I just pressed two keys (which both beeped as I pressed them) and now I`m looking at a rotating fully 3D texture-rendered blueprint of IAB HQ. Now I`m zooming in to the circuit diagram of the third wall switch and (somehow) remotely physically moving a wire from one terminal to the other in it. Now even though no-one ever programmed it into the 3D file, the entire 3D building is catching flames on my screen...

Gotta love them movie computers eh?

There are programs like this. They obviously don`t work as well, but they can definitely make a difference. Stuff like taking two different color pixels, and putting an in between color pixel between the two, but on a larger scale.

These shows are the graphic designer`s biggest nightmare. Client: "I`ve only got a 72 dpi version of the photo, but you can enhance it, right? They do it on CSI all the time!"

"I find it stunning that people believe that you can take a blurry photograph, run it through "enhancement software" and get out a crystal clear picture seconds later. I`m thinking of a word, it starts with F and ends in uck. "Enhancement software" is at some point guessing about the missing information; it cannot create information that wasn`t recorded in the photo in the first place.

BTW, my word is Firetruck. "

I don`t think these TV programs think that this can be done in real life. TV programs and films always push the boundaries of what can be done with technology at that current point in time and some time in the future, it usually becomes a reality. Take touchscreens for example, in the past they were total fiction, but appeared in tv and films all the time

alikabul: "It always annoys me that they never seem to use a computer mouse in ANY show. Just a lot of random pressing of buttons on the keyboard. Now why would you need to write something to zoom in?"

@alikabul

Obviously it`s a command mode macro for emacs, duh! That`s why a Unix CLI rocks.

Because every camera in existence has the hidden ability to shoot in 160mp, but they just don`t want to admit it.
I`ve always thought this was retarded

All of that was bullsh*t, except the star trek bits, since they may actually take ultra high resolution pictures, whenever they take a picture.
