These bird"s-eye images really assist with adjusting the scale of how massive the destruction was that day.

What`s America still doing in the middle east anyway? 9/11 is used as an excuse for everything, and oh my! I wonder what is in the middle east that isn`t in many other places! Couldn`t possibly be oil now, could it? And what on earth is this, some of our buildings and people were killed in a `terrorist` attack! Now there`s an excuse to go to the oil rich country and `help them out`!
See where I`m going with this? The ones that support the extremist actions don`t want America there because they know what they`re doing. They know they`ll `owe` something to America later.

And to whoever it was that said Europeans had the biggest tobacco problem: It`s not a problem, we smokers are enjoying it. You also spelled Europeans wrong.

"no one thinks about the thousands of innocent civilians killed in the wars."

Oh, you must be talking about those innocent civilians that were cheering, dancing in the streets and handing out candy to celebrate the heinous murders carried out by "extremists". The problem is that when America goes to war, America is responsible for anything we do and held accountable for it by the U.N. and the world court. These cowards kill thousands and then hide behind women and children in mosques. They say "It wasn`t me im one of the GOOD Muslims". Any civilians killed are a tragedy (yes even the cheering scum noted above), the difference is accountability.

poefan, you`re too young to be America`s spokesperson for normal people.

By the way, we already have one of those, and it`s called "The President of the United States of America."

wateva_x,
How confused and demented do you have to be to try and make it sound like the thousands of innocent victims who died in 9/11 don`t mean anything just because the US army is at war right now?
What kind of logic is that?
"Who cares if one person died there, 3 people died here!" Isn`t really a healthy perspective.

Grow up, and while you`re at it, I`d suggest you get your facts straight. On the war, and the fact that Eurpoeans are the ones with the major tobacco issues. Why don`t you "have a cigar" and get your head out of your ass.

There`s much more to the 9-11 story than what we`re being told.

So this is an absolute disaster and oh so tragic and rah rah rah, over 2000 people died in this attack, oh dear, what will we do...yet no one thinks about the thousands of innocent civilians killed in the wars. It`s damn selfish. I don`t care about 9/11. Yeah Yeah, people died. That`s just great. Woohoo. And now look what you`re doing America! Killing people that don`t need to die! Have a f*cking cigar! Smoke away, the war isn`t going anywhere!

Where exactly did I say that the 9/11 attacks were more important than other acts of terrorism worldwide? All acts of terrorism no matter where in the world they occur are repulsive and have never brought about any positive change. Killing innocent civilians, because you disagree with their government is nothing short of cowardly! If America "Had it coming" I guess England had the train attacks coming and India had their attacks coming etc etc etc. Hotcarl you are a troll and I refuse to feed into your juvenile need for attention. But just know that what goes around comes around and one day if the people you love are murdered violently because of anti-government sentiment that may or may not reflect your own beliefs, your insensitivity has merited your suffering.

Your nation funds Osama for years in the past, gives him weapons and expects him to use them on his own people. Somehow that information never gets talked about, hah. "Oh wow this attack was out of the blue." No it wasn`t. You had it coming. It`s a good thing the news channel I watched it all on had commercials so I could grab me a snack or two.

You see , posts like the ones below are part of the reason America has a poor international reputation. Many of them act like America is the center of the entire Earth, that what befalls them is a tragedy of a higher degree than other places, and then call others infants while acting infantile themselves.

Not all Americans of course, but the worst are always loudest.

Wow Vajenga you`re talking like 9/11 was the first terrorist attack ever. Yes 9/11 was terrible, but how about you look into other countries histories before saying THE WHOLE WORLD lost it`s innocence on 9/11. For example the provisional IRA, who terrorised the UK before anyone even knew who al-quaeda was.

haha i might get flamed for this but anyway...

I still believe that the USA is the greatest country in the world. It like everything else has its faults (especially the government) but if that makes me an idiot then so be it. If you hate it here so much why do you still live here? As far as the general story of 9/11 I still don`t know what to believe. However I do know that all of you people who are looking for a conspiracy and blame it on ourselves are no better than people who would blame a rape victim for bringing on their attack, true lowlives. You are the same people that call "shopped" on every post because you are trying to appear smarter than you really are. To you 9/11 might be just something that you read about or watched TV coverage of. I was there, I lost friends that day. Your pathetic attempts at intelligence and need for attention only serve to erase the true signifigance of what we as Americans and the whole world lost that day, Our innocence.

sorry if my angry comment was offensive to any american. its just that i see the picture in a different way than you guys. while i have known many good americans, the way i see your government handling international issues is really not looking fair. i understand that they do a real good job in natural crises abroad such haiti and indonesia, but i dont really beleive that the military in the middle actually try to harm as few civilians as possible. how about all the torture cases we hear the u.s. or u.k. governments probing. you can also check that link for only few of the stories i learned about from reliable sources.

i dont have problems with americans themselves, its just their government make me feel they are trying to hide sooo much from the whole world not only their own people

@Burnin_roses

One thing thats true is american culture typically cares more about ourselves than we do any other population.. Case in point Katrina and 9-11. Compared to Haiti Earthquakes or the 2004 our homeland disasters have been minescule, but we all know which disasters made more headlines. I mean sure we care, and give aid, but its not as critical. If our leaders acted the way bush did with katrina to these global disasters, it wouldnt even be news. But since that Happened on American soil, the US Mentality screams "WHY DID HELP NOT GET HERE SOONER?" I dont think that would ever happen overseas..

Are you kidding me that we only care about ourselves? When thing`s happen in other contries disaster of anykind we have chairities and most the time take our military over there and help out as much we can.
We don`t greve over 9/11 like we use to. but when we see something (i.e. this post) we will let it be known. and we show our rememberance. Just shows we have pride, and that we are just one big family.

tozfttoz: First of all, Americans don`t really cry about 9/11 anymore. We remember the tragedy when things like this are posted, then go about our daily business. Second, the relief efforts going on for Haiti and that went on for the Pacific tsunami a while ago prove that Americans care about people in other countries. Don`t try to think otherwise. Third, we care about Iraqis, Afghanis, etc., just not the ones that attack us. The military efforts in the Middle East harm as few civilians as possible while seeking out members of extremist groups like Al-Qaeda.

im sick and tired of americans crying about the 9/11 attacks. 9/11 was nothing but a horrible thing, and so many innocents died in there for no reason. but hell, i have to admit that its consequences were way more horrible than 9/11 itself. i dont care about what happened in 9/11 no more cuz it seems that many americans dont give a $hit about non americans and whatever happens to them. its like only their blood is worth crying over, but the blood of millions of innocent afghanis, iraqis-only to mention a few- is not even worth mentioning. they think its good enough to believe their media and repeat the famous "national security" bold statements. so u know what, fudge the american remembrance fudge it

SilverThread..... yes, we (the U.S.) had intelligence previously which led to those phone lines and satellites. However, China and Japan will likely soon surpass us in intelligence, the only thing they haven`t already beaten us at so far. That business with America that China was involved has led to China owning over 1/3 of the United States` $1,000,000,000,000+ debt. If China were to treat us like banks treat regular customers, the U.S. land would be foreclosed to China, and they would own us......

Sorry, I didn`t read all the comments because I`ve been here awhile and know how these go - I help!

I guess I just feel that while 9/11 may have changed how countries interact on an international level, 9/11 impacted upon individual`s lives (putting aside massive irrational personal fear) far less than the tangible impacts of worldwide economic strife.

I agree with you, however, that we are coming out of it. THANK YOU STIMULUS.

GJ: I`m not so sure about the impact. We seem to be recovering just fine already, while the Middle East hasn`t recovered from invasions and whatnot yet.

ElDavo - the 21st century is 10 years old. Nothing has had more impact - worldwide - than this economic meltdown in the last 10 years. I argue that no single economic meltdown between the Great Depression and now has been as significant worldwide. Thats all I`m saying. If you can point to another historical meltdown with a more traumatic impact, please cite it.

FUN FACT - TEA PARTY Texas Governor candidate Debra Medina, while on the Glenn Beck radio show, DID NOT DENY THAT SHE THINKS THE GOVERNMENT WAS BEHIND 9/11 WHEN DIRECTLY ASKED THE QUESTION.

She said: "I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard," Medina replied. "There are some very good arguments, and I think the American people have not seen all of the evidence there, so I have not taken a position on that."

Hepa: Bush used 9/11 as hate fuel in his quest to invade Iraq. I think it single-handed convinced the American people that the invasion was justified (I`m not gonna try to argue about this, just so you know). It`s more important than just the people that died that one day. Still, how important it is in defining an entire century is still to be determined.

"It is the defining moment of the 21st century SO FAR."

I actually disagree, and I believe the global economic meltdown had a more generalized impact on the world than 9/11 and the subsequent Iraq conflict, which admittedly involved only a few of the world`s players.

The global economic meltdown affected EVERYONE - see today`s stories about the impending financial collapse of Greece and the impact upon the EU and the Euro...

All I`m saying is that it`s ignorant to talk about something in a context you only know 10% of. If someone cures cancer later, as in hundreds of millions of deaths avoided, would you still say this is THE defining moment? How about a nuclear war? World War 3? Undeniable proof about religion that eliminates arguments and wars over it? Time travel is made possible? Yes, 9/11 would be ONE OF the defining moments, but it`s unreasonable to say right now that it`s THE defining moment.
