YOU FOOLS!!!!

A dinosaur eating Jesus!!!!

This is clearly a creationist iconography proving that dinosaurs and humans coexisted. As a sworn evolutionist, I am offended that IAB posted this picture.

PS- Can someone please find a store that sells these???

People shouldnt promote and/or show off their religion like that anyways. Personally, i find those as "the wanna-be`s." Its cool that your christian or whatever, but to boast it is kinda unnecessary, same thing with all religions/ideas/belief.

NPDarren...

You`re admitting you were wrong? On the internet?
Talk about cultural faux pas.

You`re supposed to change the subject, or just say STFU Fag... don`t come in here using your "real world" language with us!

(Seriously though way to make me feel bad for having a go at you. :P)

i think any kind of parody is ok, as long as it is used for fun, and not to attack the other`s ideas.

but people who get offended by it are stupider than the ones doing the parody.

and if that doesn`t convince you, then you should just turn the other cheek, like your master said.

You`re right for criticizing that statement I made. It was only after I read your response that I realized that I was indeed supporting the "two wrongs make a right" idea with that comment.

"Do I think religious parodies are wrong? No.
Does NPdarren? Apparently, but it`s OK because <insert earlier justification here>."

I don`t think parodies of anything are wrong, but are definitely unnecessary if created for the purpose of attacking an idea. Parodies created to poke fun or for humor are perfectly fine, so long as they are not defamatory or slanderish (which I do not think this decal qualifies as). I should have made that assertion instead of shooting myself in the foot with my earlier comment.

Imiaramarie: "I don`t get the point of purposely trying to make fun of other people`s religious beliefs and offend them for no reason at all..."

When it is custom to use a bible in court, when our currency has god written on it, when "we are one nation under god" when a certain religion has nestled itself in political affairs and is the main cause for many peoples rights to be ignored most people won`t take that lightly. I find it slightly offensive that I have to use money that has god on it, but thats a battle not worth fighting or getting worked up. I couldn`t care less. I`m not advocating going around making fun of anyone who holds a Bible, all the power to them for having a belief. But when that belief interferes with my life, that makes me angry. I`m all for the right to display what ever you believe in on your car. I`m tired of being political right a 100% of the time.

baalthazaaq: "P.S. Almost all of science is based on inductive reasoning. "

I agree. I just hadn`t heard the term before.

Metalmorgan : OK the crows are black was straight off the wiki, but c`mon a fully albino raven is a perfect pic for the point at hand.

I don`t get the point of purposely trying to make fun of other people`s religious beliefs and offend them for no reason at all...

It`s quite immature...

not to mention it makes your car look like a piece of trash when you put poo all over it...

In other news, I`m stopping the argument with the biology of labelled fish. I should be working.
0
Reply
Male 4,546
No I didn`t mean philosophically analyzing the two words.

I meant anthropologically. Either these fish have been labelled (suggesting a contained environment), or have been genetically manufactured.

In either case the natural environments of these creatures is irrelevant. :P

Arguments in favor of creationism are effectively inductive, and based on current examples.

The deductive arguments, while sometimes reasonable, rely on priori statements that are unnecessary. This, much to the chagrin of many here I`m sure, still keeps them as valid arguments. It just makes them poor tools for convincing others.

M0rgan:

I`d just like to point out that, evolution, on a small scale, is a fact. You can watch microbes evolve. You can be born with genes not present in either parent due to mutation.

The argument, when it comes to creationism has to be this: Evolution, at some point in history, started to occur.

The argument against creationism is effectively: Evolution, has always occurred.

The argument really only comes down to the beginning.
1) Did God jump start the process?
2) Does God guide the process in any way?

Or if you want it in non theistic terms:
Is the process guided.
Was the beginning point planned.

I see what Baalthazaq is saying,

"My Cat has 4 legs. My Dog has 4 legs. Therefore my dog is a cat."

That pretty much sums up the theory of evolution for me.

KMETG:

The Darwinfish presented by Crakr is clearly an attempt by scientists to genetically manufacture a species. How else do you explain the lettering?

As this is clearly an abomination god then created the Truth fish.

(On a more serious note though, you noticed the implications of the FEET before the TEXT on both fish?)

This is so wrong!

T- rex`s arms were way too short to hold a fish like that! :-)

Anyway Christians have no right to get uppity about the defacement of this symbol. It is a man made symbol and to attach some divinity to it is surely turning it into an idol. Something that Christ and pretty much the whole bible warned against. The same should be said for the crucifix or symbols of the cross.

Why is it that so many people are incapable of distinguishing between a bad argument and a bad conclusion.

"Gravity is correct, I know this because the cheese Doritos are my favourite" -> Idiotic. I will call the person that says this an idiot.

"Gravity is correct" -> Not idiotic. I have no problem with this statement.

Now, when NPdarren says "X is OK because Y" if Y is stupid, I will say so. It has no bearing on X.

In fact, even if X is something I considered stupid, if he has a reasonable Y, I still have no problems with it.

Do I think religious parodies are wrong? No.
Does NPdarren? Apparently, but it`s OK because <insert earlier justification here>.

Thanks guys, as an atheist I have no problem with people believing what they want to believe. Personally I think it`s religion that is stupid, not the religious, except when people think they can refute the life`s work of dozens (if not hundreds or even thousands) of scientists with a few misinformed ideas and ignorant opinions.

We`re all free to interpret the world as we each see fit, but there are some things out there that are just plain wrong.

Just because one has the liberty and freedom to think the flat Earth is the centre of the universe does not mean one should.

Radical minority believers, (e.g. Creationists etc), feel that their backward ideas are constrained and repressed by evil people who seek to maintain control blah-blah, when in fact they are simply repressed by their own idiocy flying in the face of what is obviously fact.

Male 1,265
I`d be careful with that image, CrakrJak. On the one hand, it suggests that Truth defeats Darwin. On the other, it may also suggest that Truth consumes and accepts Darwin, and that Darwin becomes part of the whole of Truth, much like eating communion wafer symbolises accepting Christ.

However, seeing as you`re a conservative Christian from the Midwest US, I`d presume you intend the former interpretation.

Furthermore, the image doesn`t make sense anyway. The Darwin fish has legs which makes it amphibious, most likely living in the shallows or at the edge of a pool, while the Truth fish is much bigger and is completely aquatic, meaning it would have to live further from the edge, which is the habitat of the Darwin fish, and thus it is fairly unlikely that the Truth fish would prey upon the Darwin fish.

Clearly, whoever created this image needs to learn more about biology.

So:
1) Two wrongs DO make a right.
2) A wrong is still ok, if you assume the other group are intending a wrong.
3) A wrong against everyone is acceptable if one of their group offends you in any way, even if they haven`t done it yet?

Cool. I`ll be sending you your Al-Qaeda membership form in the mail.

speaking of fertility; that symbol (the fish) has existed longer than Christianity; it used to mean, well, fertility.
