They should market this as "Unbreakable Humpty Dumpty" That would make more sense I feel.

eww at 2:40 I seen robot guts. XD

But in all seriousness this just needs the right direction and understanding. Firstly the head is out of shape and shouldn`t really glow (harder then you think when using an image projection method).

Why is this good and why make it? Well it could be a great doll for children which creates wealth and economic success. It could also be used as a teaching aid for nurses and practicing medicine, new parents, adopting families and the list goes on.

Oh it was at Siggrapgh this year. I really should go to more of thier events.

It`s not an actual robot baby. It is basically an experiment with different types of technologies and how they can be used together to create an experience. To say this is just a creepy robot baby is missing the entire point of what it really is.

why is its only function being poked in the face, and making the slightest facial expressions? common japan! even McDonalds makes better video games then this. you`re falling behind.

I know how real babies loved to be poked in the face while trying to sleep too!

I guess it`s somekind of pre-baby preperation kit? Or an answer to all those japs who wants to marry their comupter games or dolls.

There`s so much that comes to mind all at the same time I have a hard time deciding...

..but ultimately, what makes them think this is a good idea?! I really .. really .. wish I could read jap for once.

Anyone ever read that creepypasta story about the babydoll that would start crying nonstop and had to be hit against walls?

The glowing is appropriate... considering it looks like some freakish bloated nuclear fallout baby.

Pah, those people just want a baby that they can unplug when it starts crying... Which is quite understandable.

"Matwix-Nidonemo - the only thing I can think of would have been to help introduce a `realistic` baby into an expectant (or trying) couples life..."

Yeah I thought that too but then the video said "Prizes" and then all the diagrams of the equipment, it seemed way too complicated to sell to the public.

This is just a creepier, squishyer glowing tamagotchi. I`m not being funny, but there are kids toys that have pretty much been doing, what this football-with-a-face is doing now, for years. I had one.

It shat on my bed.

And it actually looked like a baby.

Or perhaps for those baby classes you go to.
I doubt it`d be for a kids doll...it looks a little too high-tech for that.

Well it`s obvious a ton of work went into making this robot, but I wonder what the reasoning behind it was.
