It is really a shame. Anyone who has made it at the very least, up to the 6th grade should know the differences between all of these words. Typos happen, especially when you are typing out your thoughts quickly, but really everyone should know this.

I used to be guilty of `alot` I used to be guilty of a lot of these actually. This should be given to all those who download a chat system. Nice little bible for those who seem to fail to grip English grammar. Oh and Buttersisluv is right, `mispelling` is missing an s. The irony is killing me.

The one that really BUGS me is "every day" and "everyday". They are two totally different words/phrases meaning 2 totally different things, and when you see an advert on TV saying "So tune your kids into the ABC`s Kids Education programs everyday", you know that sanity and reason will soon be as extinct as the thylacine.

Actually, they mean "Because we`re all old enough to know better"
if you didn`t catch that they spelled most of the words wrong, read it again.

I`m sorry but it isn`t so much a spelling problem so as misuse of the words....the spelling correct in all the cases it is just a matter of using the wrong words. My biggest peeve out of the bunch would be "then" and "than" ....but a bigger one I see ( especially in dating ads)is ..." I am a free spirited loving WOMEN.....big turn off ...am I dealing with Sybal here ???

I was impressed with the infographics until I realized that people were doing retarded ones, too. People suck at spelling, we know, the only people who read the grammar posts are those who already know how to spell.

A.K.A.: lame.

I love the Oatmeal! Look up how to use an apostrophe. "Bob`s lighning pants were far superior to the soldiers` weapons."

See the clever use of apostrophes there?

Note to my below:

Says: I found myself often wondering
Should be : I often found myself wondering

But I don`t proofread, so meh.

I found the Proper Apostrophe use one MUCH more helpful for the wonderful spellers we find on the internet.

I pride myself on proper grammar and punctuation, so I already knew all of that stuff, except for the possessive name use of an apostrophe. Charles` and Charles`s both being proper acceptable methods of employing the apostrophes, but to be consistent. I found myself often wondering which to use in a situation, so glad to have that cleared up.

Anyways, before anyone tries to go around to find typos in some of my posts to point them out. I don`t care. But it`s VERY noticeable that I make an effort not to completely massacre a language that is so easy to grasp.

Also makes for an easier read for everyone.

@yudontn0me: grey vs gray isn`t a spelling error. It varies upon your region. America vs everywhere else once again.

Female 1,148
I don`t get any of these wrong. And Poofydoom, your boyfriend has a permanent mark of bad grammar on him for the rest of his life. I feel bad for him.
0

Male 20
Unfortunately, yudontn0me, "gray" and "grey" are both perfectly correct, acceptable spellings. That`s like getting your panties in a bunch over "honor" and "honour", another set of perfectly acceptable spellings that simply differ by region of the world.

It`s actually kind of interesting to ponder on the reasons it angers us so much to see spelling mistakes. Do the poeple making them strike us as idiots? If so, do we think they`re dangerous to humanity, or do we just feel superior to them? Or is it just stupid that if a language already exists and has rules, we don`t use it as it should be used? :P
