BTW, SmilinSam...it`s "a lot", not "alot".
Also, formaldehyde is another naturally occurring byproduct of organic decomposition. That steak you just charred on your grill? It probably has more formaldehyde than a cigarette does.
And yeah, potheads are fking self centred here, all the posts are "Make weed legal". How about find a good hiding spot and shut up? Several of the potheads i know complain about it being illegal. yet they still do it. I don`t care if you do it, either keep your mouth on your apple juice container bong or keep it shut.
And if we do make it legal, you won`t have anything to talk about, or you`ll start complaining about something else.
So no, no legalised pot for joo bebbes.
Are you insinuating that the smoke her mother inhaled affected her lungs or that the chemicals in the smoke did? That statement seems dangerously close to horrible self-diagnosis.
Smoking is so bad for you... When I quit, it helped to look at all the positive reasons to quit, how my body would get better after quitting.. I went and looked at the effects of quitting smoking regularly. It helped a lot. XD
BTW only 2 posts? Did my post encourage you to create an account? ;)
Kids, don`t listen to them. Smoking makes you look cool. Fact. Look at Marlon Brando, James Dean, Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra. Would they have been cool without their cigarettes?
Umm...nature? Cyanide naturally occurs in most organic products...particularly when you incinerate said organic products. You know apples contain cyanide, right?
Way to ruin a good point with a completely ludacris example. That`s like equating the level of power in a battery to lightning. Not to Catalytic Converters, which were created and are now required to eliminate things like Carbon Monoxide from car exhaust, or that the natural gas the western world uses to fuel cars is free of carbon monoxide.
You watch entirely too many movies.
1 in 5 people are good are pointing out spelling mistakes. Don`t quite your day job.
Also alot of people here crying about weed. Not even gonna start. Just saying that weed icon is the most identified symbol for illegal drugs, can`t use syringe for heroin as that`s a medical symbol. does LSD and Xtasy have symbols?
Smoking is bad and it WILL kill you. But there are many other causes that might strike you down first.
Your brain relies on nicotine. The thought of giving it up makes you shutter and aggressive. Thus non-smokers should never encourage a smoker to give up. I used to have a few durries here and there when i went out clubbing, waking up with a mouth tasting like ash wasn`t pleasent (The cigarette taste was bad too). Pot wasn`t all that fantastic either.
2nd hand smoke is bad, dont believe me? stick ur friggen head at the end of a car exhaust for a few hours. Same god damn gases are coming out. Carbon Monoxide (And Trioxide??? >.<)
I quit smoking for health reasons (i was struggling for breath whilst doing XC on my bike); but i also used the extortionate price of cigarettes in England as a motivator towards kicking the habit. It was £4.30 for a pack of my brand (Benson and Hedges Gold) when i stopped. It`s now £5.67.
One day i was feeling a bit miserable about my shortness of breath. I then sat down and worked out that by smoking a pack a day, i was spending over £100 a month on cigarettes. So i just stopped, no patches or gum for me, all i had was willpower. I was a bit tetchy for a couple of weeks but that`s all.
POT HAS NEVER KILLED ANYONE
Try 4 out of 6 times.
For the chemical compounds: Most of those are additives to cigarettes themselves.
hmm this will hopefully get me to quit for real this time, i`d hate to take off that much of me life by smokin
I see wut you did thar
Probably the same people who put happiness into their body.
I thank you for your congratulations in advance.
"But that`s not hard evidence!" Relax, it`s just to get you going, if you want to know the truth, you have to try a little harder ;-). So how the hell do we know `tabacco` is killin` them folks? Well, let`s see: trans fats in everything on the store shelf, pollutants pumped out of almost every car on the road, frequencies bounced around by so many electroni
I would like to see a brave, no B-S, non-politically correct version of what obesity does, it is a larger epidemic than smoking.
And for those of those who have forgotten, it is NOT ok to be fat, you can take control of your body through diet and exercise, starting today is a good plan."
blow it out your ass you opinionated prick
You can not defend smoking give it up, we love you but you are sounding stupid.
And for those of those who have forgotten, it is NOT ok to be fat, you can take control of your body through diet and exercise, starting today is a good plan.
Interesting side-note here. In Amsterdam where I lived for 7 years or so, it`s legal to smoke pot in licensed "Coffee-Shops". But recently they made it illegal to smoke tobacco in any public space. However, that law doesn`t extend to weed. So now it`s legal to smoke in coffee shops, as long as you`re smoking straight-up, 100% marijuana. Dude, if you cut that joint with 5% tobacco, you`re breaking the law...
oh ya i just smoke pot. legalize it
Oh god I think I saw one of those, it was recommended by doctors too! Anyone see "The Day the Earth Stood Still"? Scene in there with like 3 doctors lighting up IN the office.
"Smoking is like religion, People know its f`n stupid but they`re gonna do it anyways, and once you start it takes a lot to stop."
Back years ago, the commercials would advertise smoking as "it will make you feel better".
I watched her go down hill fast this last year. I carried her to her 3 to 4 doctors visits weekly, I carried her portable oxygen tank for her, gave her breathing treatments, picked up her precriptons, this list could go on and on.
The thing is, you don`t think anything is wrong with you, usually if you`re doing something harmful to your body, you will know it, but with this stuff, it can sneak up on you. She quit for years before she found out she was sick.
Think about suffocating, because that is exactly what happens, but it`s slow. It doesn`t happen fast. You get the feeling you can`t breathe, that scares you so you`re heart beats faster, that makes it even more hard to breathe. It goes on like that for months or years depending on what level of disease you get.
A teenager is sitting on a park bench, minding his own business, smoking a cigarette. An elderly gent walks by, and stops and says to the kid, "Now now sonny, don`t you know that smoking is very bad for your health and the health of those around you? You should stop that disgusting habit immediately!"
The kid looks around, making sure that his smoke isn`t bothering anybody. "Well", he says, "my grandfather lived to be 88 years old".
"Really?" Asks the old-timer. "I suppose your point is that your grandfather smoked all his life?"
"No", says the kid, looking the elderly man dead in the eye. "He just had the good sense to mind his own f*cking business."
I lol`d, anyways.
Brown lung is bad enough XD
Welllllllll...if you wanna get TECHNICAL... ( e.e)>
It`s just an easily recognisable symbol for drugs. Not many people die from Uzis either. Relax.
Just because you want inhale toxin into your body doesn`t mean the rest of us need to ingest your second hand smoke within an arms length.
also, i don`t get why people start smoking. in my opinion, any reason to start smoking will always be heavily outweighed by reasons to not smoke. having said that though, it`s your choice if you want to smoke or not. people who get militant about anti-smoking and do the whole fake cough thing kind of annoy me
ok? I`m as little of a fan of smoking cigarettes as the next guy, but these statistics, and spellings thereof, reek!
No - for a start, it`s 1 in 5 people in the world that smoke, and 1 in 5 deaths in the US that result from smoking. So they have a different base population entirely (well, the former statistic encompasses the US). Even if the two numbers were representative of the same base population, 1 in 5 smokers and 1 in 5 deaths caused by smoking are not the same thing. Taking the US as an example:
1 in 5 are smokers = 60 million people1 in 5 deaths due to smoking = 443,000 people (annually)
I don`t call myself a "smoker," though I do enjoy the occasional cigar.
Yeah, I`ve been dubious ever since that infographic on semen that talked about West African Jaguars (which don`t exist). I`ll take these statistics with a pinch of salt. Mixed with nicotine.
Granted it`s probably like 22% of people smoke and 19% of deaths are from smoking, and they just rounded both to 1 in 5... but still, it`s fishy.
this is coming from a non-smoker
Half the posts on here I`d be justified in commenting merely with "people are stupid".
1. The AUSTRALIAN govt has spent more on tobacco research and has been trying to get people to quit for longer than almost any other country in the world.2. "Copyright © Quit Victoria, 1995" - Quit Victoria is the state of Victoria`s government department for promoting the Quit program.3. I didn`t say it was worth smoking, I just said there are SOME health benefits... which are widely acknowledged by numerous studies.
Dam skippy. *lights a marlborro* (BTW, I live in the hills of Kentucky.)
DUDE, YES. it should be a law that if you smoke tobacco, you should do it out of a pipe. and with a monocle. and a fake white mustache.
"However, like getting drunk, the danger comes not from the substance itself, but the effects it has on your reflexes and judgment."He specifically said overdose, as in purely from the effects of the drug, not what it may or may not make you do. everybody knows you can do stupid poo that`ll kill you whether or not you`re drunk, stoned, or sober.
~~please no BS about saying that its lethality hasn`t been proven, that`s only because the study would be considered unethical and we all know it`s true.
Yes you can, this is a common myth. You can overdose on WATER if you drink enough of it. What you mean is `its nearly impossible to overdose on weed`, which is true, because it has such a high LD50. However, like getting drunk, the danger comes not from the substance itself, but the effects it has on your reflexes and judgment. There are plenty of MJ-attributed deaths on the road each year.
But you won`t see that info splashed around the place either, that would make ciggies look possibly ok.
Here`s some perspective for you:
If you live in any modern city with a population above 45,000, you ARE a pack-a-day smoker from the industrial and exhaust fumes anyway. Or to put it another way, a smoker living in the mountains and smoking a pack a day, is actually far healthier than a non-smoker in the city.
What would you do?
Major grats. I`m a new years quitter myself.
Dang, now I`m more curious as to what smoking feels like now.
No, pot doesn`t "f*ck up your brain", the worst it`ll do is increase your stress level if you smoke it a lot and suddenly quit. And this is why it`s illegal: http://civilliberty.about.com/od/drugpol...
Don`t drating start.
and also, smoking is a waste of time. I mean, im not a smoker or anything, but theres not point! You don`t get high off it or anything, and we all know what they put in them, so why bother with it?
That said, I don`t smoke and don`t care to, but I do appreciate good science.
The bottle they used isn`t the only bottle alcohol comes in and the gun they used isn`t the only gun in the world.
"LEGALIZE IT. Tax that sh-t and use it to pay for... hmm... oh... idk HEALTH CARE. It`s already the #1 cash crop in the US." - DeSheaaaaaa
I agree with you on that one. I never understood why Marijuana is illegal yet alcohol and tobacco kill more people every day than Marijuana ever has.
But we shouldn`t stop at legalizing Marijuana, we should continue to legalize every other sort and have it regulated by the federal government.
We don`t know what they cut the cocaine with and the strength isn`t constant. If we regulate the production/distribution of all drugs than we can help prevent overdoses and unwanted side effects.
I am not at all a drug user, in fact I am quite stra
Didn`t see your post when I wrote mine. I agree 100%!
but were are all the tasty tars and carcinogens?
This infographic just illustrates why there is no reason that pot should be illegal. Why are cigarettes legal while they kill thousands of people every year. ><
LEGALIZE IT. Tax that sh-t and use it to pay for... hmm... oh... idk HEALTH CARE. It`s already the #1 cash crop in the US.
