This clip is a bit longer than most I-A-B posts but the rendering, graphics & animation is some of the best on YouTube.

this is the preview for "Transformers 3". Where Venom turns the jeep into an emo kid and the jeep struts around town like a retard.

@MattPrince

Finally, a Hitchhiker`s-Guide-To-The-Galaxy reference! The problem is, that kind of black would not look like good animation. It would look like car silhouettes.

KekS: Look at the cars in any of those games from the same in-game distance as the close-up shots in this rendering. Make sure to use the same low resolution and view it as a transcoded video using the same lossy compression algorithm as this Youtube video. Then see if the game cars look as realistic.

Its not just about numbers, it was a pretty polished end product sweetly put together. Its got flair baby.

Why does everything have to be so ***** shiny though?

If an Apache has to be black, make it the kind of black "Disaster Area" would fly around in, during their dead phase.

I could talk about Gran Turismo 5 having an average of 200000 polygons per car and Forza Motorsports 3 having about 1000000 and not requiring 110 days of rendering for 5 minutes of gameplay, or NFS:Shift having 70k polygons in the most complex car and still looking better than this or at least equally good. But, since it would generate a sh*tstorm going right at me, I`ll just say:

Meh.

Wow, that is one of the coolest things I`ve seen. I was thinking it started off as a really long but awesome car commercial, because it felt like that. lol

That guy has some really great talent.
wow. amazing work! and 110 days rendering... must be a nice farm to pull it off even in that amount of time.
About 19 minutes rendering per frame, if it was made at 25fps and there was 5m30s of animation.

It`s a shame we don`t know more details, but I think that could be done without a nice farm.

it wont go wasted. This will probably land him a nice job.

Some nice work with dinosaurs here:

Pantural did the graphics, but the film was directed by someone else. Which is probably the best arrangement - Pantural is an artist, not a film maker.

I like the really pretentious part at the 4:00 minute mark where, "Pantural", slowly lists each process and flashes their name slowly and repeatedly.
or this could be next-gen gaming :P
Not a hope. The rendering techniques used for this level of realism require far too much processing to be anything like fast enough for gaming in the near future. It`s frames per hour rather than frames per second.

The original is better, by the way. This is transcoded reduced resolution version for Youtube.
Anyone with the tools and a powerful enough computer, can pull this level of detail off.
In the same way that anyone with a decent art program can create good quality art from scratch...in other words, no.

The power of the computer just affects the rendering time. Any computer that can run the program could do the rendering. This particular rendering took 110 days.

anyone who thinks this is simple is crazy, you can have the worlds fastest computer with the best animation programs and not pull off what this guy did, hes pure talent. and it says showreel obviously its for his portfolio either academic or professional and im sure his employers wont be asking him to write stories.. thats not what he is hes an animator and a drating good one at that

The texturing is the most impressive part of this. The cars look real if you catch the frame where you can see the reflection of the background on the side of the car it actually looks like a reflection on the paint of a car. As someone else who works with graphics I have to say that this is pretty impressive.

That was pretty cool and all, but like BABY BEAR & PoopTart19 said...there was no point to it. The only use in this video I can think of would be to showcase his abilities to possible employers?

I`m amazed that a Blackhawk Helicopter Propellor would only crack a camera :)

Anyone with the tools and a powerful enough computer, can pull this level of detail off. So really, it comes down to the story and how well it was pulled off. IMO...not very well...
