Did you bother to understand what a readymade is? Or who Duchamp is?

Your satire may not be good art, but your rhetoric and method was an artistic one.

You`re an ignoramus, dude. You try to turn my own statements against me when you have absolutely no idea what I`m talking about, clearly. If you bothered to know what art is, maybe you wouldn`t be so quick to criticize.
also, almightybob1, by positioning that snow-screen photo and positioning it with a mock explanation, you have just made art.

Look up Duchamp`s readymades. You just made a readymade. You just made art. Now, couldn`t that be fun and exhilarating rather than cynical and destructive?
If you`re seriously going to label a random picture of white noise plus me making up crap about it `art`, then I think you just helped prove my point.

and this is not a trend, its a lame phenomenon

Fashion is about art, art is expression. Trends on the other hand are picked out by magazines. Know the difference.

almightybob1: using a model for that possible rhetoric (it could be a totally wrong reading) is not hypocrisy, but rather as a way of drawing the rhetoric directly on fashion. The model is the woman, the woman and the table are the same. Fashion is the focal point rather than the wearer.

Just because you don`t like my reading doesn`t mean I`m grasping. I`m using methods of analysis that you have clearly never learned. Your ignorance does not negate the possibility of rhetoric.

Here`s some more art for you to analyze cagel:

I love the way the artist has captured the essentially pointless and trivial nature of our short human lives with his random, almost careless scattering of white and black. It`s a metaphor for the futility of human existence. Also note the even spread of black and white - a powerful message about the anti-apartheid movement, wouldn`t you agree?
Perhaps it`s a commentary on how women have historically been wallflowers, furniture?
Or perhaps you`re grabbing for any meaning you can think of to justify your position. Girl wearing furniture, because girls = furniture! Clevar.
Also, if your stated reading is true, note the unbelievable hypocrisy in using a model to convey said message.
figures you can`t perceive anything as art other than oil on canvas.
Don`t be an idiot. I provided one example, which happened to be a painting. I could easily have posted Michaelangelo`s David, or a Ming vase or something.

Explain it? Well, there`s a billion things missing from this...what`s the context of the show? Is it a school show? A charity show? Obviously, this is haute couture and is intended as a costume and not street wear; but without further context of the show and it`s intent, it`s impossible to say what`s going on.

OldOllie wrote, "fashion designers are woman-hating queers who love to dress models up in ridiculous, humiliating monstrosities so they can snicker at them behind their backs."

carldec, replied, "Nope.. sorry thats wrong. Fashion at this level is all about getting noticed.. they are doing this kind of thing to get noticed... and make a name for themselves."

To which OldOllie adds, "Yes, [by] dress[ing] models up in ridiculous, humiliating monstrosities..."

It seems we agree on what they are doing. We can quibble over their motives. You can get noticed by standing on a downtown street corner and flinging your poo at passersby, so there must be a bit more to it than that. I`m sure money plays a huge part, but I still bet they were ROTF when they sent this dumb tw@t out there wearing a fapping table. I wouldn`t be surprised if they were placing bets on whether she would actually do it.
Wearing a table is not art. It`s retarded. There is no message, no social commentary, no deeper meaning.
I`d say, wearing a table *randomly* is retarded. But this is not random. I mean, I wouldn`t call it art either but the aesthetic intention is obvious. For example, as someone already said, the styles of the clothes and the furniture do match.
Besides, art does not neccesarily always has those things you say. Art is subjective (yes, by "definition"), art is mainly just an expression of creativity.

nice portrayal of your douchebaggedness. If the model was perhaps from Europe, you would have an excuse for fapping your hole. After all, europe usually sets the example for being f*cked up for america. figures you can`t perceive anything as art other than oil on canvas.

I could analyze this piece by noting the victorian (or colonial) style folds of the dress coincide with the style in furniture. Perhaps it`s a commentary on how women have historically been wallflowers, furniture?

Now, that`s a basic, obvious analysis of the piece. Just because you are too stupid or lazy or judgmental to stop and do a quick reading of a creative work doesn`t mean that it`s meaningless.

cagel:

^^ That is art. I might not particularly like it, but I know it when I see it.

Wearing a table is not art. It`s retarded. There is no message, no social commentary, no deeper meaning. There`s just a moronic designer putting a table on a model because it`s unusual and therefore in the designer`s warped mind they are being "edgy".
Doing retarded things because they are retarded is not art.

And if all our comments bore you so much, feel free to go do something else. It`s unlikely you`ll be missed.
