What`s she gonna do? Seriously? Morph into a roll-cage on impact?
I am moving. Right now. Bai.
i`m guessing you`re not two.
they`re safe except for a rollover. people today would die in previous centuries.
loud wind lol
When I was a kid, my mom just held me in her lap while my dad drove. It wasn`t that long ago. Oh wait...yes it was. I`m old.
You might be on to something there. In a rollover, the mother`s dying too. But then again, the gene pool could use a little chlorine...
Of course I would NEVER EVER let my children do that, at THAT age.
Made perfect sense to me. There`s a reason why they don`t have seat-belt positions in the back of pick-up trucks (sorry Lion, that`s a "Ute" to you, you crazy Ozzy bastard). It`s because that bay isn`t meant for people. Never mind infants.
Also, I`d like to pick-up for Lionhart (see what I did there?) as both he and I are fathers of small children. I contend that when it somes to child safety, both he and I know pretty damn well what we`re talking about. And this ain`t safe.
You`re talking about seats properly mounted and designed for the task. Notice in your video how far the rear-facing seat moves in order to absorb and dissipate the kinetic energy. Now look at the photo`s on this post and ask how the hell those seats are going to absorb anything at all? Duuuh.
That`s really unsafe. And going on the freeway just makes this even worse.
silentfray: consider the people in Miami and Naples then consider the people in Tallahassee... the further south you go, the warmer the climate, the more snowbirds from the north.
at least she sat back there with them as well...
but yeah, still terrible.
That made no sense at all.
Lovingly short-sighted, my friend.
Because, of course, no-one`s car is ever hit by another car.
Do you really think that a seat stuck in the bed of a pickup is no more dangerous than a seat inside a car?
Sure, it won`t matter in a major crash, but there`s a lot of mid-range crashing, like a 30mph sideswipe at a junction.
Make that redneck.
Sure, those kids are safe...as long as there isn`t any kind of accident. If there is any accident more serious than a bump, they`ll probably die.
But if it wasn`t a one-off they`d get a new car, which means they probably aren`t tied down, which means fail.
I know at my school (which is in North Central PA) you can have people in the bed of a truck as long as you don`t exceed 35 mph (or so I`m told). So this really doesn`t phase me at all. As long as the kids are secure, I don`t see a problem.
