Notice how none of these had any backward letters or anything that "sterotypes" childrens writings.

@Kaleotera

Religion isn`t the only way to gain good morals. Just the most corrupt and damaging way.

Who were you kidding? You know these people have nothing better to do other than find something wrong with anything and b*tch and moan about it. More than half the people here are heartless sons of b*tches. You have to be prepared for anything.

People do not have to be raised in a religious home to learn morality saying something like that is ridiculous Kaleotera .
Davy, are you really that Naive? "Not another religious flamewar"?
I know. I was hopeful that the childish innocence of these notes (which brought a genuine smile to my face, at least) would over-ride the flame instinct. Unfortunately my optimism was unfounded. I should know this place better by now.

*sigh*

@ ggolbez: Apparently you were not raised in a household that practiced a religion. I was and I can tell you what I took from that.
Morals. Plain and simple, it taught me to be a good person. I am not longer a practicing Catholic, but I remember what I learned as a child and try to be a good person.
If more people learned morality at a young age, maybe...just maybe we would all be better people.

Now before anyone decides to twist my words, I don`t think I am better then anyone. I just try to be who I am.

Also, some of these were awesome.

"If you give me Aladdin`s lamp I`ll give you anything you want except my money or my chess set" is my favorite. :)

2) Ggolbez: Religion has been shown to have the absolute opposite effect on children to child abuse: Link to study.

ggolbez - You`re self righteous banter is lost here. Let it go, relax and just take it for what it is. If these were Dear Santa letters, it wouldn`t be such a big deal but since it apparently hits a button with you, it becomes a lightning rod for your ire. Just because one person doesn`t believe or think the way you do does not make them any less of a person. Remember that tolerance is for ALL not just those who think alike.

Ggolbez, I think you`re being a bit harsh. These are only children, at that age I really don`t think believing in God does any harm. When I was young, I believed in God, I never went church, but I was taught about Bible stories and Jesus in primary school. I`m glad my mother (who doesn`t believe in God either) told me that my grandma went to heaven when she died, it made me feel much better than if she told me she was actually rotting in a hole. And I`m glad I was taught that there was someone loving looking over me, it always made me feel good. I don`t believe in God anymore, I just naturally figured out my own reasons why not, but it`s easy for children to believe.

I know there are some people who take it very seriously, and really do "brainwash" children, using Hell as a way to get them to behave and such. But it`s mostly harmless, and these notes are quite sweet. My little neice is five, and she loves telling me the story of baby Jesus, it`s sweet.

ggolbez, why do you have to ruin something so true and pure with hasty bitterness and irresponsible disdain? Damn some of you people on here are immature emo`s. It`s the religious nuts that say we`ll burn for eternity...so smile, for the love of God.

"Sad to see so many young minds already indoctrinated, but still, ignoring that, those were some really dratin cute letters, lol",

Don`t worry, any of them with any intelligence will grow out of it like they do Santa, the tooth fairy or any other fictional character.

some of these were just priceless. Probably my top two were

"if you watch in church on Sunday, I will show you my new shoes" and "Thank you for the baby brother but what I prayed for was a puppy"

I also liked the "must be tough to love everyone" but yeah all of them were pretty funny.

Ah the unspoiled minds of children, why do they have to grow up and become whiney teenagers then disaffected adults and then grrumpy old bastards?

Praying accomplishes nothing, but makes you feel like you`re doing something. It is the stupidest thing ever. And these children (if it is children writing these), are being led to believe that somebody is watching over them all the time. And if they are bad then they will burn for all eternity. If that isn`t child abuse I don`t know what is.
