drat it, I`m not even going to bother trying to have an intelligent debate at 3am. Especially about pooty series.
I refuse to read Twilight not because of `how stupid it is` etc.. but because, while fantasy, they took a long-time established idea (Vampires) and twisted it into something it isn`t or shouldn`t be. I won`t watch `realistic` movies that do the same ill-representation, either. Like 21? They were all non-white kids, and for that reason, I lose respect for the entertainment.
She made a killing, and some people like it, but it`s not the vampires I know and love so I won`t bother.
Btw...Harry Potter ftw! lol
What the hell, the t-shirt just says the truth about the book quality-wise: it is crappily written. How`s that thinking you are superior?
Everyone I know hates it (mainly because subtitles make them emotionally implode with the inconvenience of it), but I actually thought it was pretty good.
If not a little bit insane - but all the best films usually are...
With regards to the t-shirt, I agree with dance4life. She looks like a smug, pretentious little cowhand to me.
... No, I don`t read the stupid books.
Team `doesn`t give a poo either way`, ftw!
your not fooling anybody lauryn. you own the dvd, i would put money on it.
If you don`t get the reference, you`ve likely never known what a vampire is.
And no, Twilight does not count for the multiple obvious reasons.
feeds it or not, i enjoy bitching about twilight and will continue to do so as i see fit. anyone who doesn`t like it can ignore me and/or kiss my ass, right, left and in between.
Want to know who it is? Hint: The girl in the picture.
Not the shirt.Not the bewbs.
The fact that people are reading. I don`t really care if you read high literature or junk novellas. Twilight has its place functioning in sort of the way comic books, OSC, and Pratchett did for me as a kid.
Just keep it off the personal attacks for the author. Make the criticisms for the work, not the person behind it. Fact is, they`ve made money, they`ve done something creative, and they`ve succeeded where the (never done) Jacks and (you don`t say) Dicks haven`t.
"it definitely qualifies it as a properly written book."
No. No it does not. Having a degree in writing and having a degree in English are two very different things. And even if she was properly qualified, that doesn`t make her book necessarily good. The book being properly written qualifies it as a properly written book.
I for one am glad she ended the series. Those last few books were painful.
Stay classy, Bram Stoker.
That`s like saying your studied astronomy so that definitely qualifies you to be an astronaut.
Well that is who the book is aimed at. Kids.
It has not plot. The characters do not develop. There is just nothing really going on. It is only for people who are sexually immature, and romantically immature.
But seriously, Twilight is written horribly. It`s mostly dialogue (which proves it was pretty much made to be a movie), there are no literary techniques of any sort... It`s just so boring to read.
I stand in the middle.
Stephenie Meyer was a major in English in college, so she`s not some bum off the street who decided to write down what was in her head.
Now I`m not saying that this automatically makes her book good, but it definitely qualifies it as a properly written book.
