Deer Hunter About To Get His Comeuppance [Pic]

Mr. Deer Hunter, just seconds before he felt a set of razor-sharp teeth sunk into the back of his neck.

I see a bunch of people in this thread that would probably die within a week if they couldn`t get food from their local supermarket. You do know that the precious animals you`re crying over being killed, kill other animals as well, right? It`s the natural way of things, kill to survive. Even if you`re a vegetarian you`re killing living things and eating them (plants).

The world isn`t getting weak, it IS weak. People don`t know how to survive anymore and delude themselves into believing that civilization will always be here to take care of them; it won`t, and anyone who can`t take care of themselves will be naturally weeded out of the equation.

I don`t car if you hunt or not, but there`s nothing cool about flaunting something you`ve just killed. It`s not like you killed it in a fight or anything, it just means you can aim a gun. I love meat, don`t get me wrong, but when you take pictures of yourself smiling by a dead thing covered in blood, it`s disgusting.

Demon curtain: Yeah the look on the hunters face really says` i`m actually helping the deer species by lowering the population`
Its cruel. we have no business messing with nature.

im a hunter... i have a freezer full of deer meat in order for us to get that we must hunt
the worlds getting weak were animals we must kill other animals to survive.. you may just go to the store and buy it but someone did kill it

We`re arguing hunting. It doesn`t take someone who`s been around the Sun eighteen times to do that. Are my opinions considered invalid and erroneous until I`ve reached 18? And I`m sorry, the community of this site probably is averaging around 12 years old. You`re a moron if you`re looking for sophisticated and logical debaters here.

ggbolez: Nature does have a way of evening things out; it`s called famine. Without hunting overpopulation takes off to such a level that the deer simply starve to death.

Another issue: CWD. Many jurisdictions offer hunting seasons that exist specifically to thin the heard to stop the spread of epidemics in the natural community such as Chronic Wasting Disease.

Both starvation or CWD are far more painful for the animal than being killed by a hunter.

The issue is that many hunters take it upon themselves to kill fawns, or kill deer as trophies. They are not stewards of the land as all hunters _should_ be.

Also, you say that "taking a life is taking a life;" nothing more, nothing more. Well, unless you`re a vegetarian you`ve got no right to talk. There`s little difference, given that rigid argument, between shooting a deer and killing a cow for food.

I prefer the idea of hunting over the idea of slaughterhouses.

I`m personally against hunting. The classic rebuttal is "over population". But nature has a way of balancing itself out, it takes care of that problem one way or another. The inhumane hunting of animals should never be accepted in our modern society, unless you will in fact starve.

Taking a life, is taking a life. You can try to dress it up as much as you want, but that`s what it is. If you must, do it with dignity and put it down with as little pain as possible.

Joey, it`s not just women who are disturbed by hunting being a leisure pursuit.

Killing for food is one thing. I`m vegetarian myself, but I have no problem with the choices other people make. I wear leather protective motorcycle gear, and I don`t shun medicines that have been tested on animals (which, by the way, is ALL of them).

But to kill for recreation, rather than to satisfy a need, disturbs me. But I`m not going to fight against it; if it`s still going to satisfy a need (for food, or just to control population numbers, etc), then I don`t see why people can`t enjoy themselves doing it, even if I find it personally abhorrent.

Of course, then the women show up and post comments saying its so cruel and saying how evil he is, but the meat they buy in the supermarket is from animals that were bred to be slaughtered. And for the most part, live in tiny spaces until they grow to a certain age then they`re chopped up for meat.

and davymid, I don`t mean everyone is the same around here but there are a few people who need to learn to read threads before they respond to random comments in isolation. Then there are a few others who just go with personal insults instead of the debates. I pushed a little and had an idea, I probably took it way to far but I wasn`t really expecting people to keep arguing points way after the game was up. oh well. At least maybe some people might learn to think a bit more. As for Salty - I salute your random insults and attempt (very nearly successful) to troll the troll. :D

davymid - I`ve made lots of posts making points, I just pushed a little bit on this one to get the reaction I`ve come to expect on this site. The point I was trying to make is this: people on this board don`t read the threads, make huge assumptions about the people they`re responding to and often spout racist / prejudiced / sexist / homophobic etc etc views. Yeah I trolled on this one, and admitted it, I`m sorry I broke the rules but I think I showed up some of the people on this site for what they really are: ignorant. They don`t even read what`s in front of them before replying.

Waffle, the very definition, I`m afraid, of trolling. Look, if you have a point to make then cool, but if you`re only deliberatly pissing others off for kicks then that`s not cool no more. Come on, you know this. I see 364 posts in your month-long membership of the site, no contributed content whatsoever, and a lot of aggravation of other users (including a fair amount of personal insults). Chill out and have some fun man, while not at the expense of getting others pissed off. People come here to get un-bored, not annoyed...

Wow.. this is some debate going on in here. I personally gutted, skinned, de-boned and cut into steaks, stew and roasts about 15-16 mule deer and 40-45 white tail this past hunting season. I have had the pleasure of seeing some shot CLEANLY through the spine or heart and die instantly and others with enough holes in them that the meat is`nt even good for grinding.
The point I`m making is this, there are some hunters that, if they cannot get a "clean" kill they will just let the animal pass. (the responsible hunter).
Then there are are the ones how will take as many shots as the can, while the condemed creature is running for its life. (the irresposible hunter).
Most hunters DO NOT fit into this catagory. Mot, as myself, are very conservation minded. We have to be because our livelyhoods depend on it.

What do you think the spear is? It is an evolution from the first ever projectile weapon...a rock. It was designed to allow greater accuracy as well as greater killing power over a rock. The bow and arrow was a logical upgrade over the spear to allow greater distance as well as accuracy.

Guess what the next evolution in projectile weapons was? If you guessed the gun then you are absolutely correct.

So why can my ancestors use an upgraded weapn but I can`t :-(

Fatninja01: I would like to give you a farm so you can go ahead and raise your own food. But you will not be allowed to kill any of the deer that will fornicate like rabbits, multiply like bacteria and destroy your entire crop year after year, thus endangering your well being.

Look you ignorant waste of life, most often than not, deer are in season to be hunted in order to keep the population down in a land where they don`t have enough predators to keep up with their spawn rate. So hunters tend to make a sport of it, I mean they may as well... it does actually take a bit of skill to kill a deer. It`s not just point click and shoot.

Oh, and for the record, I don`t hunt... I couldn`t stand killing the things. But I am educated and see the need for it. Unlike yourself.

@shunpo 31: Nature was taking care of things until we killed off all the deers` natural predators. It`s not the starving to death I`m worried about- that IS nature taking care of things- it`s the fact that deer are more likely to wind up killing people when more of them start wandering onto roads in search of food. I know several people who`ve had their cars totalled in that way and one person who died in such an accident. Hunting does indeed prevent this from occurring as often as it could.

I personally hate eating meat. I also don`t have anything against people hunting..for food. I do however, hate seeing meat in a super-market. Most of the time, those animals were mistreated in some way or form. Overfeeding them to make them bigger etc. Come to think of it, there wouldn`t be much of a obese population if we had to go hunt our food down. Can you imagine what would happen to the 600lb people if they couldn`t just order a burger?

Kittyloaf- there`s a pretty damn long precedent set of one species eating another, so give that poo up.

However- the conditions on factory farms are atrocious, and there`s absolutely no reason that eating meat should mean subjecting animals (or the people who work on those farms) to such abject misery. It is possible to raise meat humanely.

And you know the most humane way to get meat? Hunting. The animal gets to live a free and natural life until they are taken out by a predator- the way deer and many other animals have lived their lives for millions of years.

I also have no problem with eating meat but I do have a problem with how commercial meat is raised .It is heart breakingly cruel so if you eat meat you should try and buy local cruelty free and free range meats .They taste a hell of a lot better too .Luckily where I live I have access to fresh moose caribou and buffalo all the time .

As Silverthread says, we need to hunt to thin out the deer population. If you allow them to overpopulate, not only will lots of them starve to death during winter, but you`ll wind up wearing a deer as your hood ornament after you plow into it when it darts out in front of your car on the way home from dinner.

We eat meat. Most of us do, anyway.

The number of hunting licenses that are issued each year, for each species, is determined by the amount of "excess" of that species. It helps to cull an "overpopulation problem which can result in animals starving to death etc. at the very least. Plus the money collected goes to supporting wildlife.

I am not a hunter, but hunting is a good thing to help us and animals, cohabitate.

Don`t confuse good, conscientious hunters, with beer swilling, gun firing morons.

I take it your a vegan. Do you bathe because most soaps are derived from animal fat not to mention odds are your using or wearing something from an animal and don`t even know it. As for canibalism aside from possibly murdering people it`s been shown to cause something named "kuru" that has some similarities to mad cows disease.

ah so it`s fair if you keep them in a little shed / field and locked up in cages but not if they can run away from you? hmmm. Also what do you think venison is?

If i went outside, killed my neighbor, and ate him, I probably would be arrested. But we can do that to animals. The holocaust was bad, but burger king isnt? wtf, that makes no sense.

Yeah, and if I were to join it would make it EVEN MORE AWESOME. But alas my stance on meat is that I eat it, some of my friends don`t, and I`m a pansy and don`t think I could actually kill it myself. Not controversial enough, I`m afraid.

The one with the antlers, in the foreground, is a daddy deer, the one in the backgrund is a mommy or baby deer. The background animal is not an `orphan` unless a doe (mommy deer) was killed as well...

WhoaHeyDude - survival of the fittest? I never played that card and I`m 6"3 and 160 pounds so I`m pretty fit, also I`m having chillie for tea.

Back to the point: you think the slaughterhouse is fair to the cow then? You think McDonalds is humane to the lettuce? We eat living things to survive, usually we kill them first. Your argument is BS. Go for a week without eating or using any product that required the death of a plant or animal. We`ll get a medium to do find out the results. If more people went out to kill and cook their own food we wouldn`t have to put up with the governments of the world patronizing us with stupid "how to get your 5 a day" adverts.

As long as you kill to eat - not for the joy of killing, you kill quickly and cleanly, then what is your problem? Most of the meat you buy in the shop has had a pitiful existence, full of extreme stress and often pain. We eat too MUCH meat in most 1st world countries, too much food generally. Perhaps if we had to hunt our dinner whenever needed to eat we would be less wasteful.

Yeah, you missed my point. You`re right, that`s how we evolved. Meaning, that`s what it took to evolve. Meaning, we WERE animals while we we`re doing that..but then we evolved from it. Don`t play the drating survival of the fittest, it`s just nature poo. You`re sittin at home on a god damn computer, surfing the internet, most presumably in a heated home, probably snacking on some cheetos and poo. Survival of the fittest, huh?

You think the stores just magically get those meat into their freezers? Someone has to go out in the wild and kill them. Why pay for it anyways when you can hunt your own and save some money for bills and other things?

WhoaHeyDude - bullsh-t you totally missed the point. You, like all humans, are animal. You evolved by surviving. By killing things that were dangerous and eating whatever you could find. Don`t play that "I buy my food from the shops so that`s ok" something still died to make that food in the shop.

It says they like fresh food that hasn`t been through a supermarket.

"is it fair that an alligator can camo in with the water and sneak attack a buffalo that`s merely trying to get a drink?"

That`s basically the definition of fair. The alligator is using nothing more than what it was born with to SURVIVE. Actually, yeah, there are many stores you can go to to get fresh venison. And oh yeah, the difference is the damn alligator can`t pull out his wallet, run down to one of those stores, and buy himself some nice buffalo meat. We`re not wild animals, that`s the best part about being human, we can survive. Don`t get me wrong, if I were ever in a situation where I was lost in the wild and needed to survive, I`d be able to pop a deer and eat. There`s no need for it as a sport, regardless of what you do with the meat. Can`t afford to feed your family? Get a better job, or think ahead before having kids next time. Leave the poor animals out of it. Eat something that is domesticated and bred for food.

"How would this picture be different if it were a puma chewing on the deer instead of a human?"

Well for one, I don`t see a reason why the human would be chewing on raw deer. Unless they didn`t get any cooking lessons from their parents. Which is another story. :P

lol deer are such stupid animals. i have shot plenty of deer from a herd before and more often than you would think a few just hang out with no idea what is going on. then by law if you tag the deer you just shot those standing around are fair game(if you have the proper tags of course). so i really hope this guy had a doe tag because that doe in the background looks delicious.

and i am sure they were happily in love, since ya know deer are monogamous and there is not a time of year where they just screw everything they can than take a year off after that. there just such, kind, emotional, sensitive, creatures.

well i did it, i made myself hungry talking about deer, i think ill have some venison for dinner.

Well seeing as how we`ve successfully killed off most of the predatory species in the lower 48 it`s up to us to take their place and regulate herd animal populations.

How would this picture be different if it were a puma chewing on the deer instead of a human? It`s survival of the fittest.

For what it`s worth I will say that I don`t care much for trophy hunting. It always seems too much like an effort at compensation.

Good luck to the doe, if she want`s to keep breathing though she`d better haul ass.

"but he could have just as easily gone to the store and bought something."

Not tasty, fresh venison. & Reign, is it fair that an alligator can camo in with the water and sneak attack a buffalo that`s merely trying to get a drink? Nature isn`t fair, why should we try to be? A gun is much more humane than an arrow, anyway. Even if he hit the deer in the chest with an arrow, it might not have enough force to go all the way into the heart, then the poor thing would just be stumbling around in pain.

I have no problem with hunting, as long as it`s fair. Give him a bow & arrow. And not one of those fancy ones either, has to be a bow made of a treebranch...and arrows made of...asparagus. Yes, that sounds alot more fair. Now let`s see you truly hunt something!

Just sayin..if the dude can afford hunting equipment, a camera, and means to get out to where he is, he doesn`t NEED to hunt for food. He may eat it and not let it go to waste, but he could have just as easily gone to the store and bought something. Clearly he enjoys what he does, judging by the smile on his face, and the fact that he`s posing with the body of the dead animal. just sayin.

Hmmm...how sure are you guys that he didn`t kill it for food? My dad was an avid deer hunter and during deer season that is all we had for meat in our house. Deer burgers, steak, jerkey, sausage, etc...

We saved a lot of money on food during deer season which helped more than just our family. He would give some of the meat to the residents of our neighborhood who could not afford to buy food all the time.

As for those who hunt deer as a sport, the meat is still used to feed people even if they themselves do not eat it. Most of them donate the meat to the community or give it to friends and family members who may need or want it.

Deer hunting is actually necessary for some areas as the deer will over populate and cause disease and famine amongst themselves which could wipe them all out instead of a few dozen.

This is no different than a lion killing an antelope or gazelle for their pride. Nature creates predators for reasons of culling out some of the herd. It ensures a great

I have no problems with animals being killed for a good reason, for food for example. But killing a deer just for no reason is sick in my opinion.
But I live in another culture, in Holland, so maybe I just don`t get Americans...
