"Staged? and your point is? :D it still looks pretty damn cool! or does someone actually gotta die for things to be good or real? :P "

Dead body, or it didn`t happen.

Kidding....

From the IAB page sourcing I`ve done lately in relation to something upcoming... seems to me all comments pass through a filter which also strips any standard markup tags from it, possibly because the main forum font is bold anyway and the codemonkeys didn`t want weird bolditalic combinations. You will note that the [ quote ] italics is NOT bold. Regardless, for whatever reason, no styling seems to be allowed, and the only way to get around that is to cheat and use the [ quote ] feature for italics (although it will put a CR/LF after the quoted text whether you want one or not).

[ quote ] Blah blah [ /quote ] ... without the spaces. Like this.

Its staged, and yes there is some sort of extra oomph used to flip the van, but imho it is pretty well done. There`s no camera trickery required and I don`t see why people think the ball behaves oddly, or couldn`t be steadied in its natural rest position by two grown males. Of course, it *is* a lot lighter than a ball of that size should be.

2105 posts and you don`t know!?? You disappoint me Zero, I`m now appointing another IAB member in your place as my Grand Vizier when I take over as Emperor of the Universe in 2012.

OK, I went OMFG when I watched this, but it`s FAKE. TOTALLY.

Forget the car, watch the last 3 seconds - particularly, watch 1 guy push the ball out the way, then 2 guys actually hold the ball out of the way for a second.

I know everyone`s said it`s faked...but they did a terrible ob. Look at the ball about 1 second after impact, it`s defying the laws of physics.

It`s a good thing I`m a physics professor or else I would fall for these types of things!!! Thank God!

as soon as I saw it my "Fake/staged" radar started going off, cause whenever someone just happens to have a camera rolling and they catch something like this, its almost always staged and the Telegraph article confirmed it

I knew the van seemed to get some sort of a secondary lift right after the ball hit, but I couldn`t see where from and dismissed it as maybe just seeing things until I read the article and the part about the bar on the bottom of the van.

p.s. how the hell do you do italics here?

Obviously, the whole thing was too perfect to be real.

Facepalm. This is staged
Look under the car when it flips. You see the it? The rest are actors. The mechanism of launching the car pretty much proves this is staged. I cant believe you people falled for this.

The ball statred from stationary..or maybe thats just how a wrecking ball works? Thing is, there would have been no cars allowed to cross at the time...stage i reckon?

We`ll be hearing things about this movie and I betcha it`ll be out in late 2010. At least we know Michael Bay isn`t directing it because the car, the crane, and the whole damn block would`ve unnecessarily exploded.

Weee! I want a catapult under a car of my own too!

At first I thought it couldn`t have been from a movie, as the calculations involved in making sure it didn`t the driver would have been too difficult for a swinging ball, but it appears it starts from a stationary position. Also, if it hadn`t hit the car, it would have smacked the building on the other side of the street....

You can see the catapult under the car just after the ball hit and some movie crew in the end: definitely movie recording, but still cool...

You can hear the tires screeching at the very beginning, like the movie director had just said "Action!". Seems staged. If not, pretty damn unlucky.

Can`t be from a film, there would have been an explosion, several in fact.

Yeah there is kind of a delay from when the ball actually hits to the time the van shoots up off the ground. Even still, epic.

Yeah..it is from a movie. You can hear the director shout "cut" at 0.15. Plus if you watch the car carefully it has one of those stunt flip bar things shoot out from underneath the car to help flip it as the ball hits!

It`s from a film shoot. The crew and the director yelling cut give it away.
