From the strings of String Theory, to galaxy clusters and more. This is a mind-blower.

Well, it appears that the thing is broken. For anybody that still wants to see it, try the original post on Newgrounds here.

If this is a true scale model, if it were ever printed out to the tiniest detail, it would be many, many times larger than the actual universe. Think about that.

A radio is an electromagnetic waves-to-voice converter, wiseguy, so the sound waves it emits travel in air at the same speed as human voice. If you could hear radio waves, you wouldn`t need a radio at all.

I didn`t know there was anything smaller than an electron, and I didn`t know there was anything bigger than my penis.

Did you know that radio waves travel faster then your voice? That means if you were in the back of a room with a person and a radio up front, you would hear the radio first. Radio waves are a mile long and travel at the speed of light. I`m awesome.

I love stuff like this.

I think one of humanity`s big problems is understanding scale on any reasonable level.

Everything from our place in the world to our place in the universe, to the odds of events, to labels we give each other.

You don`t need this to know how small you are. You are one of 7 billion people. What does that mean?

It means THIS is how many plastic beverage bottles are used every 5 minutes in the US alone.

You don`t need to look at the size of the universe to know how small we are.
what`s after the universe?
Unknown. Perhaps there`s no such thing as outside the universe. Which goes over my head - if it`s finite, how can outside it not exist?
and is thre anything smaller that that planck length thingy?
As far as I know with my limited understanding, size ceases to have any meaning below that. Below that scale, it`s all one big wtf (also known as quantum effects). But we don`t really know, because none of it is remotely close to being examinable. It`s purely a matter of maths and theory. I`m nowhere near knowledgable enough to have a clue about whether it`s right or not.

Caution may blow mind

Does this program remind anyone of that video of a press conference microsoft had with that program that was like a newspaper and you could keep zooming into it. and like they would zoom so the letter was super big then they zoomed into the side of it and there was another article written on the edge of the letter or something like that? Pretty cool

Ok, maybe I`m not physics-minded (so if this is the way they do it now, sorry... but it`s not in biology (my current PhD), but why are the powers of 10 BEFORE the unit?

- like 10^5 x 3.5???

Apart from that, great animation :)

Bah, string theory is far from any reputable science or math. It just gets a pass because it is too damn convoluted.

And nothing ends past the 13.7 billion ly horizon. The Universe is infinite, so there are an infinite number of stars and galaxies beyond our visible Universe. And I think it has been on IAB before, but one day, Earth will be the only body within its visible universe. Thanks dark energy!

Also, quantum theory breaks down at distances less than the Plunk length due to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle.
0
Reply
Female 209
Quantum foam is a concept, not a thing. It is where quantum theory breaks down at distances smaller than the Plank length. Which is where string theory tries to pick up.
