Well P0...your new name is pants.
Anyways, pants, there must be a reason for a filter to be there instead of trying to bypass it

This comment made me laugh way more than the stupid pie chart, even though "pants" name is clearly pronounced Polar21

Before the moralfags start screaming left and right about how this is bullpoo, just stfu and listen. The picture is supposed to be funny, and an insult to MTV, NOT an actual valid real reason why everyone should only get music illegally from now on.

Laugh about how drating stupid MTV is, and move on.

And everything else that`s playing on MTV now...

"??? whats MTV cribs ???"

It`s a stupid show on MTV that shows all the crap "Celebs" have in their house (and the crap that people are going to steal off of them anyway).

If I really like the band, I buy their albums and I`ll go to their shows. Besides, it`s a good excuse to get bombed in public (just not to become #3 type of concert-goer...)

most bands make their money from touring. The record company makes money of the Cd`s

@ lando
agreed, there are some good bands out there that aren`t signed.

It was okay years ago to borrow a record from your freind and record to casette,

No, it was not OK. There is a warning right on the record/cassette that says it is copyrighted material and it is illegal to make copies.

I don`t get this at all. Most bands and musicians aren`t all that successful and don`t make all that much money, and they deserve your support. Support local live music in your area.

So if I listen to music on Youtube am I stealing it?

In other news - I have no conscience, I don`t feel bad in the first place. I clicked because relevant graphs are usually funny.

It was okay years ago to borrow a record from your freind and record to casette, the only differnce now is you do not know the person you are "borrowing" the music from.

Lemme rephrase my post alittle bit. In order to pay for studio time a band gets a loan from the record company, and the band uses record sales to pay back the record company.

Btw studio time costs ALOT.

I have no problem stealing from record companies (hell they buttdrat the people that make them money) but my only problem is that record sales pay for studio time for musicians who get loans from the record companies, so if you dont buy the cd than you are getting your favorite band in debt.

Plus when a band tours their tour is based around record sales, so if there are few record sales were you live, they aint gonna go there.

I love the defenses about how the music is crap so it`s okay to steal it. Then why even listen to it? It`d be like stealing some brussel sprouts from the grocery store and then complaining about how bad they taste. Why`d you take it in the first place then?

Itsalwysunny, settle, my friend. Like it or not, you broke the law. I can`t imagine any defense you would have. They already settled a class-action lawsuit about the prices of CD`s (I got $5), so that`s kinda out.

It`s like speeding. Everyone does it and it`s not a big deal, but if you caught you gotta deal with the consequences.

No, I wouldn`t steal a purse. No, I wouldn`t steal a credit card. But stealing from the douchbags of the world is like stealing candy from baby Hitler.

Music today is sh*t anyway. It all sounds the same and has nothing profound to say. A country song about your boots, your truck, how redneck you are, and Jesus? THAT`S original.

Male 3,756
Well, it`s no so much the "artists" who are really affected. It`s the production staff and all the little people involved. A rapper can`t pay his homeboy $100,000 a year to roll his blunts if he doesn`t get all his money.

With all the crap the record companies are pumping out now, I don`t feel sorry for these "artists" one bit. 99% of today`s artists will probably end up like Vanilla Ice within 5-7 years. Boo-hoo. People download their music and they don`t get their cut. NONE of them are starving! Magazines, appearances, co-branding, posters, clothes, commercials, endorsements, etc...they`re getting paid. Don`t lose any sleep over that.

I love to point out that: as a Canadian, our government has collected a tax on media (tapes, discs) and given it to the CRIA, for free!
Thus they already have my money! To NOT download would be a crime.
