"No, only 2 or 3 are exclusive to Australia. The rest are spread throughout the Asia region. List of 10 Most Venomous Snakes"

Not sure about that list - thought the sea kraits were amongst the most venomous - if not the most dangerous - on account of their small fangs and docile nature.

"Subspecies Pilbara Olive Python, Liasis olivaceus barroni, grows 2-4m larger than the standard sized Olive Python."

Lionheart, thanks for that, I`m adding it to my list of `dangerous-animals-i-want-to-see`

Australia does have an generous allocation of dangerous/poisonous snakes, spiders, sharks and last but by no means least - salties!

Its a kangaroo. Australia has 7 of the 10 deadliest snakes in the world.

Even if this s true and I`m not saying it it, then these 7 snakes aren`t exclusive to Australia.

Subspecies Pilbara Olive Python, Liasis olivaceus barroni, grows 2-4m larger than the standard sized Olive Python.

> till I realised its got a possum
It`s a wallaby/roo.

> kangaroo not being the best of rock climbers)
Approx half of all wallabies are rock wallabies.

Yea, I`m definitely placing my bet on the not-dead animal in this picture...

Still guessing who`ll be the winner? You bet dead kangaroo will.

Ok so its not a possum. Forelegs are too short etc. Presumably a hapless wallaby already dead when the snake dipped down for lunch. So i guess that gives the snake the win by default.

"Davymid m`lad - don`t confuse visibility with pollution."

Yup. There are pools of water (in caves)- so acidic they`ll literally melt your skin if you go in- that are crystal clear.

Couldn`t work out how this snake could be that (holy ****) big - till I realised its got a possum that just happens to look like a kangaroo. (Explains how the two got into that state as well - kangaroo not being the best of rock climbers).

Still its a fairly hefty snake!

Maybe its giving old poss the kiss of life?

Davymid m`lad - don`t confuse visibility with pollution. Water can be perfectly see through and lethally polluted, or it could have a couple of inches vis - but is only carrying inert and therefore harmless clay particles.

Thus endeth the lesson.

RE: davymid

Seriously, are you hanging sh*t on someone because where they come from doesn`t have clear water? Really, seriously? You can`t be. There`s some sort of irony or satire that I`m missing. Surely. If not, that was lame. Lamest hanging crap on someone... ever.
WOW, that is some clear water! I mean, yeah, snake vs. kangaroo, but seriously! You could swim in that and be able to see if anything was gonna come try to eat you!
Criminy leesah, I don`t know about you, but where I come from water is almost DEFINED by its uncanny ability to be clear. I`m not sure I want to move to "Midwest US", our water in Ireland is entirely seethrough...

And yes, I know it`s a river/creek/brook blah blah blah, but the point remains. If this is your first vision of clear natural water, then you`re doing something wrong.

Pollution much?

I`m guessing that`s an Olive Python, but it seems very long, thinking that holding onto the roo is stretching it a bit.

it`s too low-res to see the head of the snake. what kind is that? i don`t recall a venomous species having that girth nor length. seems like a constrictor to me, which begs the question of how this scene developed. maybe the animal was on the ledge and fell off, and the snake never let go?

i think too much.
