"Yeah, but with pirated movies you get crappy quality and you have to pause every 5 minutes for the damn thing to load."

Dude, seriously stop streaming and learn to download movies completely and then watch them. There is no buffering, and no stopping every five minutes. And the quality is just as good as DVDs if the rip was done well, which you can find a good rip 99.9% of the time.

Also, don`t download TS, CAM, SCREENER, etc, copies if you care about quality so much. Wait for the DVDrip, 720p rip, or 1080p rip releases.

Screener usually isn`t bad at all though...but yeah, quality isn`t bad if you know what you`re doing. But I still buy TV Shows on DVD and some movies...depends on if I liked them or not and if I want them on Blu-ray for the higher quality...

Plenty of dvd`s have the menu, chapter, and fast forward disabled during the warnings and previews/commercials. It sucks.

If you press the Main Menu button at the "coming soon" screen you jump straight to the menu.

Not really a problem. And any movie not from USA doesn`t have any FBI-warning.

@dorkette - pirating movies /music and other media is actually massively crippling the entire industry. And because so little profit is made they take less risks, and therefore use something like 7 different movie templates, for fear that people wont see something too out of the box, explaining how pooty american cinema is becoming

I`m one of the guys that buys the stuff, so I totally get what this guy is ona about, he`s nailed it. As the paying customer I`m the on who has it rammed down my throat how much I shouldnt be pirating the movie.

not about time saving, it`s about all the advertisement packed onto media you paid for already."

That, and I think it`s referring to the time difference from when you sit down to watch the movie, to when the movie starts, regardless of how long it took to get it. You could buy a dvd and not watch it for a couple of days due to lack of time, just as you could leave a download going all day/night and watch it the next.

But yeh there will always be people who would rather buy than download, i don`t think it`s totally ruining the industry. I still buy if the special features are worth it/I like it enough to want to.

You`re streaming the video from a mediocre site, probably in China (because of the very slow download rate that`s causing the frequent buffering).

Your comments don`t apply to pirated stuff in general. If they did, it would be much less common.

20 minutes of downloading is longer than it takes to get to the movie on a DVD. To rip it and take the menus/previews/etc off forever? 10 minutes more.

The infographic`s point is stupid. Steal if you want, but trying to use "time saving" as a reason is asinine.
how long does it take to download the movie? You adding that in to your infographic?
If you`ve got a good internet connection... 20 minutes. But even if your connection sucks and it takes all day, its time not spent by you, unlike driving to the video store and buying it.
How about the fact that you can backup the DVD to your HD and remove all the menus/trailers/etc?
... Which would take additional time to do.

Ripped dvds aren`t necessarily bad quality. By getting a HD rip and reducing the resolution to the maximum a dvd permits you can get a brilliant quality film. And who the hell uses torrents anyway? SLLLLOOOOOOOW! When you can download a film, convert it to vob`s etc and burn it to a disk in 30 minutes, what argument is there for buying legit dvds? Don`t give me all that moral BS -

"I am a thief. I steal because I want the stuff without paying for it. I have no actual justification besides that."

Don`t try to dress it up in some sort of moral BS. Own it.

Not to mention, how long does it take to download the movie? You adding that in to your infographic?

How about the fact that you can backup the DVD to your HD and remove all the menus/trailers/etc?

Seriously, just admit it to yourself and others: "I am a thief. I steal because I want the stuff without paying for it. I have no actual justification besides that."

Honest? How do you mean, "honest"? I don`t lie about downloading films from the internet - am I not honest?

Just because the law states that it`s the "right thing to do" doesn`t mean that it is. In this case, "right" means "profitable for us".

Or honest people.

I pay for digital media. I don`t buy DVDs though, because damned if I`m going to pay for them to annoy me. I`ll rent one. Then I`ll rip it, watch the film without the annoyances and delete the rip afterwards.

You would have thought that media sellers would realise that it`s a very bad idea to make their product markedly inferior to ripoffs and do so in a way apparently calculated to annoy paying customers. No wonder piracy is endemic.

I`ve been barking up this tree for years. You want me to pay, make it more worth it and easier than downloading the movie. It takes me at most 3 minutes to download a full length movie.

as opposed to a dvd/BR rip... oh wait the quality is the same.

"They forgot the part where you have to wait several hours to download/burn the dvd/blu ray disc. It`s not as easy as hitting enter unless you want to just stream a movie off the web."

Well if you downloaded it from a nzb, you could get it in under 15 min. Furthermore, if you have your pc hooked up to your home theater you could watch it instantly without burning it to anything.

I`m not advocating piracy here but it`s funny to read these arguments.

Norris, no need to conceal the "secret, unknown" site. They are called TORRENTS. You can get them from any site that supports your torrent downloader. The best torrent sites out there are demonoid, and TPB.

its your own fault if what you download are crappily downloaded! :O The quality depends solely on how much time you wish to spend downloading the movie :) and even in top dvd quality its faster to download it and see it than to go to the shop and buy it/ordering it online.

fizok: removing the menus like that is probably considered circumventing, therefore illegal- between paying to be a criminal or being a criminal for free, I`d rather take the free option. I agree it is more honest to do it your way, but it gives them zero incentive to change things. I want to pay for movies, but it feels worse than looking for a torrent.

There are some dvd players that ignore the `unskippable` command in the dvd. It`s still an annoyance to keep having to press fast forward.

Movies at the theatre routinely run 10-15 mins of previews now, It`s getting ridiculous.
