This list is stupid. I am an an ironworker and I think I have the BEST job, not the worst job. I love what I do and I am proud of what I do. Also, 22k-49k is ridiculous. I made 110K in 2009.

Retarded list. Especially the Seaman job. First off, it doesn`t matter what branch of the military you are in, each branch has the exact same pay scale based on the individual`s rank. Secondly, the pay may not be great, but for an 18 year old E-1 to have free room and board and free healthcare, it`s not too shabby.

There are other reasons I would suggest avoiding the military, but it has nothing to do with pay or benifits.

I was thinking more along the lines of food service. I`ve been there and wouldn`t go back unless I lost my current job.

@najamesk1

*facepalm* Ok, then, why don`t you go and get a job that pays, like, 500000 a year? That a lot of money, so according to your logic, you`ll need literally no skills at all. Anyone can do it, right?

Also, you`re a dumbass.

Ahh, the beauty of republican culture, Careers that actually require skills and hard work don`t pay, and job that require zero skill and no hard work pay the best. isn`t that awesome!

this was a stupid list. the jobs weren`t even bad and there was no information about any of them other then a random picture.

That was the dumbest list especially for this economy most people would be happy to have those jobs.it named like every average job and they were wayyyy offf with the numbers...my bf and dad are both longshoremen and many times have $1300 days and hit well over the 22-62,000 mark..maybe that depends on location..anyway that was dumb!

"A lot of those jobs are pretty good gigs actually. There are a HELL of a lot worse. "

It`s not about being a BAD job.. it`s about the fact those jobs will be dying out because of the pooconomy.

IMO (u didint asked for it but still will get it XD)
worst job is unemployed. and in this day and age it happens a lot! since people dont want work they want money! cause work is hard

also some people get more money from social security than my country`s minimum wage (wich is around 300€ i think) and some people get 250€ base plus bonuses for somethings like meds and electricity... Some even get housing for free... AND COMPLAIN about it! (true story...)

*rant over*

anyway better to work at circus than to be all day locked up in a tiny litle cubicle with no social interaction and doing tedious task... at least u can have fun with hard jobs...

They forgot bankers, lawyers and polititians. Sure, there`s money in it, but with a social recognition like those have, only sociopaths would want a job like that.

There`s worse, but I`d happily put my taxes to these people instead of some retard CEO who`s thinking of another way of scamming folk.

I think my job sucks pretty bad at the moment. I am a care assistant in a nursing home, so I clean up sh*t, vomit, p*ss all day, the residents sometimes get aggressive and either swear at me or hit/scratch me and I only make around £700 a month.

wow, i guess we are supposed to take one thing from Mr Diaz. Hsrd work sucks. I got laid off a couple months ago and i`d be perfectly happy to take any of those "worst jobs." I notice "progressive lazy blogger" wasn`t on the list even though it`s salary consists of misplaced grandeur and carpel tunnel. So Fernando Diaz, suck my nuts

Note also that these are careers that they`re talking about, not really "jobs" per se. Something you do for a lifetime v. something you do for a couple years. `Course, that said, the title is rather misleading. Ah well.

This is completely misleading. There`s way more to a job than the salary. If you go into photojournalism for example, you`re probably not just doing it for the money - you`re doing it because you get to travel to the most exciting places on earth and take pictures. Sure you`re not making a ton of money, but when you`ve got a job like that you probably don`t spend as much on entertainment. Or antidepressants.

This list is bullpoo. You`re telling me that being a fireman or emt is worse than working at McDonalds as a mop jockey? Or the graveyard shift at 7/11? Come on... what the drat?

retail, telemarketer, collection agent, fast food slave - those are all worse than anything on that list.
since when is a being a cop, emt or firefighter a bad job?
High stress, relatively high risk.
This is a rubbish list. There are far worse jobs that pay much less than these.
Exactly. How much does McDonalds pay in the USA? What about till staff in a shop? That`s one hell of a crap job, although at least you do it sitting down. Or floor staff in a shop - you work 40+ hours a week to be dirt poor, the job sucks and you`re guaranteed to get hassle from unpleasant customers.

I think the makers of this list overlooked the "modern day peasant" type of jobs at the bottom end of things...which of course includes most of the worst jobs.

A job is a job, and every single one of those listed offer more money than I am making currently. I`d be grateful.

Working retail should be up there, most start out at minimum wage, usually no overtime, most get like a dime a year raise, crappy insurance, and you have to deal with customers.

What moron decided those jobs were bad? The 10.4% of Americans, without jobs would love a job that starts at 20KUSD a year. None of those jobs are even remotely close to anything resembling bad. Bad is scraping up poo at a pig farm 14 hours a day for 7 bucks an hour.

Jeeze - way to knock the middle class average working stiff - WTF - all the jobs are normal everyday blue collar jobs. The extra benefit of many of these jobs are most men who do physical work for a living are super sexy.

actually alk3v, the college degree makes all the difference. most of these jobs don`t require an actual degree, the firefighters, police, and EMTs do, but its not like normal college.

@LazyMe484: You really think a degree makes that much of a difference? I`m graduating next year and 40% of the kids I know in business school don`t have jobs. Enjoy being a bus boy until the economy improves, then you can compete with the millions of others with college degrees.

Interesting the jobs are either union work or government work. I think unions should be disbanded because the companies shell out to much money to keep employees happy. Since everyone makes the same there is no competition to be the best because you don`t get anything extra so everyone ends up being lazy. The same applies for government work but the pay structure is different.
