Then rams his head into a wall. Complete with a mugshot of our anti-hero. And no, this is not an Onion parody.

Spartanman... A lot. I`m talking about scuicides, homicides, momisides which no one even knows WTF that is but a WoW player would find a way to make it happen. We are talking about a world of people that brought down the lich king and all his soldiers. A momicide is possible to them.

He was old and couldn`t get him off and he was killing her what would you have him do? Hit em with a blunt object? but if that didn`t knock him out he`d probably beat grandpa to death with it.

Well no wonder he still lives with his mom, she is setting a horrible example by still living with her dad.

I blame the grandfather. The kid was merely chocking his mom. pssht! The grandfather escaladed everything by bringing a gun to the show.

This is what happens when people try to escape whatever is wrong in their lives. I play WoW almost every day, live with my boyfriend, and have friends outside the game. I can`t imagine it becoming the end all be all of my existence. That`s retarded...enough said.

Here`s a really awesome, related story:
It`s 12 AM, and Tommy needs to go to sleep. He`s been raiding since 4 PM, and his mom comes in and lets him know he has to go to sleep soon. Tommy says, sure mom! Lets his friends know, and goes to bed shortly after.

Truly tragic."

I play WoW and only the hardcore obsessed jerks are like that (and they only make up maybe .001% of WoW population). Most gamers just game as much as any other person might spend going on facebook or watching t.v.

Nope. Either Fancy edits the title/description, in which case it is (usually) correct, or he doesn`t, in which case its exactly as the member submitted it in the first place.

The funny part is that no one writes anything about the other watever million users who are normal people. They love the drama and they love blaming it on the game, instead of seeng the guy has problems beyond the fact that he plays WOW.

I only saw one source saying it was his son and it`s the Herald-Tribune, which has a tendency to beef up their stories. What are the odds a 27-year-old gamer who lives with his mom has ever gotten laid?

@ ggolbez, although i do agree that this story was released only because video games were involved. The thing is though. do you even think this would have happened had he been doing something like jacking off? or watching TV? no, the only reason this dude flipped is because of WOW... well, that and booze...

agreed, soon it will be the mere act of playing video games being likened to violent drug crimes. And the safer, less shooty games? Gateway gaming.

The ONLY reason, ONLY reason, that this has garnered ANY press is because World of Warcraft is involved. He could have been jerking off, watching television, or any other activity and no one would hear a damn thing about this. This happens CONSTANTLY. drating media pushing this poo because he was playing a video game. Pisses me the drat off!

There are people who can handle their liquor, there are people who get drunk off the first margarita. There are people who have a baby to grow a loving family, there are people who have four kids to live off the system. There are people who enjoy video games, there are people who aren`t mentally equipped to handle interactive fantasy.

It is called being held accountable and being responsible.

Ugh, people always use stories like these as excuses to say gaming is bad. It`s just an obsession, and some people are unstable enough to want to get rid of anything that deprives them of the object of their obsession.
If it had been a guy on drugs who tried to kill his mom when she took his drugs away, that wouldn`t even have been judged newsworthy :P Drugs are also an obsession.

Honestly, it`s not the games that are the issue. My brother is a huge gamer nerd, but he would never beat somebody (especially a family member) over it. People who are already drated in the head happen to play them and use them as an excuse to freak out and murder somebody or themselves.

Good riddance I say. If only his grandpa had been a better shot.
