That, or he has small-penis complex and he overcompensates with his computer monitor.

Supposedly, he is using that monitor because it`s an award for the hardest working employee-as if to encourage great work. A worker claimed that it wasn`t good for his eyes.

I have a similar monitor, so do some other guys at work. What`s WRONG with that photo is everyone else struggling with the undersized monitors.

This answers my question about the stupid semi-NSFW labels tagged onto IAB stories!!!

He is probably a gamer, playing Shattered Horizon at work!
Best game ever btw!

Yours in playing Shattered Horizon,
Star*Dagger

That`s not a monitor, its a TV. Look how huge the icons are...

It also looks really bright.

at my last job, the accountant was a blind woman, who had one of these monitors! people would walk into her office and still not know if she was in there or not until she spoke! why did they hire a blind accountant?!? probably one of the reasons why they are closing for good in january!

A) He has vision problems. Although wouldn`t the better/cheaper remedy be getting glasses?

B) He is compensating for something that is small...

It`s definitely for vision issues.

By the size of that window, it looks like he`s got a pretty low resolution for a screen that big. Bit of a waste really as everything will just be stretched.

That said, I`m pretty sure they don`t do a 5000 x 6000 resolution, so yeah...

"A real "geek" would have multiple monitors and not just the one."

How exactly are four monitors better than one really f**king big one with equivalent resolution?

All he has to do is just be careful of what he is looking at, because everyone will be able to also.

I support his decision because, eventually, he`s going to be at home with mom and pop wondering just how anyone knew he was visiting porn sites and playing video games on company time.

ya, but if he already can`t see well, won`t a screen that big, close and bright only make his sight worse?

Yeah, look at the size of the icons in the upper left. There`s a guy at my workplace with really, really bad eyesight and they bought him two gi-normous monitors so he can do work. He sits with his face like inches away from them, just like this guy.

Although bankers do use big screens, such screens are usually high resolution.

by the look of this image, that is a TV, So it probably has a resolution of 1920x1080 or less. You can get 15" Monitors with such resolution, you;d be better off with 3 of them...

Bankers very often have giant screens and/or multiple ones, the amount of data that is usually displayed requires it.

We have 46 inch monitors on desks in our office as the amount of data they are required to display becomes unreadable on smaller screens. They are not anyone`s workstation but you could still get this sort of photo (if my work wasn`t so top secret that taking a camera into the office would result in death). What`s worse is that 2 people in my team have 5+ screens on their desks. That is a bit over the top in my opinion.

It`s the employee of the month, he was the first and last. The next guy couldn`t stand sitting that close to the screen.

Just saw this on stumbleupon

"In 2005 I was working for a "telemarketing" firm somewhere on the east coast. Morale was so bad at the company, management went to great lengths to keep people that actually worked hard. One of the ways they did this was a short lived but highly entertaining award for "Employee of the Month". The employee was treated to answering calls from a "special" desk with a "42" monitor. Here is the first and last employee of the month winner. The next months` winner could not go more than two days with the XL monitor stating his "retinas were getting burned out by the the screen".
