If you`re going to correct someone on their grammar or spelling, I suggest that yours should also be mistake-free. In this case, you should at least use `someone` and "it`s."
TECHNICALLY, the correct term is octopuses. But yes, all are accepted.
Also, as a zoology major who wants to focus in marine invertebrate zoology, this just tickles my fancy :D
Actually, at the end of the article, TheOatmeal says"Note: In order to thwart a bunch of emails, I`d like to point out that octopuses, octopi, and octopodes are all acceptable ways to pluralize octopus."
Also, We don`t need an Atomfilm-a-day thing either. I would gladly go a month without and not miss it.
And I thought the article was worthless, but makes for a good conversation piece.
Failure. If you wnat to be really anal about it, out of Octopi, Octopuses and Octopodes, only the former is etymologically incorrect. But either octopi or octopuses are both entirely correct forms in english.
