"The president always gets more credit/blame than he deserves for the economy. It`s congress that controls taxes and spending and, therefore, the economy. "

It`s the president that writes the budget, and with congress in Bushes pocket they absolutely granted his budget request 100%. So the blame with Bush is accurate.

The only reason people dislike Obama is because he promised hope and change, and people expect that all to happen within his first year in office.

One year in office won`t change 8 years of Republican f**k-ups.

No, and here`s why. You started two wars without paying for them. You gave tax cuts to the richest. You cut funding for social programs like lunches for children. You ran up a $12 trillion debt. When you got in a hole, you kept digging. You ignored Katrina. You were way in over your head.

Zerocyde "How the hell could I have voted McCain?"

Believe me, I understand you completely. It was a piss-poor choice on both sides of the ballot. I actually wasn`t that disappointed when Obama won. I figured that with a huge Democrat majority in congress, the economy was going into the dumper no matter who won. If McCain had won, he`d sign all the crap that came out of congress so he could look like he was being bipartisam, and the Republicans would be blamed for the mess. Now the blame will fall entirely on the Democrats where it belongs.

The president always gets more credit/blame than he deserves for the economy. It`s congress that controls taxes and spending and, therefore, the economy. The economy turned up under Clinton only after the Republicans took over congress in `95, and it went into the dumper after the Democrats took it back in `07.

he was at least a loveable idiot. i can respect that. and money being spent on that instead of haiti, that i dont think is a big deal. youve got people willing to donate 15 bucks call that good and drop 5 bucks a day on starbucks coffee. me personally, i didnt donate. i figured 5.2 billion dollars from the UN was decent enough. and in all honesty, i find it more of a waste to send money through a charity that might not even get to where i intended it to go. i donate to other jank. and in 3 months time, the haiti earthquake will be forgotten and the US will be the bad guys everyone hates again. i love the cycle. they already forgot about america samoa and the philippines and the tsunami 5 years ago or whatever. im a cruel heartless bastard.

"i remember it took clinton time b4 his work really brought us prosperity."

I`m not interested in arguing the point, but Clinton did finalize the NAFTA deal, and that cost a lot of working people their jobs.
Doesn`t strike me as prosperity. But then maybe it`s easy not to have noticed that if you weren`t in the workforce at the time.

right now, the vocal ones are those who are clawing for ground lost. dems-aligned ppl have less inclination to attack because dems are the ones more in power. it was the opposite when reps were the ones with more status, reps-aligned ppl were less vocal from what i remember.

i notice how most of the responses here also very much depend on geographic location. in the us alone, southern and midwestern americans are more willing to place bush and obama on the same level. easterners are more likely to flat out say no to bush.

but as my opinion, cmon people, the obama man has barely had one year in office and is only getting settled. and imho, the reps have been able to etch into his celebrity reputation because it was so exposed- of course its going to lose ground to a more realistic level! give the man a more realistic time period to figure out his presidency b4 you want another person at the helm.

i remember it took clinton time b4 his work really brought us prosperity.

I honestly think Obama wont serve a 2nd term. (the only way is if the GOP used Palin)
As for missing Bush? I honestly think he did a pretty decentjob for what cards he was dealt. The media didntlike him primarily due to his im gonna do this so just deal with it attitude although I do admitBush was terrible at speaking.Thats pretty bad after 8 years.
I really dislike the whole OMG HE GAVE TAX CUTS TO THE RICH!Im sorry but none of my bosses have ever been poor folks. If they have more money, they have more incentive to hire people.
Different political viewpoints are good and all the only thing I dislike is when people actually call themselves Democrats or Republicans as that is the moment when the person has lost all their objectivity on any issue as they would just copy what the party is doing.
Personally I think Obama could do well BUT the left leaning folks should realize that the Dems have all the power yet they are still blaming the GOP for everything, they have yet to

Hey, don`t get all pissy at us Obama voters, we had no logical other choice. McCain said; "only christians should be allowed to be president" and Obama said; "Whatever this once was, it is no longer a christian nation, it is an everybody nation."

How the hell could I have voted McCain?

Sohltofangy, you made me LOL!

"Ending don`t ask don`t tell..."
Hasn`t done that yet.

"ATTEMPTING to get health care reform..."
Nothing accomplished.

"has an actual exit strategy with Iraq..."
What is it? We`re still there!

"Guantanamo bay..."
Still open.

"allowing cubans to visit their family members..."
Woo hoo! Hey, at least it`s something to brag about!

"OBAMA RULES!"
Actually, he WANTS to rule, but that little inconvenience of the Constitution is standing in his way. Don`t worry, he`s working on it.

"Its become a fad to hate him because people are stupid. Unless you have a legitimate reason."
I have plenty of reasons to DISAGREE with him, but I don`t hate him the way you hate Bush. Obama isn`t a leader; he`s an agitator. Agitators don`t solve anything, they just demand solutions. He`s never run anything in his life except his mouth, and he needs a teleprompter for that.

bush served two terms because of his religious views and the fact that we were in the middle of war. its not often that the leadership of a country (actually i dont think at all in american history) that a new leader was voted in during war times. it also doesnt help that half the people who voted for him probably did it because they "hate them queers and brown peoples duh-huh." im just sayin.

Really? his first year of presidency he ignored facts about pending attacks and 9/11 happened, it was only AFTER that that he decided to step up security.

In obamas first year he LISTENED to reports about pending attacks and a terrorist bombing was diverted...

too bad his "Education" program only taught you to forget history older than a facebook post

Sohltofangy: ...ATTEMPTING to get health care reform (more than the republicans have done)...

Correct me if I`m wrong here, but McCain also had a health care plan, one that would be viable compared to Obama`s; and up until the Massachusetts` election, the Dems had a super majority in the Senate, that is 60 Dems to 40 GOPs. And in the case of a super majority the Dems would be able to walk all over the GOPs. Even so now, a 59-41 majority, the Dems could still walk over any opposition. So why can`t they? If you want to blame anyone for blocking health care, blame the progressive Dems. But you know, you actually have to use your brain if you want to figure that out...

Hey, at least it really was a door. It was in China, and the door happened to be locked.

Obama, on the other hand, tied to go through a WINDOW at the White House. Of, course, you would have no way of knowing that unless you watched Fox News.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RV3QxYBL...

The same MSM that looped the Bush incident over and over and over again to try to make him look stupid covered up for the boy genius Obama. They`re doing it still.
