It is so f-cking weird to hear people say they were born in the year 2000 and not know things I knew at age ten.
Ahhh! I`m an antique!

Oh, my, god, the dial-up sound..... so loud!
Heh... "Bloody Mary`s just a drink."

I wish everyone saying these kids are stupid the best of luck with their future life. These kids are 9, thats a lot younger than you think. I`ve got a 10 year old brother and it amazes me with how little he knows.
Seriously what did these kids say that was stupid?

we got our first computer when i was like 4, and all i did on it was play doom. We didn`t get AOL until I was 7. When I was a kid we spent most of our time outside riding bikes and exploring the woods by my house. Kids these days are lazy and spoiled. I didn`t get a phone until I was 16 and had a job. I didn`t get a ipod until I was 19. And I miss my walkman

Holy poo.
Okay, my first gripe, did you notice there was only like two white kids? I know this is America and were all accepting, but I`m just not used to seeing a whole AMERICAN classroom that`s not filled with mostly white kids.

SECOND! About global warming, one kid said something about the "4 R`S" Then went on to say "Reuse.. Um.. I forgot the other two." Okay, buddy. 1+2 DOES NOT equal 4.

Our schools suck!

Age 7: Sega
Age 9: Playstation
Age 12: School Computors
Age 15: Home Computor
Age 16: Discovered the joys of the net

Technology for me! Still it doesn`t really bug me that a 9 year old is younger then me. What bugs me is that 30 is only 9 years away...

These kids were born during the computer age, and they can all very well read by this age, I`m surprised that they don`t know more at this point. Spend an hour on Wikipedia and you may have soaked up the equivalent of 4 hours of old-school library encyclopedia time, let alone youtube and all that other rubbish.

The fact that they have cellphones and iPods is also not a very soothing thought, what to they need their own music for when there`s perfectly fine radio to be listened to...

Kids these days...

OK - I had to do it. I asked my 5-year-old some of these questions. Here is what he said:

Who is Barack Obama?
He is the president.
(My kid didn`t say anything about being the first black president, just "the president")

What was the biggest news story of your lifetime?
When Michael Phelps won all the gold medals.

Who is the biggest celebrity in the world?
Spongebob.
No, real person, not a cartoon.
Oh. Barack Obama.
Are you saying that because I just asked about him?
Yes.

What is your biggest fear?
A Great White Shark

Well, I think it comes as no surprise to anyone that kids these days have no recognition of Britney Spears` music. Did anyone really think she would pass the test of time? And yet, my 5-year-old kid can name all four Beatles, all six of the Grateful Dead (during the Brent Mydland years), and knows Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley on sight. We are working on Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, the Doors, and whatever else I think he should be into. Don`t worry, he has no idea who the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus are. Because, in 4 years, NOBODY will know who they are.

Can`t wait to show him Grandpa`s vinyl records.

"theses kids are not just young there are kind of stupid as well..." Oh, the Irony.

Yes, this made me feel old...
I remember my family`s first computer. I started using it around the age of 4; had aol dial up until 99; dsl until 2005. I got my first phone right after 9/11 because my parents were scared.
I still have my Sega Genesis that is oddly more fun than most games are today...

My aunt still uses dial-up. But they didn`t mention other stuff like Disney movies and 90`s TV shows. I`ve been around since `92. It`s a shame how many little girls will love Disney princesses but never see the movies....Once I do all my years for P.E., they declare that P.E. is all of a sudden "wavable" if you take certain classes that can replace P.E. they`re also taking away recess. FREAKING RECESS!!! I feel sorry for the next generation...

I`m not sure whether it`s because of their generation or because of their age.

If it`s their age, that`s fine. If it`s their generation, I`m going to slap the world across the face.

Still hoping it`s the age.

Ah, this definitely succeeded in making me feel old haha. These kids are lucky though, I wish I was born in 2000. They pretty much got a free pass on having to wait through a bunch of advancing technology.

Then again THEY`LL NEVER PLAY FINAL FANTASY X OR KINGDOM HEARTS (most likely) SO HA.

The video editing was annoying... Fade in a picture, cut to black as soon as it`s up. It almost hurt to look at.

I`m 16 and this made me feel old... I remember the dial-up sound and 9/11 (that was 3rd grade). And what is it with 9 year olds and Chucky? That scared me back when I was 9 or so, and I never even saw the movie back then.

I feel real old!

My parents had to endure using a party line.
I was born in 1989 and I remember in 1994 watching my dad on his computer. The first internet I knew was webTV, and you still got that dialup sound. And then a couple years later, AOL!
I wasn`t really aware of major world events when I was nine. I was more focused on Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Britney, Christina, Mandy, etc.
Those were the days.

It`s remarkable how children can absorb loads of information in a 9-year term. Their knowledge of culture seems to be enriched more thoroughly than my generation. I`m not quite sure what the impact of digital augmentation of our cognitive spectrum will have on the future development of society. If it is true that more and more will be generalized and trivialized, maybe we ought to spend more time contemplating what methods will be best to teach these little guys insight and how to reason, one way or another.
