Why do people talk about saving something that could easily rip your head off and would quite happily munch on your leg if it gets half a chance? The worst thing about climate change is not the fact that polar bears die out.
My point was merely that if environmental messages changed their rhetoric "about saving the planet" to focusing on human concerns about survivability and quality of life they could probably get more enthusiastic and effective action for environmental purposes rather than producing clips like this that are simultaneously melodramatic and absurd. The end goal remains the same in either case only the direction and tone of the message changes.
To paraphrase Adam Smith: We feel more keenly the disasters that affect our own interests than the affairs of others.
If people can be made to see how climate change could potentially affect them they will be more disposed to take action rather than come to the aid of an animal affected by the same problem that involves pecuniary cost no matter how sympathetic they may be to their plight.
JKuroneko: the planet can handle it, sure... it`s just that we and other living organisms can`t.
Also, I`d doubt a body being dropped from that height would resemble a body at all once it makes contact with the concrete. More like red mush...
In any matter, the earth has been through far far worse before humans even existed.. I think the planet can handle it.
i know right??
You had me until `littler.`
This is just the smoking gun, the final nail in the coffin, the "Perry Mason moment," if you will, that finally puts the matter to rest once and for all.
- Pity- Guilt- Fear
If you really want to make a point, you can do it like a respectable adult and not play games with something you feel is important. If it`s serious, then act serious. Don`t use underhanded psych tactics like this to try and get people on your side about it.
I doubt that was the only hacking/evidence gathering thats been done; it just happened to be something that people behind it wanted to make public. I`m sure you`ve played down and refuted claims by pro-climatechangers: please be reasonable enough not to over-egg this just because this is something that agrees with your views.
BTW, these links are not to right-wing websites. These stories are both at the Washington Post.
And don`t spoil the awesome impressing potential of falling polar bears by having ridiculously large amounts plumetting. It loses the effect. Facts have more impact than exaggerations.
That freakin` stainless steel water bottle you carry around put out enough CO2 to produce to weigh as much as a polar bear too, you hippy.
Thanks for the idea eco people!
Or maybe giant sailing ships of yesteryear? Friggin` liberals have no common sense.
