If there is a such thing as "Mental Terrorism"... that was it. I hope whoever made this video gets eaten by a polar bear, feet first :(

That commercial is correct, people - we need to put out more greenhouse gases! We need to save those gorillas, or whatever those things in the video was!

oh no don`t kill the polar bears! -_-

Why do people talk about saving something that could easily rip your head off and would quite happily munch on your leg if it gets half a chance? The worst thing about climate change is not the fact that polar bears die out.

i didnt like it. it would have been better to say " you would notice the problem of climate change if it were closer to home"

It`s gonna be awesome when the environmentalists move from shock-media to flat out terrorism. This is proof of that.

xiquiripat: that`s like saying that we should only show pictures of white kids with flies on their faces because we find it hard to relate to a picture of a starving black child - (although this may sadly be true, we are all connected and share in this planet, if we disregard everything becuase "we can`t relatet to it" *whines* then we really need to get a grip!)

@clearskies: I don`t disagree with you and it was not a statement of personal belief as much as a reflection on general perseption.

My point was merely that if environmental messages changed their rhetoric "about saving the planet" to focusing on human concerns about survivability and quality of life they could probably get more enthusiastic and effective action for environmental purposes rather than producing clips like this that are simultaneously melodramatic and absurd. The end goal remains the same in either case only the direction and tone of the message changes.

To paraphrase Adam Smith: We feel more keenly the disasters that affect our own interests than the affairs of others.

If people can be made to see how climate change could potentially affect them they will be more disposed to take action rather than come to the aid of an animal affected by the same problem that involves pecuniary cost no matter how sympathetic they may be to their plight.

Wow... I believe in climate change... but this was retarded.

JKuroneko: the planet can handle it, sure... it`s just that we and other living organisms can`t.

I found this more amusing than alarming. lol

Also, I`d doubt a body being dropped from that height would resemble a body at all once it makes contact with the concrete. More like red mush...

In any matter, the earth has been through far far worse before humans even existed.. I think the planet can handle it.

So what should we do? All drive cars to where we going instead, it`s not like riding planes could produce any more bad stuff than a crap load of cars. For all i care, planes are the ultimate car pooling idea.

"For those of you who say "who cares about the animals," obviously you don`t know much about the ecosystem and how one animal`s extinction or even population decrease can affect so much more around them, basically food chains change. An experiment was even done with starfish where populations of animals began to flux, and over time decline all together. Take out the polar bears, which are the top of the food chain in their area, and populations of other animals increase, causing problems for the littler animals who are food for the bigger ones that polar bears eat. Do your dang research before you open your trap. Uneducated responses are so irritating."

You had me until `littler.`

I`m simply saying you SHOULD care about the animals. While new life would begin, and life is adaptable, some species can`t adapt so well. We as humans are able to adapt the best, where as smaller or less intelligent species cannot adapt at all. How would these new lives adjust? Our actions and disregard for the planet we live on could have unforeseen consequences. I`m not saying to go change your behavior or preach about the effect of our actions on earth, but don`t say that the animals don`t matter cause they do. Life is life, whether its a human`s or a polar bear`s.

Clearskies, you`re right. Remove one animal from the ecosystem and the ecosystem will change drastically. But guess what, life is VERY adaptable. Though everything would change, it would keep going. But realize everything that is alive today, will be dead in less than two hundred years. And new life will be alive by then. But what if that new life was never born? Would it really make a difference? Life is an overrated phenomenon.

The whole "save the planet" thing is retarded. The planet doesn`t need saving, this rock will be here billions of years after we are with some kind of life (probably nothing we are used to). Besides that when push comes to shove people really don`t care about the environment it`s too inconvienient to do all that work to help a bunch of retarded animals. If you want to make an effective environmetal message you have to make it about people and not about Panda bears or whatever. Instead of pointing out that climate change will kill animals (who cares really?) point out that climate shifts usually involve food shortages which, given the population of the earth, will lead to political turmoil and war.

bac8434, even if it is sickening, it gets people`s attention. If it were straight facts, no one would pay attention to the ad. This ad gets people thinking about the problem and some might want to know more, so they visit the website.

OK, everybody calm down. It is CG. Its not real. Let me restate this another way so you can understand: They did not actually drop cute little polar bears from a plane. Everyone that gets upset from this ad should be dropped from a plane.

The people who make these commercials are absolutely sickening. If the issue is such a big deal, then convince people of your beliefs through the presentation of straight facts, not through guilt and fear-mongering. All that tells me is that the facts aren`t there to present so underhanded tactics like this must be relied upon to sway public opinion.

TopperHey,,if this were the only piece of evidence indicating the fraudulent nature of the man-made global warning movement. you would have a point. However, there has been a TON of evidence available before this that proved to any rational person that this is nothing but a giant leftist plot to take down the capitalist system -- "Green is the new Red."

This is just the smoking gun, the final nail in the coffin, the "Perry Mason moment," if you will, that finally puts the matter to rest once and for all.

The main reason why I don`t respect this type of approach is that it plays on the three feeling cards:

- Pity
- Guilt
- Fear

If you really want to make a point, you can do it like a respectable adult and not play games with something you feel is important. If it`s serious, then act serious. Don`t use underhanded psych tactics like this to try and get people on your side about it.

OldOllie: Evidence, yes. Proof, no. There is politicking in science, there are inscrutable scientists, but I doubt one reported hacking really negates absolutely everything else.

I doubt that was the only hacking/evidence gathering thats been done; it just happened to be something that people behind it wanted to make public. I`m sure you`ve played down and refuted claims by pro-climatechangers: please be reasonable enough not to over-egg this just because this is something that agrees with your views.

I`ve known all along that man-made global warming was a hoax; now we have incontrovertible proof. More here.

BTW, these links are not to right-wing websites. These stories are both at the Washington Post.

100 passengers x 400kg = 40 tonnes. Planes don`t hold 40 tonnes of fuel. If you think you have a point, don`t lie.

And don`t spoil the awesome impressing potential of falling polar bears by having ridiculously large amounts plumetting. It loses the effect. Facts have more impact than exaggerations.

Stupid, worthless commercial. Instead of putting money into things that can help solve this problem, let`s make some graphic commercial that somehow makes us feel pity for polar bears because our jetliners put out too much CO2.

That freakin` stainless steel water bottle you carry around put out enough CO2 to produce to weigh as much as a polar bear too, you hippy.

So what? We can`t fly planes, ok we have boats! Oh wait boats use fuel which eventually they`ll bitch about. So they expect us to make long row boats and give everyone a paddle? At least we`ll all have muscles from crossing oceans.
