If PETA Thinks Chickens Are Treated Bad Now [Pic]

Submitted by: fancylad 8 years ago in Misc

Look at the device they used to use to "humanely" kill them back in the day.

while its all true, i find myself unable to feel all sad and trumatized about chickens having their arms broken.

i read the whole thing about all that, and i still love kfc.

but thats just disturbing, i honestly do not have the guts to kill anything non-insectoid.

let alone crush its brains whith a metal tool

I agree with limphotdog (although he could have chosen a better name).
PETA can kiss my ass too. No offense, Sky (a friend, and PETA street team member).
They`re kinda sorta filled with CRAP.

I find it hard to kill any living thing whether it be with a tool or my bare hands. There`s just something about the way they look at me that makes me puss out. Meh, oh well. It`s cool for the people who CAN kill animals and eat them.
I might be a vegetarian, but PETA can kiss my ass. Bunch of brainwashing non-nice individuals.

I love all the green and growing things on this planet, which is why I eat all the tasty plant-eating animals who are mindlessly chowing on our beautiful world. I`m just doin my part so we all have oxygen and whatnot... srsly...

"your diet (assuming that you are vegan or a vegetarian) is the most unnatural way of living."

that`s somewhat true, not say natural stuff is the most healthy however, but humans have pointed teeth for eating meat and molars for chewing plants.

Intelligence has nothing to do with a specific diet. I`m not sure what you where trying to hint at there. Intelligence comes from learned knowledge, wisdom and etc. But I digress...

Actually, I am a vegetarian and no I was not always one though. Vegetarianism is NOT unnatural. When I was a meat eater I was very lethargic, I was always sick (colds and flu`s), about 20 lbs heavier and after meals I felt very bloated and "heavy". And that is eating a serving size, not huge portions or anything. When I tried vegetarianism, it was an amazing difference. I don`t expect you to understand but telling me to jump off a building because I make a comment about chicken nuggets....seek anger management or hell, it`s probably all those hormones in the meat you`re eating so I can`t blame you too much! : - )
And how do you guys know it`s not painful? The thing is you don`t and you don`t care.

Subushie:

"archeologists have come to find that agriculture wasn`t developed until many thousands of years after the first spear and axe"

Erm, so by your logic, we only developed agriculture _naturally_ when we`d become more intellingent?

Bit of a blow to your whole "eating veggies doesn`t mean you`re more intelligent" and "it isn`t natural" theories.

Afraid I`m with lostinkorea on this one.

I love chicken nuggets! its probably a lot easier and faster of a death than if the chicken was caught by say, a hawk. or a fox. I mean seriously? PETA has no versus to speak on anything. They`d rather kill the harpor seals to keep the cod population alive.

A buddy of mine grew up on a farm and they always had some chickens around. He told me that after chicks were born, if it looked like one in particular would not make it, they would step on it.

At first I kind of hesitant to agree that it was humane, but obviously realized it was.

lostinkorea. you may think you are of higher intelligence because you are probably vegan or some other currently mainstream form of diet. your diet (assuming that you are vegan or a vegetarian) is the most unnatural way of living. because if the human race was only herbivorous then we would defiantly not be the intelligent creature we are today, because of hunting humans developed tools and other ways of advancement to continue to eat and thrive, archeologists have come to find that agriculture wasn`t developed until many thousands of years after the first spear and axe. and yes, this is a super humane way of killing a chicken, because simply cutting its head off allows the chicken head another 8 seconds of pain before shutting down. this completely destroys the brain and allows no room for any form of consciousness. also, next time you go to make a statement about chicken nuggets, first consider jumping off of a very tall building.

lostinkorea, blood does not = pain.

If you`re some vegetarian, good for you. (And you`ll get vaginas all over your face for that... cookie to those who gets the reference)

Just because it looks "EWWW! ICKY ICKY!" does not mean it`s more painfull or stressy for the animal.

It`s quick and not painfull at all.

Female 778
if you cut a chicken`s head off it has to bleed to death while choking on it`s blood. so yes, a quick smash like that would be more humane. instant death versus one that could last for several minutes, which would you prefer?

I cannot believe some of you have the gall to sit there and think crushing an animals brain till it looks like a crepe is humane. Come the drat on...is this how you justify and make yourself feel better about shoveling those chicken nuggets down your throat?

Of course it is humane. Its quick and minimises pain and stress. The concept that gassing or injecting something is more humane because it is less violent is absolute nonsense. America should think about this when it comes to the death penalty.

it crushes the chickens brain instead of just cutting off the head. i dont know what is quicker, but at least there are no headless chickens running around. maybe they called it humane beacuse of that.

"this is not humane at all. the most humane way is to lay an animal down and slit its throat in one swift movement with a sharp blade. reduce as much pain as possible for the shortest time as possible."

No, the most humane way is being gassed with CO2, which is entirely painless and as startling as laying down to go to sleep and not getting up.

good stuff... no blood to deal with

I remember one christmas we were killing the goose (my uncle was holding it by the wings and we threw a broom handle across its neck. myself and the brother had to stomp on the broom to break its neck, my uncle pulled too hard and the head an neck tore right off, she took off running, gullet flailing this way and that spraying spatters of blood upon all about us.

That goose was drating delicious, and this kinda tool is a good deal more humane than improvising with a broom

that...is.....AWESOME!

@ gamerdude94

I know the feeling.

I mean, it`s known as "Vortex Flow" even though the vorticity is zero at every point Except the origin. While I suppose this is reasonable mathematically, in terms of real-world sensibilities it just doesn`t make sense.

At the very least, some basic nomenclature principals must be violated.

Whatever though. I guess I can`t really go against the fundamentals of incompressible flow theory and everything it`s contributed to the study of fluid and aerodynamics.

Actually, crushing the chicken`s head would prevent it from feeling any pain because it wouldn`t have a brain with which to feel anything. However, the chicken wouldn`t be dead right away and would run around for a while.

The only problem I have with meat these days is how its raised which is absolutely deplorable. Not only is it cruel to the animals its damaging to our environment and our health. Read in Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. If this method of killing a chicken caused the chicken no undue stress its all good.

Here`s how i see it: There are 6+ billion people on this planet, and we were able to do this based on our abilities to hunt and then farm (in that order). The only reason we survived this long was by eating the meat of other animals. We only feel bad because we have farming tech, and dont need to hunt anymore.

Actually, it looks pretty humane... How is crushing their skull any better than chopping their head off? For those questioning, I`m pretty sure the device holds one half of the clamp on the top of the mouth and the other on top of its head... when you bring them together: Pretty much instant death.

Also: killing animals is not murder... it`s killing animals.
