Undetermined Tattoo of The Day [Pic]

This one is too close to call. I-A-B, you make the decision, is this tattoo cool, bad or pretentious?

It`s a good picture but too paintingish for a tatoo. Looks like it hurt too.

and this person did not have it, so she`s left with a mediocre tattoo where people will go "oh that`s that one painting of.. yeah... well, cool, i guess, good job on getting... a painting.. on your back..."

pui: just because this artist didn`t do it doesn`t mean it`s not possible. it just means she didn`t request a tattoo artist that could do more than replicate vaguely. i`ve seen several tattoo artists recreate sketchiness, watercolor, pointilism. they`re out there, you just have to have the determination to find em.

eh, it`s okay... obviously does not do the actually painting justice since it`s an impressionist, pointillism painting which couldn`t possibly be replicated as a tattoo.

I`m guessing it`s temporary. It would be really easy; see here for example:
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=inkje...
You can buy temporary tattoo paper and put it in your printer.

If not, excellent tattoo artist.

"i never did understand people that get a tattoo on their back.
its not like you can ever see it without two mirrors....
whats the point?"
Same reason as below plus the back is a straight canvas so you can get a decent tattoo there its also part of the body which doesent sag or change too much with weight change throughout life.

And agreed with opie ruins concept of orignal when done on small scale

"i never did understand people that get a tattoo on their back.

One reason, like me, I got tattoo`s on my back because I was young and stupid and wanted a tattoo, but was also intelligent enough to understand that even though tattoo`s are becoming more socially acceptable, there are still those close minded people who would still believe the stereotype when it comes to tattoos. And knowing my luck that person would be a potential employer.

Bad. The point of that art piece is that (in person) it`s F*CKING HUGE and made of dots so it only looks cohesive when you stand far away.

I highly doubt it`s done in pointilism as the original is. Bad tattoo.

The tattoo is bad, kimbumlove is pretentious.

The artwork is good, it just seems like it doesn`t belong there.

Do you think the tattoo artist used pointillism like Seurat did??

probably not.
looks pretty awkward on a back though.

This is awesome, but only if this person is Georges Seurat`s great-granddaughter. Otherwise, it`s totally pretentious.

"its not bad. but if the tatoo artist did it with all those little dots like the real one it would be much better."

"No pointillism, fail"

Technically speaking, the tattoo gun process IS pointillism.

I love the painting itself and the style it was done in made it a wonderful piece of art that took such a long time to complete. however, as a tattoo it comes off with a ridiculous feeling that cheapens the original work.

I`ve seen this in Chicago, It`s a massive painting painstakingly painted one dot at a time. Took Seurat 2 years to paint it. Also seen in Ferris Beuler.

It`s kind of refreshing to see an iconic, classic art piece used as body art... IAB`s definitely proved that many people really could care less what goes on their body, and this is pretty cool.

I`m with you StarDagger. Cultural evolution was severely impacted by the industrial revolution. It`s ironic to see a Seurat ink`d on someone`s skin. Original thought is dead. Kill your television!

That`s Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by George Seurat.

What an odd painting choice for a tattoo. There`s millions of better choices--if you`re into that sort of thing.

wow, it is weird in this mini Dark Age of Culture that we are in to see such a spectacular work of art end up on someones back.
Art, literature and music have been in the doldrums for over 100 years. I hope we live to see another age like the one that produced this fine work of art (the original, though kudos to the tattoo artist).

Yours in looking forward to a New age of Art, Music and Literature,
Star*Dagger
