Man I loved the N-64 I`ve been looking everywhere trying to find one lately. I would trade my 360 or PS3 for one and a copy of Super Mario 64 :-P

I was born in the 5th generation, but I grew up with the 3rd and 4th generation.

As a videogame nerd/gamer, I think this is awesome to the 10th power. Even if they missed some things.

I grew up in the 5th Generation but I`m still living in the 3rd - 5th Generation in the sense I still regularly play N64 and my NES although I do have a 360. I much prefer older games though.

I started playing on third generation consoles, but my first console would have been the fifth (N64). Those were the days...

I was lied to. There was a game before Pong. D-:

Aww... I miss my Sega Genesis. Earthworm Jim and the original Sonic games were awesome.

Also, yes the dreamcast was the better system, but PS had the better marketing at first, and therefore funding for (better) games later.

"We weren`t even born yet when the first system debuted and look at technology now!"

Erm... that makes it less amazing, not more.

"The first rock debuted before we were born and look at technology now!" "Rudimentary tools were invented before we were born and look at technology now!"

It would be MORE amazing if it was in our lifetime, not prior to it.

What?? No ColecoVision? My friend had one. It was as "ahead of its time" as the Dreamcast was.

Anyway, I started with Pong, don`t know what happened to it. I still have my Atari 2600, NES, N64, PS2, XBOX, and now XBOX 360.

there is nothing wrong with newer games or computer gaming, but nothing can top the oldies when it comes to arcade gaming. I can sit and play galaga, pac-man, centipede, etc for hours at an arcade, but not many newer console games make it to the arcade. for example, you wouldn`t sit at an arcade playing COD/MW2/Halo for hours; but racing games still fit quite well....man I miss pole position.

I`m a vintage gamergirl, I was a gamer before "gamer girl" was even a term. I was playing Atari (Pong, Joust, Journey - the game!)when I was a wee thing, had a C-64 (Questron, and Battletech:Crescent Hawk`s Inception! <3) and a Nintendo (Faxanadu,Zelda etc) as a kid, graduated to a super Nin (Earthbound!), and gameboy (So-many-rpgs...), and played crudloads of Sega games (Rpg`s again) as well, my mom got an IBM (Ok, who remembers Loom?) and well rinse repeat every few years (Nin64, GBA, ps2) slightly better PC`s, consoles and handhelds(ok, i never had the actual Gamecube, but I had an emulator with crudloads of bootleg games... does that count?) These days its just my blazin PC (I update yearly), a PDA and a PS3. I`ve slowed down a bit. I never got the Xbox360, and my Ps3 is mostly for blurays anyway since I do mainly MMO`s (Fallen Earth atm) and they suck the everlovin life out of me.
No Handhelds like the Psp or Nintendo Dsi. How sad. :(

My brother still has his Dreamcast, SNES, N64, PS1, and Gameboy. I think he had a Genesis and Atari too. Probably the earliest game system I ever got was a PS1...err yeah. I also had a Gameboy color...it was purple. I kinda wish I could remember what happened to it. I always played Megaman on my brother`s system...I think it was like an SNES or N64 for that one. It`s still probably my favorite game series of all time.

youngdz, dreamcast was kickass and i remember playing games on the memory card. it was the most underrated system of all time.
ikeray, god, i wanted a nomad so bad, but neither of my parents would buy it for me because i already had genesis at the time.

Go Nintendo and Paper Mario! I still have my N64 and 3 Gameboys, 1 is B&W and the other 2 are color xD

I really miss the Sonic game for the Dreamcast. I loved that game.

We got a Pong game for Christmas in the early `70s--actually probably middle `70s because we wouldn`t have been able to afford one before the prices came down--and we played so much on Christmas Day that I went to bed with the noises and the pattern burned into my eyes and ears. GAAAH!! *doonk* *dit* *donk*

Wow, I can only relate to fifth generation onwards. Crash Bandicoot 3, first videogame I ever played, and I`ve never looked back. Such good memories of playing my PS1 and Dreamcast, it makes me feel quite nostalgic.

Some of us "were born yet". You young punks with your fast roadsters and your rumble seats have no historical perspective. I remember the first time I played Pong.

Superlink Ocarina of time was not as influential as the original Legend of Zelda. Although it was good game. I remember everything from the Atari 2600 on, and yes the Dreamcast was a kick but system but its downfall was that is was to advanced for its day and the coding needed for the games was hellaious to do at that time plus you had to have a specific coding from Sega to make it work (buddy of mine does gameing coding)

most underrated console - dreamcast. anyone who owned one knows how awesome they were. hell the memory cards in themselves had games so you could carry them around and play.

also, they missed the release of the nomad, another sega product. it was a handheld that used genesis cartridges, backlit screen like the game gear, but you could connect it to the TV and it turned into a console. you could also plug in another controller and play 2 players. best console ever as it was essentially a portable console with mobile capabilities.

my first system was TI-99 (see pic). I believe it took atari games, but I was so little I don`t remember correctly.

I was playing NES when I was ~3, I even taught my mom at the age of 4 how to play mario.

does it surprise anyone that superlink00 is upset that ocarina of time" wasnt on the list? but serious"ly superlink00, they put up the original "legend of zelda" so there was no need to have a sequal. besides, there was only one other sequal on the list.

Strange, I didn`t see Ocarina of Time anywhere on that list. You`d think such an influential game would get some kind of mention.

its fun reading the history. the year i was born was a kickass year for video game classics. also, did anyone else notice that "virtua fighter" was released in 1993 and 1994 according to this chart?

Brings back memories it does. I remember when arcades only had pool tables and pinball machines. When the first video games showed up no one really played them at first cause we were all still trying to beat the high scores on the pinball.

the 1st game system i ever played was a black box, about the size of my keyboard(just standard keyboard)it has 2 big knobs on each side that each of 2 players controlled.it played pong and that was it. and just 2 prove that people make crap nowadays,i played it today just for the memories.i can only play it on my really old black and white tv because of the hook up it needs. i imagine i can buy an adaptor somewhere for it tho.and its still fun! P.S. im 36, and my parents got the system sometime in late 60`s they think. ;-]

This takes me back...way back...I can`t tell you how many nights in college were spent with Super Nintendo and four-way Mario Kart races. It was so amazing at the time...still a favorite.

And I still have my Atari 2600! My 5-year-old kid plays a plug-and-play version of Pac-Man and Dig Dug, I want to start him out on Atari before he works his way up to Playstation.

What about the computers of the 1980s which were used solely for playing games, like the Spectrum 48K, Commodore 64, BBC Micro and the all time classic ZX81?

This is pretty misleading, the technology in thing like the Wii and the DS isn`t a new generation; it`s an old generation repackaged.
