This could have been obnoxious Christians, or it could have been someone trying to make Christians look bad. We may never know which, but regardless of their motives. I`m not going to condemn anyone except the specific person(s) who actually did this.

The Middle Eastern death cult that practices ritual cannibalism strikes again.

Xians are a disgusting bunch of self-righteous fools. Maybe they are upset at the fact that Neo-Paganism is growing faster than their death centered cult.

Blessed Be, so mote it be.

It`s ok to persecute so long as we are not the ones being persecuted... That is the mentality. These fools obviously don`t realize their religion is largely based of Pagan ideas and Wiccan beliefs are similar.

Every religion has its idiots.

Christians, just being a larger religion, have more.

Yes, they are annoying. But Christians aren`t doing this. People are.

I for one, Christian though I may be technically be, embrace the Wiccans.

Crosses might actually play a part somewhere in Wicca... I`ll have to check that one out.

"What I want to know is how do you know you want to become a eh... Wiccan? Piepig"

Exactly the same as becoming a christian. Find a bunch of ignorant credulous escapists. Go to where they "worship" or cast "spells" (pray) and make it obvious you are a complete numpty who can be easily brainwashed. Alternatively be one of the children of a christian or wiccan and be indoctrinated before you are old enough to think for yourself or know any better. If you can`t find a local wiccan coven or church, try your local LARP, trekkies, furries or D&D club.

The second someone desecrate a Christian establishment, it is all about religious intolerance. If Christians desecrate other religious sites...they look at it as doing god`s work.

How do we know the Christians placed the cross there? Maybe it belongs to some other religious group that uses a cross, I blame the Scientologist. If you read closely Tom cruise had been on campus a week before, this is obviously a plot to get the republicans back into power to expedite the return of a resurrected zombie robot Hitler.

My father thinks like that. he`ll demand that the government stay out of healthcare, and to let him make his own choices about his health..., then demand that abortions be outlawed. (just one of many, many examples there.)

"Why can`t people just let others practice whatever religion they want to practice in peace? Some people have no respect."

Because a good number of religions worldwide believe THEY are the right one, everyone else is wrong, and therefore they should either die for being a heathen or be subject to getting raped by pamphlets.

Listen, guys, especially Piepig and Max Normal... it`s hard being Wiccan in a world where most "Wiccans" are nothing but LARPers and goth kids who end up dropping it like piano lessons. Becoming Wiccan takes years of study, practice, and discipline. Most people go out and buy a pentagram from Hot Topic... it took me 18 years to EARN mine, it was passed down from my mother to me. It`s easy to sh** on a religion when it`s not yours, but trust me, not all of us are "ignorant escapists". I`m not.

Agreed. Feelgood God-Loves-You evangelical Christians have been spouting this BS for years because it makes them feel good to send missionaries to the `poor ignorant masses` of China. You can`t just admit you want to be a tourist, you have to get your local congregation to pay the expenses AND make yourself out to be a selfless courageous martyr risking death in the process.

One of, if not the most important factors that define a religion is conversion. Some people are so enamored with this mission they go to extremes.

If you ask a typical american christian why this is done, your answer will most likely be something like this:

"Because jesus told his deciples to go forth and preach to the gentiles"

Here`s what that passage ACTUALLY says:

Matthew 10:5
Those twelve jesus sent forth, and commanded them saying, "Go not into the way of the Gentiles, or into the city of the Samaratins, but go instead to lost sheep of israel."

Jesus was a revolutionary Jew. He wanted to change Judaism, not the world. Somewhere, someone got the wrong idea...

I believe in bits and pieces of quite a few religions but try to respect everyones religious standing, in my eyes making a negative comment on someone elses religion is simply bad manners. This behaviour of putting a Christian symbol in a Wiccan place of worship is something I am sure their God would definitely not approve of.

First off, what part of religion should I respect? The ancient text written by nomads? the general hatred for other religions?

Why should I give up my personal belief that it`s all horsepoo so they won`t get offended? they don`t offer me the same courtesy.

I also find it humorous that after you go "BE TOLERANT TO OTHERS!" you then go "don`t reproduce, you`re idiots for not allowing huge groups to be delusional"

Ugh. Religion. *eyeroll*

I can`t tell you how often I worry about the fact that if the human race as a whole does not let go of the ridiculous, mindless and dangerous belief in religion we are doomed to extinction. Preventable, unnecessary and entirely self-made extinction.

I can`t say I`ve never thought that maybe it`s a fate our species deserves.

The problem here is the ignorant "I`m right, everyone else is wrong" attitude. Sadly, most religions encourage that attitude. But the human race will never mature as a species until we lose that attitude.

Actually, most Christians I know are really cool folks who keep their beliefs to themselves, it`s just the obnoxious few who give all of them a bad image. Same goes for other religions.

But religion itself is not the core, the attitude is present in politics, among sports fans, among movie and music fans, etc...

Ignorance is the problem.

"So who wants popcorn? Christians, Atheists, Muslims, and some Wiccans and Jews, you don`t get any, you`re the entertainment, not the audience."

Why are Atheists the audience. We trump you all. We bypass all of it by not having any religion. I don`t recall any atheists defacing anything.

"The problem here is the ignorant "I`m right, everyone else is wrong" attitude. Sadly, most religions encourage that attitude. But the human race will never mature as a species until we lose that attitude."

The truth is that most likely, you are wrong, whoever you are, myself included. There are just too many options out there. Too many people saying that they are right. Even if you stick with one religious base, say Christianity, you still have too many choices. You could be a Catholic, Presbyterian, Protestant, and so on. They all have different believes, but worship the same God. They can`t all be right. Even if we assume that one group has it right, all the rest are wrong. Have faith that you are right, folks, but be willing to accept that you are wrong, and let others go about their day having their faith that they are wrong.

"All that was done was the placing of a wooden cross ?, Seriously ? It was burnt or on fire ?

That`s really not desecration, Just move it."

And if a Star of David was placed on a Christian site, would they just move it? I don`t think so. The golden rule, a Christian concept if I`m not mistaken, is to treat others the way you want to be treated. If you want your holy sites respected, you have to respect others` holy sites. Even "just a wooden cross" is desecration.

Would it be considered desecration to answer the door naked and preach the power of satan to jehovah witnesses? I can`t stand when they show up.

So, Christians are haters? Tell you what, Farty, why don`t you go over to Saudi Arabia and build a Wiccan prayer site there? Then let me know how that works out for you -- that is if they don`t beat you like a rented mule first for driving a car or going outside without a male family member and a burka.

This example is irrelevant. Sharia Law being intolerant of other religions does not preclude Christianity from also being intolerant.
It is not OK to do something bad just because someone else does something worse.

And I can see why Wiccans would be offended by this. All the Christians saying "just remove it" would be crying bloody murder were someone to chalk a satanic circle on the floor of their church.

/me high fives any other Buddhists or Taoists reading this silly argument, we chose religions that get to avoid this nonsense!

So who wants popcorn? Christians, Atheists, Muslims, and some Wiccans and Jews, you don`t get any, you`re the entertainment, not the audience.

Your faith does not "avoid this nonsense", it just happens to be irrelevant to this particular discussion. Should a topic about reincarnation, life after death, multiple lives, cosmic justice systems such as karma, or anything related to your beliefs come up, I`ll be happy to discuss them.

Incidentally, how many karma points do you lose for smug self-satisfaction and considering yourself superior to others? Gotta be at least 10.

Christians, listen. Yes, we believe that other religions are incorrect in their beliefs... but we need to stop being afraid of them, and using un-Christian-like behavior against them. You`re making it worse, not better.

I wonder what would happen if the Wiccan students chopped the cross into logs and burned it in a celebratory bonfire. Would anyone be upset? And if so, I wonder why?

But religion itself is not the core, the attitude is present in politics, among sports fans, among movie and music fans, etc...

Ignorance is the problem.

Don`t agree with the sports part, if there were no other sports fans who would i throw beer on during the game?

"if a Star of David was placed on a Christian site, would they just move it? I don`t think so."

Actually there are `Stars of David` in some Christian cemeteries and I`ve heard no complaints.

I`ve seen Masonic symbols, Muslim crescents, and even a Pentagram on headstones in a Christian cemetery.

I seriously don`t see most Christians getting `bent out of shape` over a Star of David, and if some did they`d just move it elsewhere.

Your acting like the cross would harm them in some wayby trying to move it, Do you think they`ll catch on fire ? Lol!

Btw, There was an old German church out in the country that used to get vandalized regularly by kids. It had a star in stained glass above the door. Boys took their GFs there and tell them it was a satanic church (Which it wasn`t) to scare them. "Der HERR ist mein Hirte" was painted below the glass as well. Unfortunately young ignorant kids thought that was satanic. It made local news a few times, But the church members never sued the families of the kids. However, The county judge made one group of them clean off the graffiti and repair the damage.

By far way more Christian churches have been vandalized, burned, and even blown up than any other religion`s sites here in America.

Actually, I believe they`d just get out the vacuum, clean it up, get together afterward and pray for those that did it.

Do that here, in eastern Tennessee...,
I`ll give you the most probable situation for that. (note, I`m using my father`s previous actions to base this off of.)

1) he finds the pentagram
2) he calls the police to take photos and find how they got in
3) clean up the pentagram
4) he attempts to hunt down those who did it.
5) talk about it for hours on end to people about how it`s an "Evil witchcraft conspiracy"
6) get a minor hint at who did it
7) tell everyone at the church it was them, in no uncertain terms
8) annoy the living hell out of the police to get them to arrest them
9) claim "God moved everyone into action"
10) ignore the fact that he is a bully using his church as weight behind his demands.

in all honesty, a true wiccan would have accepted the cross, and possibly invited people to bring other religious symbols. wicca is not about closed-mindedness to other religions; in fact, it embraces them all, as long as they do no harm to others.

And you get these stats from the Redneck Gazette? I`m pretty certain that here in the US most desecration goes on at synagogues. Stop trying to gain sympathy for Christians just because you are one.
