I love foamy, but disagree with the rant. Our country was founded on religious freedom. So for schools to support a religious holiday, goes against the founding fathers beliefs. But looking around, we are a far cry from our original values and morals and freedoms. Now, if your not christian, your not american. How is that freedom? I dispise republicans, but they speak one truth, our freedom is being stripped away daily.

floaton: Actually, the founding fathers wanted to practice Christianity as they pleased, not as the King saw fit--note the line in the Pledge "one nation, under God". So Christianity played a big role in the founding of this nation.

No one is saying "if you`re not Christian, you`re not American"---the only people who think that are the extremists who try to shove their views onto everyone else. But frankly, our freedom to worship as we please is not being stripped away daily.

If you don`t like living here, then by all means move to a different country where you cannot disagree with the government for fear of getting killed, or where there is no stable government to speak of and the country is in a constant war.

The US isn`t perfect and has never claimed to be. But by God, we are better off than millions of other people out there living in oppressive countries.

So shut up about how our rights are being stripped away.

    Right on, PsychGeek.

Christmas is a christian holiday so it is an infringement on their rights to be prevented from being able to sing religious holiday songs. As for school; as long as no child is forced to go to the Christmas pageant then no one is being controlled - so all who are part of different religions are not forced to participate in one religion.

Floaton, if you are referring to the fact that Christmas is EVERYWHERE this time of year and need SOMEONE to blame, don`t blame the people, blame the businesses that celebrate Christmas for a fourth of a year so that they can profit as much as possible from it.

I know many people of many religions, and they don`t care at all that this country has so many people who celebrate Christmas in it. Just because the Majority celebrates Christmas, doesn`t mean that the rights of the minority are eschewed. That is actually the opposite from one of the phrases that our country is founded upon: "Majority rules, but the RIGHTS of the

I agree with everyone who says that Christmas should be allowed in schools and to be celebrated en masse. I mean honestly, if people are crying about equality due to the `biased` decision of schools to have Christmas pageants as opposed to Jewish pageants or Hindu pageants, then think of all the other things we have to change too.

Black history month? Where`s the asian history month? Where`s the indian history month? Where`s the Siberian history month? Where`s the persian history month? Unfair I tell you! We shouldn`t celebrate black history month unless we`re going to do one for everyone else too!

Also, what`s the deal with Valentine`s day? I`m not catholic you son of a bitch! How dare you try to devote a day to a catholic saint without MY permission as a non-catholic? I declare that we either have a Moses day and an Abraham day, or NO day!!

Don`t even get me STARTED on Thanksgiving. Those goddamned Puritan bastards.

Foamy!! I feel like I`m in grade 10 <3 Awesome!

And boys got the point right dammmit! How about I`m offended when YOU are offended by someone saying Merry Christmas!

Seriously! It`s a just a nice gesture. I celebrate Christmas but would I be offended by someone telling me Happy Kwanzaa or Happy Hanukkah? NO, I say thank you! You too, because in the end it all means the same thing. Have a Happy Holiday, that`s all. Not "Please convert to my religion" not " kill the infidel" dang nabbit!

Hell, even when someone comes through my till and says "God Bless You" I`m not offended, I merely say thank you because it`s the right way to react to someone wishing you well, regardless of religion. DANG!

This isn`t Foamy coming back - it`s several years old.

Since I approve of the seperation of church and state, I`m in favour of keeping religion out of state things, like schools, council buildings, etc.

You want the state taking part in a secular midwinter festival? Fine, it`s traditional. Just take the religion out of it.

You want a religious festival? Fine, enjoy yourself. Just don`t get the state involved in it.

And while you`re at it...if you`re Christian, you`ve got the wrong date and the wrong religions. However you dress it up, you`re celebrating Saturnalia and the Feast of the Invincible Sun. Traditional Roman religion (Saturnalia) and the Romano-Persian version of Mithraism (Feast of the Invincible Sun).

I don`t care if there`s Christian bollucks this time of year. So long as they include Hanuka, Kwanza, and whatever the heck else goes on for the winter solstice, I`m not offended.

Oh, and so long as they stop trying to convert me. I swear, this year I`ve come across like five people trying to convert me. ITS DECEMBER 9TH. This is going to be a LONG, LONG MONTH.

Dang, Angilion. I think Foamy might be talking about you.

He`s kinda right about schools. I didn`t even know about other religions until We had to read excerpts of their "holy books" in class, but we never did as such with the bible. I think it`s religinist, lol.
