded that he would say "Avatar is the most demonic movie I`ve ever seen." I guess people just see things that they want to see. He could have interpreted things from the movie that supported christian beliefs also, but he couldn`t wrap his brain around that. Everything is "worldly" and "of the devil." ugh, that made my blood boil.

"How the hell this guy goes off on it being Satanic is just beyond me... "

You can turn anything into anything if you twist the right aspects of it.

Nidonemo, I totally agree with you. The only thing is, How do we know you and everyone else is not just twisting these aspects.

I`m not trying to start a debate, I just think in order for people to be truly critical they need to consider all possibilities. Instead of assuming what the other side says is wrong.

I don`t know if that`s where your coming from. though, I do think it`s a problem with people.

He`s looking too much in to the movie. Doesn`t even sound like he watched the whole movie. "Human beings are to connect literally with trees and animals and beasts and birds." I don`t remember human beings being able to do that in the movie. Oh yeah, they can`t. I`m pretty sure the point of this wasn`t to seduce people in to worshiping Satan. I think they just did it as part of a sort of cool, futuristic cowboys vs. Indians kind of thing with a love story attached like a modern day Disney`s Pocahontas. Sorry, religious preacher guy, you`re ranting about the wrong things.

I am amused that he alludes pagans as being against technology. Meanwhile many pagans use computers to write their Book of Shadows (if they so have one), use the internet to find other pagans, purchase supplies via internet, and. I, myself, am a technological junkie. I know small time indy movie makers. I own a computer, smartphone, blog, tweet, and facebook like mad. So where is it that pagans don`t like advancement or technology?

BTW, isn`t there something that Jesus said about excessiveness? I can`t remember the biblical quote off the top of my head but as my Christian hubby and several Christian friends would say, everything in moderation. 3 TiVo`s *might* be a bit excessive.

This video brings back memories from 2001. Just before the first Harry Potter movie was about to be released, my church`s pastor had a sermon fully devoted to showing that Harry Potter was paganistic, satanic nonsense meant to pull children away from God. Yeah, fundy Christian asshats always seem so scared when something more interesting than their own religion crops up. They don`t like competition! All competition is the devil I tell ya!

Christian holidays were timed with pagan holidays (ie Feast of the Son of Isis- winter solstice - Yule - Mithras - Christmas) to ease the switch. "You can still celebrate the solstice. We`re just gonna call it Christmas."

You have to remember AGit, for people like this paganism and satanism are one in the same thing. If you`re not for God, you`re with Satan. There is no realization that many people choose neither, and I love how he talks about not being a consumer, then stands in front of people with nice clothes and tells them about his theater and TiVo systems. I`m not going to go back into the God argument, I`ve already stated my position on that several times; but radical Christians just push a button with me, the hypocrisy and blindness that they subject themselves to exceeds even some of that of the radical Muslims. It is story about a fictional world that has, obviously, a fictional god/religion... because it`s FICTION! Christians need to stop being so afraid that every fiction story must be trying to convert our children into wiccians and start worshiping the earth. THEY`RE JUST STORIES!

Though I`m with most of you, I`ll have to correct some things:
1. Easter is a genuine christian holy day. The exact date is given in the bible. Jesus was crucified the day before peshwa and resurected 3 days later.
2. The_Maddog: "No christian ever made a good argument for anything his or her faith has to offer...ever!" If that where so, christianity wouldn`t have risen to be the #1 religion on earth. For simple minded people christianity offers hope. For the mighty it offers control over people.

Besides, Avatar was just a re-telling of the story of Pocahontas anyways.

You know, I could twist this around and make it seem like Avatar was FOR religion.

For example, the good guys spend most of the film fighting for the natives to have the right to their religion and tradition and sacred places. Also, the female scientist there says again and again that there is scientific proof for everything they believe in, enforcing an idea that religion and science can co-exist.

Just goes to show you can prove anything from nothing if you read between the lines.

If i wasn`t an anti-theist, i`d be a pagan. It just makes more sense to me than any monotheistic religion. It`s about honoring nature and recognizing your place in it as both a tool and a guardian. It`s generally more openminded and welcoming, more about balance, not eternal punishment or reward. It`s about assigning an archetypal animus to things in nature in order to recognize yourself in it and vice versa. To assign all that responsibility to ONE deity not only shows a lack of imagination and wonder, it`s dangerous. We wouldn`t trust one man with all the power of the government, but we`re going to assign all the power and responsibility over EVERYTHING to one guy? Dangerous and lazy. No creativity there.
But yeah, almost everything about modern Christianity is stolen from older pagan religions anyway. Not only the holidays and traditions, but most aspects of the story about Christ`s life anyway.

As a Christian I think the problem comes if you are looking to Hollywood productions to base your spirituality on. If you view the movie as what it is, a few hours of entertainment, then there is no problem. However, if you find it to be a few hours of Life lessons, then there is a problem. Just like some up in arms over Harry Potter. If you do not have the ability to explain fantasy magic to your children and show them the difference between this and the Occult, then by all means, keep them away from it. But for those of us who can, well don`t expect us to follow up on the boycott. :)
