According to FEMA, structural elements were exposed to high temperatures for a sufficient period of time to reduce their strength to the point of collapse; nevertheless, it has since been determined that the fires burned out in 20 minutes at any given location as they moved from point to point.
Loss of structural integrity was likely a result of weakening caused by fires on the 5th to 7th floors. The specifics of the fires in WTC 7 and how they caused the building to collapse remain unknown at this time. Although the total diesel fuel on the premises contained massive potential energy, the best hypothesis has only a low probability of occurrence. Further research, investigation, and analyses are needed to resolve this issue. [Ch. 5, p. 31.]

Btw, there are MANY, unexplained things that happen that day, eye witness reports about explosions, fire-fighters reporting bombs in the lobby, lobby destroyed BEFORE the buildings came down, NORAD not intercepting hijacked air planes in central New York. The starting point though is this... Ok, so 4 planes hijacked by fundamentalist Islamic`s, crash, 2 into the WTC`s, one into the Pentagon and one over Shanksville. Ok, fine, the fires from the jet fuel causes fires so hot that they cause the steel frame to become weak and then destroy from the top down. Perfectly down, in 10 seconds free-fall, without causing more damage, they should have fallen over, twisted and buckled.Providing that the fires could have reached 2500 degrees and knocked off all the fire isolation and the sprinkler system. They did this as a sign to America to change its way`s, but instead it caused hatred, for Isamists, and allowed their country to be attacked.. so that YOU could be free, so that your liberty`s rema

Whoa, people are close minded, seriously watch Adam Curtis, or just wikipedia him, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Curtis
he explains with INTERVIEWS and FACTS, about how, Al Qaeda was a failing organisation, before September 11th, and that weapons of mass destruction such as a "dirty bomb" are mere fantasy. Charlie Brooker anyone?, he`s on Newswipe. Seriously someone back me up. Again, watch some political documentary`s, and listen to experts, the news has agendas, and so do politicians, most event`s do not only benefit 1 person, September 11th, people made Billions from it. If you don`t even listen to both sides of the argument, then how can you make an informed decision. WTC 7 is the first steel building in history to come down due to fires, fires that melted so hot, that it destroyed the steel beams, and caused it to collapse into its own footprint, other buildings received worse damage

"Remember, if you don`t trust the messenger, you can`t trust the message."

Actually, that`s a rather idiotic piece of philosophy. Just because you don`t trust someone, doesn`t mean that every word out of their mouth is a lie. There is no benefit to lying all the time because it is harder to keep up a web of lies than it is to tell the truth when it doesn`t matter either way.

Where is the benefit for the government to kill thousands of its people? The ultimate reason for going to war wasn`t even directly connected with 9/11. We went to war to get rid of a genocidal dictator. There is no logical reason to believe that the government would kill those people, therefore there is no reason to believe that they are lying about not having done it.

"No what I`m saying is if you look at Hitler`s social and economic policies, he was a liberal."

When dealing with politics, social and economic beliefs are completely secondary to his political beliefs. Fascism is in the complete opposite direction.

Side note to all the official government story supporters, ever heard of a "false-flag attack"?

While I do not claim to know if the government was behind it or not, I definitely don`t believe the official story. Remember, if you don`t trust the messenger, you can`t trust the message.

No what I`m saying is if you look at Hitler`s social and economic policies, he was a liberal. When a person writing a book about him discovers he had a lot of the same political beliefs they do, they naturally going to down play those similarities. No conspiracy, just human nature.

"They are going to separate themselves as much as possible."

Because obviously a minor political bias in a given profession is going to override all sense of honesty and cause these writers to deliberately claim outright lies in their writings.

Right.

Most textbook writers are also Christian, but I don`t see any obvious proselytizing in my history books.

Most textbook writers are also male, but I don`t see blatant anti-feminism and sexism in my books either.

You are assuming that because of a rather minor political skew in the demographic of this profession that all their work will be Liberally skewed, that nobody has the guts to report the TRUTH rather than their `agenda`, and that there`s no proofreading or editing.

Got any spare tinfoil hats?

Yes Goalie I have taken a Poly Sci class. I was lucky enough to be taught by an instructor who wasn`t just a mouthpiece for the political left. Hitler WAS a Scoialist. He did everything he could to remove any sign of capitalism or individual rights and responsibilities in Germany. Pull your head out of your ass and realize liberals write most text books (most textbooks are written by Poly Sci Majors and most Poly Sci Majors are liberal) so they are not going to group themselves with Hitler. They are going to separate themselves as much as possible.

The people who believe the 9/11 conspiracy theory have absolutely no proof. Even beyond examination of the competence of the government, is there any proof other than vague feelings of distrust for the government? Our government doesn`t reveal all of it`s secrets to its citizens, but there is no way in hell they could get away with something so major and so publicized. If you want to talk about what the government did to prop up Bin Laden`s terrorism, that`s one thing, but the government was not directly involved in the 9/11 attacks.

Everyone knows that the all-powerful government is competent enough to plan, stage, and execute perfectly an enormous conspiracy involving thousands of people and keep them all quiet in the face of the terrible consequences.

We are, of course, talking about the same government incapable of protecting a single Southern town from the ocean, cover up a sex scandal, or even agree with itself long enough for the Democrats and Republicans to stop trying to kill each other.

Come on.

now, I usually tell people fighting to shut up. But something like the 9-11 incidents is serious to know the truth about.

However, rambling on about how the structure collapsed does not help your cause (for or against). It is not proof, legally speaking.

HILTER HATED SOCIALISTS AND COMMUNISTS, you dumbass.

And BTW, to anyone who is educated or doesn`t listen to Rush Limbaugh, LIBERALISM AS A POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY MEANS A RESPECT FOR LIBERTY AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. In the spectrum of political philosophy, BOTH REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS ARE "LIBERAL.""

The word has been so widely misconstrued by dumbf*cks on the right that they seem to equate it with communism, when IN FACT, Liberalism as a political philosophy is a belief in constitutional government, free elections, free trade, and freedom of (or from) religion.

Man, education is FAILING in America...

"All of you idiots who call Republicans Nazi`s are idiots. Nazi is short for National Socialist. Socialist, as in far left wing liberal. Hitler was a democrat dumbasses."

HAHAHAHAHA.

Have you ever taken a political science class in your entire life? Do you understand the difference between Fascism and Socialism? Do you understand that Hitler was a Fascist? And Fascism is to to the "right" on the political spectrum?

Do you understand that the first term in "National Socialist" refers to NATIONALISM? Do you understand that Nationalism is also on the "right" side of the political spectrum? Do you understand that of the two major political parties in the United States, Republicans are more likely to exhibit nationalist tendencies than Democrats?

This is all rhetorical, because the fact that you thought the term "Socialist" in "National Socialism" referred to actual socialism shows how ignorant you are. HITLER HATED

That`s what I`ve been saying AnImbroglio. Besides, if our government had been sinister enough to kill thousands of its own citizens why didn`t we just plant WMDs in Iraq instead of looking like complete tools in front of the rest of the world and undermine our reason for being there in the first place? I don`t think it`s likely that the government has gotten better at conspiracy 101 since Watergate and Iran-Contra not to mention the Pentagon Papers especially since the media loves nothing more than a juicy scandal at the government`s expense.

Just to settle a few things here, ladies and gents... I`m an air traffic controller. So to all the conspiracy theorists out there, allow me to shed a bit of light. There WAS a plane that hit the pentagon. No bombs involved, I`m afraid. Of course, I don`t know 100% who was behind it, but it wasn`t our government. Ask yourself what our government had to gain. Almost everyone would say it would be to have a reason to go to war over oil. My point on that is, we hardly needed that as a reason. In fact, one could argue, we didn`t even use that as a reason to go to war with Iraq to begin with. There are way too many people publicly bashing our government for this to be a tyranny. Yes, they`re corrupt, and yes, they do bad things. But this is a stretch, even for the paranoid.

People who believe in such garbage are just sad.

You say to watch those 3 "documentaries"..well, I say, if the government wanted to hide something, why are those people still alive? Seriously?

How many people died during those attacks? 2-3k or so? Whats 50 or so more (50 is a guess on the people who worked on the movies.)

Another thing I hear alot; Bush did it! Bush did it! Well, it would take alot of planning and evil genius to pull such an attack off wouldn`t it?

So which is it? Bush the Evil Genius, or Bush the Idiot..you cant have it both ways people....

I totally agree with your point that everyone that speaks of a conspiracy is automatically considered crazy. This is the beauty of any conspiracy, you can pretty much get away with anything because the government and media have colluded into portraying every popular conspiracy theory as nuts and do the best to `debunk` it. They also never allow a reputable scientists or theorists to speak out on television shows or debates about it, and instead pick people that aren`t well spoken and have lacking credentials. We are all taught from a young age to listen to authority and there is no bigger authority than the national government.

The true conspiracy is the believe that the government is flawless, pure and that they have never lied to anyone, or murdered, or that no-one profited by 9/11 and that fire-fighters, construction experts and anyone with half a brain are wrong. (building 7 is the only proof I need) watch Adam Curtis, loose change and Zeitgeist, in that order.

I pose this question to you IABers, why does every theory that people propose about what they think happened that day automatically become a loon? If he is going to offer cookies, I will lend him my ear, and and I am sure we would have a great time talking about why there was NO PLANE that hit the pentagon.
