He`s a politician. I`d be more concerned if everything he said came true.

And for god sakes, FOX BUSINESS? I`m really getting sick of this spew on IAB. I wouldn`t be so complaintive about it except for the fact that we have a submission process that is supposed to weed crap like this out. If this and single pictures are submittable material, what the hell is considered not IAB-worthy?

I used to listen to a morning radio show in San Diego when I was in high school and college. Really funny--good jokes, good sketches. Then over time (especially after 2001), they got more and more political. They stopped joking about candidates and started discussing them. They joked occassionally, but it was rarer and less funny. I gave up on them soon after, tuning in only rarely.

If I want to know one sides U.S. political views, there are a billion and a half other cites I can look at. If you want to spout (even indirectly), please create a new site, Fancy, and leave this one doing what it does best.

i read the comments from the site. not only are they basically one-sided, they`re also pretty crazy.

"This is what happens when you vote in garbage. The American ppl should NOT be allowed to vote anymore b/c they keep voting in crooked lawyers and murderers to be their leaders. We need one leader w/ no congress; no republican`ts and no democraps, no Hooker of the House, no sec of state; none of that sh*t. Just one guy who makes all the decisions, the RIGHT decisions for HIS COUNTRY: WE THE PEOPLE. And if anyone opposes him, then go to hell better yet, go to Europe or Asia! I`m sick of this sh*t"

For the first time in my 23 years of existence, I agree with FOX wholly. And, embarrassingly, I am one of those "Obamanoids". Well, I wasn`t Obama crazy or anything, but I really did believe him. Ironically, in the past, I vowed never to vote, ever, because of exactly what`s happening right now: we are disappointed by a President`s broken promises. I think I`ll go back to not voting, especially NOT voting for Obama next term. I will never vote republican however, so whether I wanted to vote or not, it doesn`t matter. I honestly thought Obama was even just a little different. He has turned out to be just a tad better than Bush, in terms of helping us, Americans, out. He is much better at lieing though....Bush couldn`t figure out the english language if it was written on the back of a bottle of Jack, or a bag of coke....

"Hey, fox is fair and balanced They told me so."

the last point you can`t deny, they showed a graph comparing all presidents and its not biased towards republicans. it shows everyone minus Reagan (R) and Clinton (D) majorly increased our debt. you can look any where and see Obama has drastically spent more than any other president prior.

that is partially contributed to the inflation of the dollar (caused mostly by Bush

the C-SPAN thing isn`t uncommon I mean they may talk about it here and there in the white house so it`d be weird to randomly show segments of 15-30 minutes of a 1-2 hour meeting, plus somethings just weren`t meant to be televised. most of the debating goes on in the House and Senate anyways and those get aired...

as for the bills online...whatever. unless you knew a bill was coming up, you`d never catch it in the 5 days. plus, some bills you can`t sit on for a week so the public can see it...

    btw, I`m a conservative

They tried that in Germany a few years ago, it didn`t turn out too well. Parts of your theory of government I do agree with: no republicans, no democrats. We should have one party: Americans and non-Americans. Americans work together to better the majority, non-Americans get sent back to their non-American country in order to prevent the fall of our "empire" (I`m referencing a book that basically defines empires, which in turn is defining Amer

Fox may be biased but from a glimpse it has taken statements campaign pledges if you will and then given the evidence why it has been broken. Take the UK gaurdian, telegraph and times all have a bias but all tell the truth (except for medical and scientific which media on the whol screws up royally everytime)

To the politifact link, that is biased in itself some promises will hold more weight then others. It would be easier for him to introduce loads of minor changes but give up on his major promises but it would still look like he has oiverall achieved what he planned. When there is a bill that ends up on my desk as President, you the public will have five days to look online - Obama

@morrigan, how does the messenger change the message? In FACT the Dems demanded (and got) a vote on a bill NOT even finished yet, nevermind read by congress, and certianly not read by the public. Obama broke his own promise (public reading before signing) many times now. Fact! Is this a lie because Fox reported it?
@vitality, did you even READ the article before spouting off on it? A fact is a fact, Obama lies, deal with it.

I dunno, I checked these all out. They`re real. Just because Fox reported them doesn`t mean they didn`t happen. What they haven`t reported on is that Obama has kept a number of his promises. But these major ones are ones that haven`t been kept. I`d say that two of them: the one promise that he wouldn`t force people to buy insurance, and to have C-Span televise the debates...are pretty important.

OMG Politicians don`t deliver on every single thing they said. STOP THE PRESSES!

Lets talk liars - lets post about Sen. Ensign (R) being investigated right now by the FBI for helping one of his staffers get a job after he quit working for the senator as a big "I`m sorry I f*cked your wife." NOW THATS THE FAMILY VALUES PARTY! Oh, hooker loving Sen. Vitter (R) is another example of Republican Purity.

You HAVE to be a little sleazy to survive in politics - but I don`t think this site is supposed to be a political gossip site.

I really don`t come on this site for politics. I`m all for taking the hits and giving them, but I come here to see people shoot bottle-rockets out of their asses, injure themselves doing obviously dumb things, pictures that may or may not be photoshopped (which leads to informed discussion about FAKE and REPOST).

I really don`t come here to discuss electoral prospects or the value of higher education with OldOllie (although thats fun too).

And I have to just note - its not a "lie" to say what your proposed policies would be, and then adjust what you can actually produce when the congress - full of completely individual politicians, many of which are explicitly hostile - chooses to do something else. Obama cannot just dictate to Congress how to run its own show. Its called seperation of powers.

Yes, and Republicans jump and scream and whine and resist every single step of the way. Again, there are promises, and then there is reality of what can be accomplished. If that shocks you, you won`t like politics - regardless of political affiliation.

"the fact that so many people accept that politicians lie and still support and vote for them anyway"

You find the "virtuous" politician and I`ll give you $1. What are we supposed to do? Just quit caring? Politics is perception - no wonder people who are Republicans don`t like Obama, while Democrats do. "Truth" in such matters is usually in the eye of the beholder - hence all the efforts to "frame the message."

I`m just saying its not a lie to say what you would do if you had your way. Obama can`t have his way on everything, because Congress is independant.

And unlike Republicans today - who vote NO on every single thing like little babies because they can`t get their way - even blocking a defense appropriation just because, which later passed with 88 votes - sometimes politics requires COMPROMISE.

I would LOVE IT if Republicans would, you know, try and LEGISLATE with us, instead of simply crying and complaining that the majority doesn`t listen.

FACT - According to census data, Republican senators represent 36.5% of the population of the country, Democratic senators represent 63.5%, YET FOR SOME REASON REPUBLICANS STOP EVERYTHING. And then they SCREAM about Democrats thwarting the will of the people!

"Senators representing 63 percent of the public vote for the bill; those representing 37 percent vote against it. The bill fails."

Eh, he broke some promises, but all in all he`s kept the same general track that he said he would follow. Now he`s not going to solve everything, he`s definitely going to make some things worse - whats important is to consider how he can improve, without simply stating current facts, but also how what he is currently doing will not pay off in the future.

Looking at something like corruption in a politician is a pointless task; more focus needs to be applied towards examining the future issues that will be caused by current and future decisions by the president. It`s all a bunch long strings twisted in a ball, and you have to examine every piece and how they intertwine. Such simplistic views of such complicated problems (e.g. REPUBLICANS SUCK) only lead to trouble.

Notice how I didn`t actually suggest anything that Obama should do; this is because I`m not very educated on the subject.

"didn`t he say he would close gitmo too?"

Obama: We`re closing the prisons and detention camp, bringing detainees to US facilities to be tried for their crimes.

Senate: Wait a second. We need a better plan than that.

Obama: Okay, I`ll work something out, but I have a lot of other things to take care of too.

Typical response from a kool-aid drinking, political product buying American, GoalieJerry. I like how you started off defending a politician lying (yes LYING) and then transgressed into a partisan, anti-republican rant. And I guarantee you don`t defend George Bush`s lies (yes he lied too). "What are we supposed to do?" Gee, I don`t know... STOP VOTING FOR THESE PEOPLE?! Ask your friends and family why the drat they`re voting for people just because of the label they`re selling (republican/ democrat). These greedy-ass politicians are all the same no matter what product they are selling you. The only thing that has changed is we pay more taxes than last year and our deficit is now over 90% of our GDP in 2010. NOTHING else has changed and nothing would have changed with McCain either. It`s time for people to take theirs heads out of the sand and demand we stop electing and defending corrupt, power hungry, money hungry, CAREER politicians.

"Senators representing 63 percent of the public vote for the bill; those representing 37 percent vote against it. The bill fails."

That`s called the Doctrine of the Equality of States in action, as provided for under the 4th Article of the Constitution. Small states have equal suffrage in the senate. They had to be given that or there would have been benefit to them joining the union.

There`s a reason why federal legislation requires that a large majority of the country approves of it. States are still semi-sovereign entities that cannot be dominated by other states without good cause

I would love it if Republicans would, you know, try and LEGISLATE with us

goaliejerry you make some valid points. I`d just like to point out that in the House helthcare `debate` the Reps tried to offer 7-8 ammendments, all voted down by party lines. The 1 Reps proposal which was in there was removed before the vote by the (Dems) commitee. So they tried, eh? But were shut out.
Also, the Dems vote No NO! On everything when they`re in minority too, it goes with the system.
And goaliejerry you can e-mail me my dollar now, John Maccain = honest politician. Zero `earmarks` many bi-partisan bills, ran a `clean` campaign & etc. (not squeaky clean, but the cleanest I`ve seen in years, eh? and by his orders apparently)

    6) Taxing cigarettes more is a bit of a stretch to claim it is meant to be a tax on the lower and middle class. Of course most smokers (as are most people) lower and middle class, but it has no effect on non-smokers.

    5) From what I`ve heard, it wasn`t a ban on earmarks, but an effort to attribute them to the right representatives, and hold the representatives responsible for them. He made some progress, but not much.

    4) I`m not sure of the context of this. From what the quote seems to indicate, it`s that the government is forcing everyone to have insurance, and the other quote about homelessness applies. I would guess the rest of the speech (most aren`t just one sentence) talked about how everyone would be able to choose between a public option, a private one, or none. Idk. Please fill in the gaps if you can help.

3 and 2) Yes, I would have liked more transparency. But this is one of those thing that, while I`m disappointed, I can`t say I didn`t expect it.

    1) What amount of the spending was already in motion before he assumed the presidency? The $750 billion bailout, I know, and there were a few more on the same scale. At the very least, I`m happy they repaved the downtown here (Binghamton NY), and are moving on to tackle more problems. Probably a lot of the bailout money was a waste, but that was put in place during the previous administration, to be dolled out in the current one.

Overall, these six "major" issues aren`t that bad, excepting for the transparency. From what I can tell, his (real) failures have been in not being able to change Washington overnight, or not being able to control Congress (now I remember; the problem with earmarks is that only Congress controls what Congress does; the president doesn`t have much say).

where we as a country go wrong is in our political ideas as a citizenry. we are HUNGRY for promises, we want them, they are nectar to us at election time. but the truth is real leaders must lead by strategy and a general direction to make eventual progress for the people. promises should not be made at all, ESPECIALLY when you have a lot of enemies with their fingers in the batter looking to make you look anywhere near bad.

i do not affiliate myself with either of the two parties but i find myself aligned more presently with the dems because they listen more to the less rich majority. im glad our highest executive office position is back in dems hands.

but im also honestly a bit glad we dont have a supermajority anymore in the senate. NOT BECAUSE of all those failed failed filibusters made by reps hoping to finally drill in a statement. BUT BECAUSE i believe in checks and balances and id feel our country is better with a mixed party govt than a homogenously centric one. (cont above

    (cont below)

then again, i fear republicans are still going to be vindictively out to bring obama`s reputation down further and persist in stubborn consistent filibustering especially when i hear a number of the party are actually voting that way more for party lines when they actually wish to vote differently themselves.

bah. but tbh i dont beleive its obamas fault as much as our country`s political daftness en masse. and hey, no country is perfect, anyway. but i do think we have parts of a good foundation in place. and we work slowly to make it better.

All those saying give Obama a break, compare his first yr or even first hundred days with Bush.... Dont go into Iraq afghanistan etc just look at there first year apporoval ratings and achievements one comes out miles ahead of the rest.

He hasnt done too well, he is inexperienced(Bush had daddy`s friends from senoir stint to help) But that isnt to say he cannot do better. Look at Clinton he did really badly first year to. But solved your deficit with the third way. Learn to accept criticsm of Obama the sun dont shine out of his arse like you think people hes just a human like the rest of us....

When President Obama decided to "look forward and not backward" he failed miserably at keeping the very oath of office that he swore to uphold. If you or I committed a crime during the Bush administration, we would still be pursued and prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but Obama has given a free pass to the Bush administration. Whether or not anyone believes the Bush administration committed any crimes is irrelevant since it is not for us to determine. There is a mountain of evidence of serious criminal activity and it is Obama`s sworn duty to to make sure a thorough investigation takes place, even if an investigation leads to the CIA or Nancy Pelosi or any Democrat. The broken promises pale in comparison to this, his first, epic fail.

I can read, and what I read doesn`t discredit or make any of those "promises"..."broken". Unless, of course, you live in imagination land or something...lol.

Did a 12 year old write that article???

I`d hardly consider these to be analysed points considering the majority of the words in this... statement were quotes, and then his commentary was a contrived statement vilifying whatever had been said with an example that doesn`t clearly support his point. What are you going on about? Obama has made promises and has clearly broken at least six of them. Every thing in that article is factual. Cite some sources if your going to spew bullsh*t that there not.

Article - "Why the GOP should still be nervous"

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/011...

"Republicans are gleefully proclaiming the death of the Obama presidency, or at least his agenda. They claim the public has turned on him, holding him accountable for the sour economy and unemployment. However, the POLLS DON`T BACK THEM UP.

The WSJ/NBC poll found 65 percent felt Obama inherited the economic mess, while only 17 percent said his policies were “mostly responsible” for the current situation."

People still KNOW that 8 years of Republican Rule f*cked this country up, and it will take Obama some time to unwind the damage they wrought. Polls show the public recognizes this.

KEEP THE FAITH DEMS, WE ARE VERY STRONG. Republicans this week exhibited IRRATIONAL EXUBERANCE, as if the election of a pro-choice Republican means the end of the Obama pr

what a suprise, the first `black` president flat out lied his way to getting votes. Wow this is no suprise at all. I mean can he do the black race an less justice by being so damn stereotypical? He is such a disgrace. No charisma, no charm, no balls, no care for his own country, by far the worse president ever.

"for the people that say "stop voting for these people," do you really think it`s our fault that we have to decide between two people basically? so what do you want us to do, to stop voting all together?"

actually, yes, thats the solution. of course you`d have to get EVERYONE not to vote, not just like 1000 or 10k people, it needs to be in the millions+ since 100k+ people don`t vote anyways.

that or get people away from the 2 party system. most of america doesn`t realize conservative doesn`t necessarily mean republican and liberal/democrat.

@Sabre200000: "promises no more earmarks" "first bill has 9000 earmarks"

hmmm....let me guess, when your daddy said he`d play ball with you after work and didn`t, you consider that a promise not broken...

Opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone has one, and they`re are all full of crap. Worst president ever? By what measure? After a single year in office? Let me guess - you didn`t vote for him in the first place?

Do you SEE the racism in your post? As if the performance of ONE BLACK PERSON reflects on the entire race???? Did Bush not "do justice" to the "white race" by being so incompetent??? Thats the logical fallacy of hasty generalization. Amazing.

"can`t name one single ACTUAL crime Bush committed, can you?"

October 7, 2002: Bush says, in a speech to the nation, that Saddam Hussein was a great danger to the United States. Here is the transcript

October 1, 2002: 6 days before his speech, the CIA sent Bush the National Intelligence Estimate. That report contained a consensus of 16 federal intelligence agencies that Saddam Hussein was not an imminent threat. CIA Report

That right there is plenty of evidence for any District Attorney at any level (Federal, State, or County) to bring charges of murder against Bush as long as a single soldier from their jurisdiction died in Iraq.

That is just one case again

Every "point" you attempt is completely wrong, based on things called "facts". N Pelosi herself has said that non-buyers will go to jail. She likes & supports this.
There is a small fee for trolling, please pay any Mod, kthxbai!

Pelosi has never said you will go to prison for not having health insurance. Pretty sure you watched this vid, didn`t listen to the actual things she said, and replaced reality with your own delusions (assisted handily by the submitter`s subtitles)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meZGdzL9j...

No, you do not go to prison for not having health insurance. If you can afford it AND choose not to have it, you pay a fee. We on the left prefer to call this the "retard fee", because that`s what you are if you choose not to have insurance even though you can afford it.

BTW, By your logic, all fines imposed by the government for things ranging from public urination to seatbelt violations are all taxes. Since failure to pay these can lead to prison time, you have a lot of outrage to vent before you even get to fees that are still going through congress, so I suggest you get on that ASAP.

Stone: Do you think it’s fair to send people to jail who don’t buy health insurance?
Pelosi: … The legislation is very fair in this respect.
idk, sounds pretty clear to me that she DOES support jail for non-compliance, dude. Regardless of what a Q&A video says, the new LAW does indeed say just that, so what`s your point?
There are laws to protect society as a whole (not driving 60 mph in a school zone) and laws to generate $$ for the gov`t (red light cameras). One should be supported and the other opposed.
In the case of "forced healthcare" it`s a 2 trillion dollar US gov`t takeover for 5% of the population who (allegedly) are unable to get insurance.
Here in Canada we already have that and guess what? It fails miserably! We still need seperate (and expensive) insurance for everything, and we`re taxed out the waa-zoo to boot!
This is off-topic I know, but the thread`s old now, hopef
