it`s too low-res to see the head of the snake. what kind is that? i don`t recall a venomous species having that girth nor length. seems like a constrictor to me, which begs the question of how this scene developed. maybe the animal was on the ledge and fell off, and the snake never let go?

    i think too much.

Criminy leesah, I don`t know about you, but where I come from water is almost DEFINED by its uncanny ability to be clear. I`m not sure I want to move to "Midwest US", our water in Ireland is entirely seethrough...

And yes, I know it`s a river/creek/brook blah blah blah, but the point remains. If this is your first vision of clear natural water, then you`re doing something wrong.

    Pollution much?

Davymid m`lad - don`t confuse visibility with pollution. Water can be perfectly see through and lethally polluted, or it could have a couple of inches vis - but is only carrying inert and therefore harmless clay particles.

    Thus endeth the lesson.

Couldn`t work out how this snake could be that (holy ****) big - till I realised its got a possum that just happens to look like a kangaroo. (Explains how the two got into that state as well - kangaroo not being the best of rock climbers).

Still its a fairly hefty snake!

Maybe its giving old poss the kiss of life?

Ok so its not a possum. Forelegs are too short etc. Presumably a hapless wallaby already dead when the snake dipped down for lunch. So i guess that gives the snake the win by default.

Subspecies Pilbara Olive Python, Liasis olivaceus barroni, grows 2-4m larger than the standard sized Olive Python.

    > till I realised its got a possum
    It`s a wallaby/roo.

Its a kangaroo. Australia has 7 of the 10 deadliest snakes in the world.

Even if this s true and I`m not saying it it, then these 7 snakes aren`t exclusive to Australia.

Lionheart, thanks for that, I`m adding it to my list of `dangerous-animals-i-want-to-see`

Australia does have an generous allocation of dangerous/poisonous snakes, spiders, sharks and last but by no means least - salties!

Not sure about that list - thought the sea kraits were amongst the most venomous - if not the most dangerous - on account of their small fangs and docile nature.
